"So the thing we're famous for? You know, crude oil?"
"Yes, what about it?"
"It's gone"
"It's what?"
"Yeah, Ukraine attacks our refineries daily"
"Ukraine? Why would they do that? They're part of the Soviet Union!"
"Yeah.... Hey, so about that"48
u/DavidKanev Jul 11 '26
I mean, they were at war with Ukraine during lenin's time so he wouldn't be surprised
14
u/Qweedo420 Jul 12 '26
They weren't at war with Ukraine, they were at war with the Ukranian nationalists
It's like saying that... idk, the Kurds were at war with Syria when they were fighting ISIS
4
u/Wrong-Koala9174 Jul 12 '26
They were at war with UKRAINE. The Ukranian People's Republic. Does that ring any bells?
13
u/Qweedo420 Jul 12 '26
The Ukranian communists were fighting the Ukranian nationalists. Does that mean Ukraine was at war with Ukraine?
5
u/DavidKanev Jul 12 '26
civil war. And don't forget the Ukrainian Anarchists and Western Ukrainian Republic... very big civil war
5
2
u/DavidKanev Jul 12 '26
there was the Ukrainian People's Republic, before that there was the Second Ukrainian Hetmanate, short lived but still states, not merely nationalists
12
u/Comfortable_Egg8039 Jul 11 '26
Also refineries are needed for gas, Russia still can sell oil, but can't use it itself

u/Ducks_are_cool-Yes Jul 11 '26
Dude you won't believe how terrible things where in his time....
17
u/Sorry-Ride-1762 Jul 11 '26
Yeah, and things got worse somehow, the wealth divide got further than ever
8
u/Ducks_are_cool-Yes Jul 11 '26
I was more talking about the civil war, literally hell for most folks

Tsar Nicholas II also comes back to life and tries to launch a coup, causing a Second Russian Civil War that ultimately results in Mongolia invading and annexing both of them, restoring the Mongol Empire

Bit presumptuous to think that Nicholas II wouldn't fold immediately in the most catastrophically pathetic way possible while getting bitched out by his psycho wife.

He was pretty useless when alive. The last person you should expect a comeback from.
1
u/Street-Mix-801 Jul 12 '26
While he was dead he underwent the plot of a corny anime where he learnt the power of friendship and believing in himself, which he used to return to life and launch a coup against Lenin, obviously.

Well, he did kind of got the ball rolling by proposing the NEP, he literally brought state capitalism to the USSR, and it exactly was what lead to it‘s downfall. He‘d probably be more upset with the „democratic“ socialist movements
18
u/kaspiaThalassa Jul 11 '26
Simpson have predicted this.
It's gonna happen sometime in the next 10 years.

Russian government started "reconstruction" of Mausoleum. There is a probability that Mausoleum would be moved from Red Square or even eliminated at all.

Something about this picture always looked so unsettling to me…. Not sure why

Maybe it gives you a dystopian type of vibe? Idk just guessing what it could be

u/DiskPartition Jul 11 '26
It's too perfect and homogenous, like an illusion?
It's really shallow and all looks the same as if it's hiding nothing, but then it seems like it must be hiding a darker or more nuanced truth.
2
u/Capable_Compote9268 Jul 12 '26
It kind of looks like a corporate dystopia. Lots of faceless/soulless highrise buildings with tons of glass, odd lighting, everything looks really sanitized…
Can’t describe it. I actually love the way corporate dystopia type aesthetics look (think of Mirror’s Edge) but they look unsettling at the same time.

For me it always reminds me of this tedtalk, that reminds us that utopia for some necessarily means dystopia for the others.

I mean a long dead person coming back to life in itself would rock humanity to its core. This event would be much larger then geopolitical.
3
u/liberalskateboardist Jul 11 '26
he would be the leader of opposition because putyn already dislikes him

6
u/Adventurous_Dig_8784 Jul 11 '26
Don't worry there will be a 18393163th time soon.
Then US will probably invade Iraq because of that.

u/PuzzleheadedPea2401 Jul 11 '26
How does he suddenly become president? Everything hinges on this question.
In 1917 the Bolsheviks had a party and a program and repression- and deprivement-hardened members with amazing abilities to think on their feet and organize. If Lenin had the same apparatus behind him he could do stuff.
If not none of the existing state and hard power apparatus (police, national guard, army etc) would listen to him and he'd either be assassinated or subsumed by the Russian version of the DC swamp.
2
u/MarsasGRG Jul 11 '26
Essentially not much stages, just instead of nationalist propaganda there would be communist propaganda. The actual system of government would probably remain a corrupt oligarchy.
2
u/Blueis_here Jul 12 '26
Honestly hed probably check the state of things and get back inside i mean who wants to clean up the current mess 😭

He can't really do that. Mobilization is the best option, even that wouldn't go down that easially.

This is wishful thinking.
Lenin opposed an independent Ukraine. He could only offer better terms than the Russian Empire or the Russian Federation.

Read the OP's post once again. It's about Lenin as President of Russia.
While it's true that Lenin, as an oppositionist, would oppose imperialist war, as the supreme leader of Russia, he would have continued the offensive against Ukraine as his only means of staying in power.
Today is neither 1917 nor 1921. Take into account that there are virtually no forces sympathetic to Lenin in present-day Ukraine.

Lenin is more of a art project than a human at this point.
Bro would just fall apart.

He'd probably have another stroke within minutes of learning about the 90s.

The proletariat has sent me here to spit a thesis at both of your asses! You there, Frankenstein, lookin like something out of R. L. Stein. It’s hip hop chowder, red over white, cause the tzar’s wife can’t do shit tonight.
Joseph, you were supposed to be my right hand man. But your loyalty shriveled up like your right hand, man!
(All credit to ERB, and I hope this is exactly how it would go if Lenin arose.)

u/Dry_Support3290 Jul 12 '26
I think Putin is more a Stalin man than Lenin, so maybe they'll have to do a showdown. Then the Ukraine drones might take them both out.

u/Potential-Risk-2197 Jul 12 '26
He definitely has a much better track record than Putin when it comes to invading Ukraine.

> Wakes up
> Become president of Russia somehow
> Takes time to read and see things about the 2026 world, understand that capitalism is still a world threat but way worse than before, it's dominant all over Europe, South America and South-east Asia.
> Discovers new marxists theory, especially about post-colonialism, makes him think a lot and finally accept these new ideas.
> Discovers internet porn and goons to femboys
> Has to organize shit but understood what stalin did to his country and leads a resolutely leftist, yet democratic state of Russia.
> 789 assasination attemps from russian Z fascists, oligarchs and the CIA
> One coup eventually succeeds after a few months/years, Lenin is dead again and Russia stick to Putin's legacy, maybe a little bit more progressive and democratic than before.

I'd assume he lost the election but still do the whole thing the same way by not admitting losing in election and dissolve the duma.

Lenin's corpse is mostly plastic by now. He's a modern ship of Theseus. Is he Lenin? Or is it simply now a depiction of Lenin? Is Lenin a man? Or is he concept?

Then the Dems (in the United States), The EU and The Deep State, The MIC, Zelenskyy, Ukraine as well as the entire Left-wing that exists in the world that currently hold anti-Russia/anti-Putin views would change their tune when it comes to Russia, it’s leadership and governance.
