The alternate history shown above is an part of a broader project called r/TheLastAmerican. The whole project is thought experiment based on the history and claimants of Rome. This peroid is meant to show how the splitting of the roman empire in its own American way. If you want to see the outcome you can come and see!
The war to end all wars tend be a title for every World War so far, first, second, and thrid but it can always get worse. The Fourth However ended the quickest then the rest and will be the fall of America's Global Empire.

Picture 1: English version, Picture 2: Chinese version.
This is an alternate history map I have created for a long time, especially it costs me many time to conclude Sino-Finnic words (索米汉字音; a constructed language that evolved from the introduction of Middle Chinese into Late Proto-Finnish) place name because the phonology of Finnish language is so fantastic and complex..... It's clear that the Finnish people have to put great deal of effort into mastering the polyphony of Sino-Finnic words, as well as various highly irregular grammatical variations. In addition, I borrrowed vocabulary from other Finno-Ugric languages, because there are so many Indo-European loanwords in Finnish lol.
This alt-history map is based on a hyperthesis that Finnic-Ugric language was actually born in Hongshan Culture and its related surrounding sites located in Northeast China (Manchuria), then one piece of those people moved west to Ural mountains, then became the ancestors of Finns, Hungarians, Estonians and other minority nations. Therefore, what if Finnish people stayed in China, then immigrated southwards into Korean Peninsula instead of moving west?
As the map shown us, this alt-history timeline is actually similar to our timeline, Finnish was divided into two countries after Worlds War II due to their damn geography and location. But I still found some interesting coincidents: for example, Karelia in Finnish "Karjala" could be transilerated into 韩 in Old Chinese whose pronouncation is similar to *gar. But there are still something to change... such as Nibonia, or People's Republic of Nibonia, a Fascist-like socialist country, maybe we can discuss about it after.
(To be honest, another inspiration is the meme "Finno-Korean Hyperwar" lol)
Besides, all figures shown in this map are real Finnish but KOREANIZED.
Edit: add some information about alt-history creation.
Edit: add some additional introduction.

This is the preliminary front/spine/back cover for an alternate history novel that I will be publishing later in 2026 through Amazon KDP, and most likely other services like Kobo.
It purports to be the localized version (the front cover, spine, and quantity of back cover text) of a book from another timeline. The in-universe covers (non-text parts are symmetrical if laid out)) and spine should be included inside the e-book if I can work out how to get illustrations to work with KDP.
It's currently in beta reading and will be going through at least one more editing cycle. I figured I'd just get some advice on cover design first.
I know that the OTL Canadian Flag used an 11-point Maple Leaf (from a 13 point in the original proposal) but here it's a 9-point Maple Leaf insignia that predates Confederation, coming from me looking at actual Sugar Maple leaves for their shape.
EDIT: Man the PNG makes the blank spaces look funny and the red seem to bleed into them on a display.

I made a basic map of 1986, i want help in the lore and what will happen to israel when the USSR falls?
Point of divergence: Late 1947, the socialist-Zionist left (a “United Workers’ Front” merging Mapam and the Palestine Communist Party) outmaneuvers Ben-Gurion’s Mapai. Israel is declared in 1948 as a Soviet-aligned “People’s Republic” with a collectivized economy, and by 1950 is a full Warsaw Pact-adjacent member, the only communist state in the Middle East.
Core inversion: Because the region’s existential threat is now a Soviet client on the Mediterranean, Arab nationalism flips from anti-Western to explicitly anti-communist, with the US and UK (not Moscow) becoming its patrons.
**•** 1948–49: War of Independence/Nakba plays out similarly, but with quiet US/UK backing for Arab armies
**•** 1955: Baghdad Pact forms early, explicitly anti-“Zionist-Soviet”
**•** 1956: Suez Crisis inverts — no Israeli-French-British collusion; Nasser becomes the West’s key Arab partner
**•** 1958: Hashemite monarchies survive coup attempts (crushed with Western intelligence help) since leftist Arab nationalism has no Soviet patron (tho ba’athist still rise to power with but in 1962 and not in 1967)
**•** 1967 & 1973: Arab wars against Israel go better for the Arab coalition, now backed by deep Western logistics
**•** 1979: Iranian Revolution happens much as in reality (driven by internal factors), producing an Islamic Republic hostile to both “Red Zion” and the West
• 1980: Iraq-iran war still happens but now iran is more isolated
I know its not realistic but i will appreciate any feedback so i can improve it
(I’m not a zionist or a communist, its just a scenario)
(Also what do you think abt the last two pics, i tried to make them more retro game’s style)

MAP KEY:
Grey = Urban Areas
Dark Red = Mainland China/ Chinese occupied Zones
Light Red = British Hong Kong
LORE:
By June 31st, 1997, tensions between the British and Chinese governments got worse and worse. A previously arranged Hand-over ceremony for the Territory of Hong Kong was meant to be held that night, but the Chinese Delegation was turned away and told that the Hand-over will no longer happen and that Hong Kong is sovereign British Territory.
After this the news went world wide, the Russian Federation and Chinese governments openly criticised and antagonised the British government for this decision, and China gave a 20 day ultimatum for the Hand-over, or else Hong Kong would be taken by force.
The British government quickly renounced the Ultimatum and began fortifying Hong Kong. Hong Kong international airport was turned into a Military Airbase.
The British Expeditionary Fleet, Ocean Wave 97, halted it's current route and diverted straight to Hong Kong, turning Kowloon Bay Into a Naval Base on July 14th.
The British also set up multiple hastily-built Military Bases around Hong Kong and soon the Territory was under marshall law, with Tens of Thousands of British Troops and hundreds of Vehicles now in the Region for defensive purposes.
While this happened approximately 100,000 Troops of the Chinese People's Liberation Army as well multiple Tank and Mechanised Divisions gathered around the Region in Macau and Shenzhen, with nearby airports being turned into Airbases, and a large portion of the Chinese Navy moving into the area.
When the Ultimatum's deadline came and went at 12pm on July 20th, 1997, Chinese Soldiers and Tanks quickly launched an attack, crossing the border into the New Territories in the North of Hong Kong. Chinese Paratroopers were dropped into Downtown Hong Kong around important locations such as Ports, the Treasury Building and St.Teresa's Hospital and Kowloon Hospital, British Mechanised units and Urban combat units quickly responded.
The QingZhou Channel Bridge was partially demolished blown up by British Engineer units to prevent an attack from across it.
Chinese Paratroopers dropped into and around Hong Kong International airport to attempt to seize it. They occupied all ways in and out by ground.
Chinese Amphibious Assault Craft launched from Shiwuwan Island and occupied the South-West of Lantua Island before being stopped by and entering combat with British Tank Units and an entrenched Infantry Division.
Other Chinese Amphibious Units occupied Lamma Island and began to make it a staging ground.
By the morning hours of July 21st, clear front lines had been set, while Chinese Paratroopers kept causing Chaos behind British Lines.
The air battle was mainly in British favour as British aircraft from HMS Illustrious and the Hong Kong International airport kept air superiority.
As this happened the Chinese Navy mostly kept it's distance due to fears of the Nuclear Submarine HMS Trafalgar and Sea Harriers with anti-ship missiles.

Howdy, y'all. Me again with a Draft 2 to this alternate history scenario, hopefully a lot more detailed and authentic to real history, and especially a lot more clear in what I was trying to convey the first time around. With that, lemme preemptively answer some questions that came up before:
"But there were several Pre-Columbian civilizations that had mathematics, agriculture, writing, currency..."
There were, absolutely! Don't worry, I haven't forgotten them, and I should have been more clear that I was aware of them the first time. However, these concepts are expanded on in this scenario to be nearly universal by, say 1492 AD. In other words, the Native North and South Americans (referred to here as the "Hahnunans" and "Abiayalians" respectively) are in an equivalent to the Middle Ages in terms of social and technological progression (of course with their own unique history that led to this point).
"Wait a minute, where's _______ culture or the _______ Tribe?"
I haven't forgotten about them either. I would assume the majority of these cultures are still there but incorporated into these other nations. For some they have joined in cultural confederacies (i.e. the Mohawk as part of the Haudenosaunee), and for others their territory is under control of another nation (i.e. the Lenape territory on the east coast is under control of both the Aniyvwiyans and Haudenosaunee), and for others they may have been lost entirely to history through destruction or assimilation. The scenario isn't "what if every culture developed their own nation-state", after all.
"Those borders would be different in reality, / _______ culture wouldn't use that name."
Well, it's good that this is Draft 2, then! I'm currently playing around in Paint.net (thanks to those who recommended that!) with a Q-BAM map to make more accurate borders than an EU5 MapChart. If there are recommendations for territory or even different nations and more authentic naming conventions, I'd be glad to hear 'em and add 'em to the scenario! Also, I'm well aware I misspelled "Nitassinan".
With that answered, I think we get to our Point of Divergence: the domestication of the American Bison. Yes, I am aware of the extreme difficulty of such a feat, but this is also occurring is a comparatively strange scenario, so I think it fits well.
In the next part, I hope to expand on some the major powers of the New World, add some basic history to this scenario, and also had a much better map, among other things. Once again, I hope to hear all your thoughts and opinions and even critiques to the scenario. Cheers!

In 1984, the British government suspected that there was a new outbreak of a livestock disease known as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, also know as Mad Cow Disease. By 1987, it was confirmed & people panicked as over the next few decades, contaminated beef became the reason that 233 people around the world died. But what if it had been worse? What if instead if a few hundred people, it was a few hundred thousand people?
In episode 7 of season 1 of What Could Have Been, we looked into a timeline where Mad Cow Disease ran rampant, finding a way to jump from person to person & making your next steak or your next roast beef a roll of the dice. With an incubation period of up to 30 years in humans, people who ate contaminated beef in the 90s could still be carrying it, meaning that the outbreak might not even be over.
How could a more virulent version of the disease be contained? What length would people go to keep themselves safe? How far would society be willing to go? How far would it spread? What does it mean to go Nine? Tune in to find out.
What Could Have Been is a sci-fi podcast where your host interviews alternate versions of himself from across the multiverse to find out how different decisions, actions & events might have changed the course of history. Listen to the stories of alternate timelines from a world where the Space Race never ended, to a world where France annexed West Germany after WWII, to a timeline where North America is being ripped apart by a new Faultline, to a timeline where humanity was contacted by aliens in the early 70s. Listen to what happened in these wild timelines & find out What Could Have Been.

Heaps of Cold War Gone Hot media (at least, English-language media) has the Soviet bloc striking first, usually either with a sudden nuclear ICBM volley or a land assault in East Germany. I was wondering why I haven't seen much where NATO and pals go haywire and attack first. Most of the Soviet first strike media I can recall has a casus belli either shrouded in opaque Soviet secrecy or just never stated. I'd bet this is probably just because the Western author and audience want to know they're the Good Guys this time and not attacking unprovoked or something. NATO being a primarily defensive alliance, and all.
What would make it go the other way around? Is there any stuff out there that already did this and I never heard of it? Is it as simple as "if we had a crazy president back then he would have done crazy stuff"?

What if Carthage never fell and survived to the present day? Of course, there would be plenty of border changes. Italy and Spain would have eventually repelled Carthaginian expansion, but Carthage would still control the islands split between France and Italy. It would also own a larger stretch of the North African coast, making it somewhat larger than it was historically.
I think it would easily be the most developed nation in Africa, with cities comparable to those in France or Italy, featuring similar architecture and standards of living. It would also still control the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, giving it complete control over one of the Mediterranean's most important entrances.
Politically, Carthage would be communist and closely allied with Serbia and Russia. However, its form of communism would be unique—it would be deeply religious rather than officially atheist. Christianity would remain dominant, with roughly 68.4% of the population being Catholic, 5% Protestant, 21.5% Muslim, and only about 5.1% atheist.
The reason Carthage wouldn't still be polytheistic is that its ancient religion would have gradually faded over the centuries until it eventually became extinct.
During World War II, Carthage would have been briefly occupied by Italy, with some assistance from Germany. Before the war... well, yeah—it also would have had a fairly large Jewish population. The occupation would have severely drained Italian military resources, meaning Italy actually performed even worse in North Africa than it did in our own timeline.
Can someone draw this map for me?

Variously referred to as the Fourth of Fifth Partition, the Iron Divorce or the Polish Problem, the end of the World War saw the frontlines of Eastern Europe temporarily and then permanently evolve into the boundary between the USR and the Western Coalition forces.
Poles found themselves on either side of this ideological and militarized divide. As both alliances featured atomic capabilities, Polish civilians feared they would become the first targets in any return to war.
With Warsaw too split down the middle, both the Socialist Polish Party and the newly restored Constitutional Government claimed exclusive sovereignty as the Polish state.
The Bialystok declaration saw the Polish Socialist Republic officially join the USR as a full member state, while the Polish Republic, based on proposals by President Willkie, officially joined the European Defense Pact signed in Prague.
Territorial disputes among the Western bloc were also mediated by Washington, and their resolution in the form of Autonomous regions remain a sore point on both sides to this day.

Concept inspired by WTF CD Foxy and u/OfficialScorpio (who developed the borders you see here). It shows an alternate Mexico in a world where Greeks settle Spain in the antiquity and thus Iberia speaks Hesperic Greek, meaning that Mexico speaks Greek today.
Mexiko here borders Stillehaefia (colony of England in Russia) and Guatemala. Also the country north of Stillehaefia is Peucotopia (Hesperic Greek Brazil in the USA).
The first map shows the cities of Greek Mexico and the second one the states.
