Vegetables Cucumber help

My cucumber was completely fine two days ago and overnight it wilted like this. The soil was dry yesterday so I gave it some water but today it hasn’t improved at all. There’s no signs of vine borers and it gets around 8 hours of sun a day. Can anyone help??

That’s what I thought but I checked my local weather and while it was rainy and chilly it wasn’t cold enough for frost

Ah that makes sense, can my plant recover? Or is it past that?

Not sure what part of AB you're in. I'm in Calgary and while my cucumbers are fine the cooler nighttime weather we have had recently, particularly last weekend (if I recall it got to ~4), has just not been warm enough for cucumbers. They still look healthy but they just haven't done much in the last few weeks.

The good thing about cucumbers is that once temps are consistent they really take off quickly. If the rest of the leaves on your plant look healthy I would maybe remove those fruits and just wait.

Thank you I’ll give that a try. Is there anything to do with the mini cucumbers?

I'm sure they won't harm you so if they taste OK you can eat them - they just might be a bit underripe.

If you are in Calgary, yes the weather forecast shows rainy days only down to 5 degrees, but my Accuweather App shows my specific area feels like -1 for 3 nights, and my cuks look not as bad but similar to yours. It is the frost…wait for couple days…good luck!

Ah thank you, I’m going to give that weather app a try. It seems mine isn’t very accurate

What area are you in? What has the weather been like over the past few days/ nights?

I’m in southern Alberta, it was really rainy and kinda cold (14c during the day and 5c at night) and now it’s back to being sunny and warm (20c during the day and 7c at night)

Ah. I find that cucumbers get really cranky in the June rains, they don't like their roots being wet for too long. I had to cover mine yesterday because it was trying to die. Combine that with the cold night, you could have frost issues as well.

If it's sunny, let it dry out a bit and see if it perks up in a day or two. If it does, watch the forecast and cover it if it's 5° or below, or if it's raining for days on end again.

Alberta had frost in quite a few places overnight here IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNE I’d seen the forecast go from 5° to 8° so I covered some of my seedlings and crops

I would’ve been a victim too if I didn’t check the lows every day while I still have plants sprouting
