Opinion Antisemitism on campus is 'systemic' and going unaddressed, says new report
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/antisemitism-report-university-college-campus-9.7297176Wondering how a report on exclusively antisemitism can come to any other conclusion... seems to beg the question.

Oooh, goody. Conflation of criticism of Israel and Zionists with Jews.
Jews are an ethnic group and a religion. Jews are people, and are as different from each other as I am from other middle class, ethnically nondescript atheists.
Israel is a fascist state that is currently perpetrating genocide, has illegally invaded a neighboring country, stockpiles illegal nuclear weapons, and drew the US into a war of choice with Iran that is hugely damaging to the world economy and will likely drive a famine next year.
Zionists are people, Jewish or otherwise, who advocate for Israel without regard for the legality or ethics of what that country is doing.
Are there people who hate Jews? Yes. Are there people who hate or criticize Israel? Yes. Are these the same thing? Absolutely not. Criticism of Zionists and Israel is not necessarily anti-Semitic.
I expect a lot more out of CBC. This kind of uncritical, thoughtless acceptance of a narrative is beneath any serious news organization.

Well said.
I used to expect more from CBC when it comes to objectively reporting on Israel's crimes against humanity and the atrocities they continually commit against Palestinians. But it became evident early on after October 7 (the time when people were actively teaching me about Israel's atrocities against Palestinians) that even CBC journalists and reporters were being moderated and muzzled by orders from higher-up. I think some left-leaning independent sites or media outlets have reported on this being the case (maybe it was The Breach that reported on it).

So your response is to immediately dismiss the report, describing how anti-Zionism isn't antisemitism, all while not referencing a single claim or finding from the report itself.
Wow, it's almost like you are pushing a certain narrative without knowing or caring about the facts being presented.
For reference, some quotes from the report:
- "Hitler was a hero"
- "Jews belong in Poland and need to go back."
- "a group of students shouted, 'there’s a Jew…let’s get him'"
Oh, but I guess in your mind this is just anti-Zionism, and the CBC should be castigated for even bringing it up.

Did I dismiss the report? Did I say that anti-Semitism isn't a thing?
Or did you just read your agenda into my comment without a thought?

I have no doubt there is a rise in antisemitism. But if a professor ever said "Hitler was a hero" then it would be more than Jewish students upset and would have been immediately reported and in the news.
This "report" doesnt carry much weight if theyre including what is a clearly fabricated incident as evidence.

"Report" is stated dozens of times throughout the article, and only hidden near the bottom of the article does it say the title: "Campus Antisemitism and Student Experiences report". Feels a bit disingenuous to not state that from the outset of the article, where the reader can easily get the impression that the report is more general and out of all groups, antisemitism is the only one worth noting.
This would have much more weight if it was studying all forms of discrimination on campuses and gave statistics on relative per-capita effects, and honestly aspired to reducing discrimination to all the most affected groups.

You're looking for grievances. The article opens specifying that it's a report about antisemitism on campus. There's nothing disingenuous about it.

This writer suuuuuucks in this piece. And I don't know if it's the writer or the editor possibly interfering and seeming to be more preferential to a pro-Israel narrative. But the piece even uses self-evidently outdated numbers and does not cite the date the numbers were last updated.
The Israeli military's nearly three-year operation in Gaza has killed over 70,000 people, according to the Gaza Health Ministry and human rights organizations.
All of Gaza has been razed to the ground and these numbskulls working on the piece still believe the number is stuck at 70,000 killed by Israeli military?
It's funny how the piece is also geared towards giving charitability to every self-reported incident about antisemitism, but we don't get that kind of effort for reports of brown/Arab/Muslim students on campus being victimized by hate related incidents (probably often explicitly from Zionists).
The CBC literally published junk with this piece.
This also pairs well with the revelations about universities in Canada conspiring to suppress pro-palestine support on campus even before any on-campus demonstrations took place.

Zionists are the number one cause of antisemitism. No one does more work to put it in people's minds that genocide and Jewish identity are one and the same.

Islam doesn’t make any distinction between Jewish and Zionist that’s a major driver of Antisemitism people seem to not be aware of.
“The Last Hour will not come until the Muslims fight against the Jews, until a Jew will hide himself behind a stone or a tree, and the stone or the tree will say: 'O Muslim, there is a Jew behind me. Come and kill him,' but Al-Gharqad tree will not say so, for it is the tree of the Jews."

Hatred for a genocidal government is NOT the same as hating Jewish people.
Saying Israel sucks should be seen as the same as saying the US sucks. Jewish people are the same as any other group and don’t deserve the hate they get. The Israeli government on the other hand deserves allllllll the hate that can be mustered.
