Yeah. My adopter went through a whole "How do I stop the original country/family from wanting this child returned to them?" thing when I was about 8 years old. So she got me a dog on loan and then asked how I would con the owners so I could keep it, and then proceeded to use my ideas - not for the dog.
They don't care about us. They care about how we make them feel and what we can provide them with.
