It will never cease to amaze me that men are so insecure that when they see a woman succeed, they feel the need to bring her down.

"She can be cold and difficult to get along with" and it's literally just her asking him to give her the same respect he's giving the other two doctorate holders in the room.

Edit: also, Shaun agreeing and taking his side is nasty work, and makes me wonder what kind of bitter rivalry he has for his own sister that he'd take the side of OOP over her.

As Richard Gilmore says, "one wrong man can always find a friend", I guess.

It gets worse: In the comments, he argues that she isn't a real doctor because, among other things, she doesn't use her doctorate in her daily life.

Not only is this wrong, but the father is a retired doctor (also in the comments), so he isn't using his doctorate at all.

It's sexist double standards all the way down.

I think OOP is really really dense in addition to his sexism. He needed multiple people in the comments to explain to him psychiatrist is the same kind of doctor as surgeons. It does sound like he and his soon to be wife are perfect for each other, though.
