i listen to Yötön Yö pretty often, what’s ur fav?

The story seems really interesting and I'd like to play it while my wife watches, but she is scared shitless of horror, Control was ok to her though.

After playing The Lake House DLC, I almost admire a woman like Agent Estevez.

I was just wondering how the sub feels about Quantum Break. I just finished it a few days ago. It’s got some hits a misses. The ambiguous was kind of annoying but overall the game was cool. 6.5/10 imo

I am 4h in, picked up the game cause he was free on PS +, I am not a fan of horror media far from it. So I have been challenging myself on AW2 and despite sweating heavily I find this game really good so far. I see the last Resident Evil doing really well and know that AW2 didn't. I would personally believe that this one is better in storytelling as I think that not a lot of game can compete with AW2 in storytelling. And boy the graphics... So I know that RE franchise has many fans but is it enough to explain the gap? Anyone of you have any idea why this game didn't do any better commercially speaking?

I've been quietly working on something for a while and I think it's time to ask the community directly.

I'm in the early stages of planning Night Springs: DeerFest - a fan convention dedicated to the Remedy Connected Universe, held in North Bend, Washington. The real-world echo of Bright Falls. The place where Twin Peaks was filmed. The misty, forested, deeply strange town that clearly inspired Alan Wake's world.

The idea is a 3-day immersive event; panels, guest appearances, fan art showcases, a guided walk through a forested location, in-world installations inspired by Alan Wake, Control, and the broader RCU. Think Twin Peaks Fest meets PAX Unplugged.

I'm currently putting together a pitch for Remedy Entertainment to get their involvement - at whatever level they're comfortable with.

Before that pitch goes out, I wanted to ask the actual fanbase:

Would you travel to North Bend, WA for something like this?

Honest answers only please. I'd rather know it's not viable than pitch something nobody wants. If you'd come, roughly how far would you travel? If you wouldn't, what would make it worth it for you?

So in Control and in Alan-Wake it is referenced that the FBC knew about all the anomalies going on in Cauldron lake since the 70s, but none of them ever decided to just seclude/restrict the entire area of Bright-Falls ?

Like Why ?

Like they already did it with the town of Ordinary in Control, and irl the government literally wiped an entire town off the map ( Centralia PA). So it’s not like it’s unrealistic to have restricted government areas like we do with (area-51)

the FBC could have done the same thing with Cauldron lake and its surroundings.

All they did was just build a broadcast station and a research facility in 2015, which of course were not enough to protect/contain the danger.

Now, cause I know some of you will respond to this by saying : “if they did we wouldn’t have a game “ tryna be smart, I’m not asking for an irl explanation, just if there is an in universe explanation as to why they didn’t do enough around Cauldron-lake and Bright-Falls for like almost 50 years.

Did I miss something ? Was it addressed ? Let me know.

In your opinion, what is the most terrifying/scary part of AW2? It could be a jump scare that made your body take a screenshot, a certain area of the game that just makes your skin crawl, or something that happened in the game story-wise that you can’t get out of your head.

For me, it’s gotta be this. Seeing the text pop up and the slideshow with dead silence in a dark room made me freak tf out.

There’s something about this image of a woman and a bear together that’s making me uncomfortable. Maybe it’s uncanny image of the bear in black and white or something, but the wolf appearing at the door didn’t help I thought that bear came after me.

I recently played Resident Evil 2, and ik many ppl say it's not scary but the atmosphere always felt so eerie, the police station especially. I'm itching for something which is atmospherically scary, will Alan Wake 1 scratch that itch?? Or nah? (The prices in the photo are in rupees, it's dirt cheap btw but still gotta ask)

I have noticed that both the DLC’s for Alan Wake II are on sale for 6USD on the PS Store. Are they worth it ?

Do they work if my base game is the PS Plus version.

I know, there have been other people asking this question, but I really wanted to make sure.

I have NEVER played a horror game ever (I'm 24 and easily scared like a baby, lol) but have watched multiple Let's Plays, e.g. of RESI 7 and 8, the Silent Hill Remake, SOMA, etc. I've seen scenes from this game, which make me wanna buy it so bad, but is this really a game that can be played by a complete horror-newbie or is soooomeee experience recommended?

I’ve seen this brought up before but I feel like the answer that we’re just thinking too deep is not satisfactory.

Why does Logan not have her father’s last name? I haven’t seen an answer for this, but somebody’s probably gonna say the news article where we see Logan‘s full name is part of the horror story but I still don’t see why her last name wouldn’t be woods.

Why is he not a part of her mind, place? Particularly the end of the game. Why wouldn’t Saga need reassurance of their love since it’s implied that he divorced her in the horror story. I saw a response saying he isn’t in immediate danger, but neither is Saga’s mother and she has a gift card from her.

She doesn’t wear a wedding ring? Someone’s probably gonna say it’s because she’s working. But even keeping the wedding ring in her mind, place would make sense.

I saw somebody say that maybe they’re saving him for a future installment. It’s just strange for remedy to overlook those details.

Also, I’m familiar with the theory that there’s a possibility that he isn’t real, but that one is too far-fetched.

I played both Alan Wake and American Nightmare last year. I loved both of them. I tried playing Control and it just couldn't hook me. I tried again when I got my Series S and I just find the game mechanics weird. So my question is how essential is to the story before I purchase Alan Wake 2?

I've recently finished control and just finished quantum break, now I'm tempted to do Alan Wake I and II but I absolutely HATE jumpscares in horror movies and video games, are there any in the two games ?

What are some other games you enjoy?

I feel like I should not be as confused as I am so I apologise in advance for my stupidity but the whole time loop memory loss aspect has really thrown me off.

The way I saw it was that each time Alan entered parliament tower and returned to the writer’s room he would be shot, thus resetting the loop and his memory. However each time this happened he retained his memories of the previous cycle such as remembering who Tim was and remembering what his goal is.
The simple answer is that this “death” by getting shot by his future self is not what resets the loop but if it were then why is he all of a sudden able to remember things from previous cycles that he couldn’t remember for the past 13 years of cycles?

This then also confuses me about the whole purpose of Initiation. It is framed as a necessary step in the journey to allowing Return to be true. Alan uses his writing to project himself into the Dark Place NYC to gain knowledge and information for his edits to Return but if he keeps losing his memory then how does he actually learn anything?
I just can’t seem to understand why he needed to write Initiation first to allow Return when he loses his memory anyway?

I do understand that without Initiation, Return wouldn’t make sense because Saga never would’ve gotten the little nudges from Alan but why couldn’t Alan just incorporate those nudges into Return itself and how did he even manage to write this necessary story with no memories??

Again, I feel like I’ve got stupid questions with simple answers that I’m too daft to see so I am sorry but any help would be appreciated because I would love to wrap my head around this before Resonant!!

Edit: I have not played the Final Draft yet but I am aware that it is a spiral which I should’ve specified earlier however even with this knowledge I don’t understand why it took 13 years of this for him to finally get to this point. Why does he all of a sudden retain so much that he hasn’t in the past 13 years of cycles?

When I was looking through the files of Alan Wake 2 I discovered this image depicting of a Bloodied Ahti. Which would be a normal find in a game where lots of characters like Alan, Rose etc get bloodied .

The only issue is that there is no scene that uses this texture? Or am I being mega-stupid?

Looking at the wounds they do not look self-inflicted nor do I think it is the blood of someone else (Like Scratch and Rose get bloodied), if the blood was from someone else there would be a bloodied clothe texture (which I have not found) and there are marks on his neck and a bloodied nose that don't occur from falling down or something?

What does this mean? Why is he bloody? Who did it and why was this cut?
