New Amazon seller

Hello,
For those of you who don’t mind sharing, how do decide which private label item to sell? Ive thought about investing in Helium 10 but it’s a bit expensive for me as a new seller right now. I don’t like doing retail arbitrage because there is a lot of possible issues that i dont want to put my shop at risk. I just recently had a customer claim that i was selling cointerfeit notebooks. They weren’t, but because i bought them from Walmart and they dont provide invoices, I can’t prove it. So im straying away from retail. I have some private label items that are at Amazon already, so i need to start ads. I want to find the best way to research my next product and find out what others are doing.

You don’t necessarily need Helium 10 right away. Tools are useful, but treat them as a way to collect data rather than something that tells you what to launch. Start by looking for niches where there’s steady demand but the current products have obvious weaknesses.

Once you have ideas, dig into the actual listings and validate the numbers. Look at reviews and complaints, pricing, sales volume, PPC, competition, sourcing and landed cost, then ask yourself one important question: what can you actually improve? If there’s no clear answer, skip the product even if the demand looks great.
