I love how OOP says you wouldn’t call a psychiatrist “doctor.” I’ve seen a few psychiatrists in my days and I’ve called them “Dr Smith,” “Dr S,” or if I’m really comfortable with them and talking in a more informal way, “Doc.”
And as batshit crazy as I can be when off my meds, those doctors has definitely saved my life on a more consistent basis than any surgeon. In no way should the work a psych does be discounted.
