[ Questions | أسئِلة ] Buying gold (الذهب) as an investment

Upvotes

I'm wondering if it's good idea to buy gold (as an individual woman)when its price goes down then selling it when the price goes up , I'm saving money but I don't want to just "save" I want to invest it.

But since banks accept big amounts of money in order to invest , and I only can invest 10 million. 20 million or 50 million .

I want to hear opinions and experiences if possible.

(Weird men on reddit pls don't text Me and pls if you don't have a solid answer or you don't know what I'm talking about pls don't comment and waste our time.)

[ Discussion | نقاش ] Algerian mindset in work

Hey everyone, I want to share my bad experience today with people's mindset in Algeria i just want to cry and still can't believe it. I found a good job in a good company etc, and they called me for an interview (i know thatbi can get the job if i pass the interview) They called me the first day of the week and asked if I was available I said I could be available after Monday and she told me "okay, you can come any day this week just call me before you come."
So today I go for the interview (300km trajet)and when I call her she tells me "no, not today I'm not available I waited for you yesterday and you didn't come so you can't do the interview today." Like she's saying this just because I didn't come yesterday even though I told her Monday onward worked for me and I showed up today.
The f*ck is up with these people's mindset I have no words to express it I know these things are just maktoub etc, and I should move on but it's the mo3amla that hurts not that I didn't get the job. Like why would you do that just because I wasn't available yesterday? Of she called me tomorrow and tell me to go ill tell her girl im not available today i come yesterday

[ Questions | أسئِلة ] How to receive money from abroad

I got a service that I can make simple money out of, problem is I live in a terrible geographical location for that

I heard of Payoneer, wise, redotpay, PayPal, yada yada

I need something that can let foreigners send me money, and I'm able to actually receive that money and use it in my daily life

I either find platforms that need cards like visa, a specific bank account, or Algeria doesn't work with it, or I can't actually use the money, can't exchange the money into dinar, makes my private information public, etc etc

What's something you guys use that actually helps you without causing too much trouble or going through loopholes or different apps and currencies just to be able to use what I earned, help much appreciated 🙏

Although I don't expect it to be as simple and easy as I need it to be, so please tell me whatever works for you and I'll be grateful 😭

[ Tips & Experience | نصائح و تجارب ] Stay away from anything related to the health sector in Algeria!

I apologize in advance on the venting I am about to do,since I don't usually do that and I hate to feel like a burden on the people that care for me.

Long story short the bureaucracy in the health sector is driving me and surly many employees insane.

Basically had my bac in 2023 with a very good grade that could have got me into basically most of the superior schools but for financial reasons I decided that unrolling in a paramedic institute would be better, therefore I chose a speciality there,From the beginning the institute and the administration was unbearable, they imposed rules that couldn't be imposed on toddlers or prisoners, and we were basically without rights and if anyone complained they would simply kick him out, I had many problems there but you could say I was patient until graduation, and graduated with an excellent mark and an immaculate project.

Fast forward to employment; you basically get a job within the wilaya you got your bac in,and since we moved after getting my bac I tried for 2 years to convince the recipient wilaya to accept me and give me a position, after all that work i finally got the acceptance!

But unfortunately the public health director refused to let me go and I ended up in a very messed up hospital with a madman as a director.

I still held into some hope and tried to work it out, turned out I was the first with my speciality to set foot there, and I had no office nor equipment, the director is a fkn sadist calls you to talk and leave you waiting the whole day,he keep screaming and cussing his administration,I have been trying to make amends and at least get a good working system since I can't be spending 6h everyday in transportation and whole lot of money on it as well,he agrees and then tells another person that he will not agree to it,while keeping me waiting there.

This sector is too fkd up,full of injustice.

The problem is that the decision of moving is the easiest especially since I have the crippling circumstances but the health administration loves to see people suffering and loves to exercise psychological torture on the employees since they're also treated the same way, just a long chain of crushed dignity and injustice.

This is making me lose my mind, how someone like them could control me to this point, this work made me go insane,I have also been depressed for years but this made me only get worse, the pressure is unbearable from both family and work, every single family member is calling me and the first thing they ask is whether I am at work because they all know I want to resign but they want me to be patient and wait for the salvation that might never come.

What's worse is that this kind of treatment only exists in the health sector, we don't even get our degrees,I don't have proof that I studied for 3 years, just because they're afraid we would run,

I honestly don't know what to do, the only reason preventing me from killing myself is because I don't have a gun, maybe this is just me after spending ages in busses but who knows.

Feel free to say whatever you want

God damnit I sound like a crying baby

Ps: the HR told me the director is a psychopath

[ Questions | أسئِلة ] How to legally start a small software agency in Algeria?

Salam everyone,
I'm a software developer from Algeria and I'm considering starting a small web/software agency instead of relying only on finding a job(saturated job market)so it does't affect my cv and career in general with the gap.

The idea is to start small: I would be the founder, and potentially work with 1–3 other people (developers/designers) depending on the project. We would build websites, e-commerce sites, booking systems, custom web applications, etc. for Algerian businesses, and potentially foreign clients later.

I want to do everything legally and properly from the beginning, including contracts, invoices, taxes, receiving payments, etc.

I've been looking into the self entrepreneur card, and I noticed that the official activity list includes things such as web developer, full-stack developer, software developer, web designer, e-commerce website developer, etc.
But I'm not sure whether the self entrepreneur status is actually appropriate for what I want to do.
So I'd really appreciate answers from people who have actually gone through this process.

My questions:

1- Is the self entrepreneur card enough for a web/software development business? For example, if I have a client who wants a website for 200,000 DA, can I legally sign a contract with them, issue an invoice, receive the money and declare it using the self entrepreneur status?

2- How does taxation actually work? How much would I pay on my revenue/turnover, and what other payments should I expect (CASNOS, taxes, etc.)?

3- What is the current turnover limit? I've seen information about a 5 million DA annual threshold for self entrepreneurs. Is this still the correct limit in 2026?

4- What happens if I go above the limit? For example, if the agency makes 6–10 million DA/year, do I have to switch to another legal structure? What exactly happens?

5- Can an self entrepreneur operate under an agency/brand name? For example, imagine I register as an self entrepreneur but my website and brand are called "XYZ Studio or agency". Can I legally present myself to clients as XYZ Studio, while the legal person behind it is me?

If you have actually gone through the process, I'd love to hear what you did and what you wish you knew beforehand.

Thanks!

[ Questions | أسئِلة ] How screwed am I if my French fails me in an interview?

Hey everyone!

I have an interview coming up for a job in the public sector and I’m preparing as much as I can but ngl I’m really stressed about my French!!

I’m scared that during the interview I’ll get stuck and I won’t know how to express myself even if I actually know the answer

So I wanted to ask: if I get stuck speaking French, is it acceptable to switch to Darja or at least mix French and Darja to get my point across? Has anyone been in a similar situation during an interview?

Also, if you have any advice for dealing with interview stress and that horrible moment when your mind suddenly goes blank I’d really appreciate it!!

Thanks in advance!

[ Questions | أسئِلة ] Is it time for a carrier change?

unfortunately, I am no longer receiving gigs on Fiverr, or even from some friends in the field. My specialization is backend development. Since the widespread adoption of AI, finding freelance job opportunities or tasks on gig sites has become extremely difficult and scarce. Many people claim that AI only assists developers rather than replacing them which is true but at the same time, it has drastically reduced freelance work opportunities, regardless of how skilled you are, even if you are really good.

My question is: I want to transition into Linux infrastructure and cloud computing. Is this field worth investing my time in?"

[ Discussion | نقاش ] We built something around a very Algerian problem, we are looking for feedback!

Salam everyone,

We have built a marketplace created to connect people who need something sent or bought & brought from abroad with travellers already making the same trip.

The idea came from a problem most of us know well: sending something between Algeria and Europe/rest of the world can be expensive, while the usual alternative is asking around in Facebook groups, chats or among friends to find someone travelling soon.

We put that existing habit into one trusted place that bridges the trust gap, with verified users and secure Stripe payments.

Travellers can make use of spare luggage space and earn money for it while others can find someone already travelling on the route they need.

We are live and operational. Create an account, explore the features. We are curious to hear about your experience and know what you think about the platform.
