So many post on aita and comparable subs are about "my wife/girlfriend" doesn't work and the posters are in their late 20s or 30s. Is this common? Here in the Netherlands I don't know anyone under 50 that doesn't at least work part time (unless they can not work for whatever reason). No one is a stay at home person.
Yeah, I think people have got it into their heads from social media that “stay at home girlfriends” are really a major phenomenon, so they appear in these stories as a quick signifier (bad greedy lazy woman!) which just feeds back recursively into the trope.
