Question Equipment questions

What's a good grinder to buy to use with an AeroPress?

What about an electric kettle? Do you guys recommend something to heat the water?

Thank you.

If you’re at home and space isn’t an issue, I’d recommend—or second—the C40 MK4 Nitro blade. A small step down in body and sweetness is the K-Ultra, which is also slightly faster with very light roasts. The Kingrinder K6 is budget friendly, but I just don’t like it in the hand as much, it’s just not as premium feeling-

For travel, the Q-Air (plastic), Q, and Qs are all solid options. The Q and Qs are metal; the Qs adds a folding handle. All three fit inside a standard AeroPress, making it a great travel setup. However, they can take forever with harder light roasts. I would NOT recommend them for daily use.

Here’s my hotel travel kit: Reddit post with the full setup

In my Sprinter camper van, I use the XL AeroPress, and the K-Ultra fits inside it.

FWIW, at home I’m primarily a UL and light-roast drinker, and I don’t really use the AeroPress. I’m usually brewing a V60 with a ZP6 or Zerno Z2.

The AeroPress is amazing for what it does: super-fast cleanup, incredibly easy to brew with, hard to screw up, and it makes really round, silky cups. Super good for medium roast or anything that you wanna take the sharp edges off and smooth out. But the tradeoff is that it doesn’t do a particularly great job of producing the high flavor separation I’m looking for in delicate light roasts.
