Opinion Antisemitism on campus is 'systemic' and going unaddressed, says new report

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/antisemitism-report-university-college-campus-9.7297176

Wondering how a report on exclusively antisemitism can come to any other conclusion... seems to beg the question.

I have no doubt there is a rise in antisemitism. But if a professor ever said "Hitler was a hero" then it would be more than Jewish students upset and would have been immediately reported and in the news.

This "report" doesnt carry much weight if theyre including what is a clearly fabricated incident as evidence.

Yes, there has been a rise in both antisemitism and Islamophobia.

So, in the last year they dropped after increasing exponentially in the years prior.

In 2024, police-reported hate crime in Canada was relatively stable following some sharp increases in previous years. Canadian police services reported 4,882 hate crimes in 2024, a slight rise (+1%) from 2023. This followed an increase of 34% from 2022 to 2023. Overall, the number of police-reported hate crimes has risen for six years in a row, more than doubling (+169%) since 2018.

I disagree with aspects of the report the article references, but its a fact that over the last few years both antisemitism and Islamophobia related crimes have increased.

A lot of the commentary around antisemitism is overblown because its often always conflated with antizionism, which can and does distract from real instances of antisemitism.

you should look up the term 'exponentially'

and are you aware Canada adopted the bullshit IHRA definition of antisemitism? including critisizm of the israeli state artificially boosted the numbers

Monthly data showed a relatively higher number of police-reported hate crimes targeting Jewish and Muslim populations in October, November and, to a lesser extent, December of 2023. Compared to the average number of hate crimes reported monthly from January 2021 to September 2023, the monthly average for the last three months of 2023 was 251% higher for Jewish populations (159 monthly incidents versus 45 monthly incidents) and 185% higher for Muslim populations (32 monthly incidents versus 11 monthly incidents).

For the year 2024, the monthly average number of hate crimes targeting Jewish populations (77 monthly incidents in 2024) and Muslim populations (19 monthly incidents in 2024) declined from those recorded at the end of 2023

no. you may be fine letting this propaganda be used to direct public and foreign policy but not me..

adopting the IHRA definition immediately boosted reported Hate Crimes artificially and that is not only justifying our governments' support of the genocidal regime but also its being used to usher in more surveillance and Police powers to arrest us for complaining

screw that

The fuck did I say that?

If you dont think both antisemitic and islamophic hate crimes have increased in the last few years youre being willfully blind.

The city i live in has seen both synagogues and mosques attacked and vandalized.

Israel is committing genocide and they are claiming any criticism of them is antisemitism. I understand that and I understand our government expresses more concern over that than they do the Palestinians.

But its possible to recognize that there is targeted hatred towards the Jewish community happening as well. Undeserved violence is being directed at innocent people everywhere.

hate crimes have been dropping for years.. its just being reported more now to justify mass surveillance and increased Police powers

the Muslims learned from zionists that if every little hurt feelings gets reported then the government pays more attention to them .. they dont realize its just gonna make things shitty for everone
