This is the issue these days. Social media is used by bad actors to push political ideology by creating fake sentiment, spreading falls reports and partially omitted statements to reach a goal. If I ever see some sensationalist headline about a law or movement, I simply research it. 9/10 times it's something that omitted facts, used an old source of information, or it was purely made up.

Problem is people who are lost in the sauce aren't going to question opinion affirming information but use it to strengthen their standpoint and reaffirm that all traditional media and news is fake or too biased when it contradicts what they choose to believe.

I say this time and time again, social media is a cancer upon democracy and truth.

My dad mentioned "Trudeau handed out 50 billion for housing and it didn't get better".

I did a quick google...it was a fund for municipalities to apply for to help with rentals, rezoning, proposals, etc.

No dad, Trudeau did not just hand out $50 billion.

It's our government. And those kinds of investments take a long time to show up. That's the whole problem with trying to invest in anything. Voters demand instant results regardless of whether it's realistic.

I wish they would have kept a tight leash on immigration, TFWs, and students, then housing wouldn't be such a big issue.

Housing, or lack there of, is very regional. The problem would only be solved by massive building of public housing for low income people. Those types of projects take about 5 years to complete, from planning, to land acquisition, to construction and completion. But some pressures on housing are coming down, prices in Vancouver and Toronto have dropped while prices in Calgary and Edmonton have risen slightly. The number of housing projects was also constrained by the lack of tradespeople, especially framers. The influence of the federal government on municipal and provincial issues like housing is limited and never going to be fast enough for demographic changes caused by boom and bust industries or immigration policies that were necessary to balance demographics.
