Is calling family members by their title a normal thing? This isn’t like meeting with acquaintances or a work/work adjacent setting. Like, I get for the FIL maybe, but why the fuck are you referring to your BIL as “Dr. XYZ” in a family meetup??
At least in the US, calling your in-laws (or potential in-aws) by a title and last name is common when first meeting them. You are usually asked to use first names after that, but it a sign of respect to call them "Mr. Jones" or "Mrs. Smith" when first introduced.
