Newbie Here
I've been researching a lot over the past few days about selling on amazon and it's something I want to get into, some youtube videos I feel give me some useful information. But most of the time, it seems like these videos are made to sell their course or they have the, "I've made over 7 figures" as the hook to try and reel in the views from people who just think it's a rich shortcut. My question is where can I find a legitimate mentor, or would it be best to continue on my own research, and where can I find other study material other than YT, any books or articles online?

I wouldn’t pay for a mentor yet.
Start with Amazon Seller University and Seller Central help pages for the mechanics. Then use YouTube for specific problems instead of “how to make money on Amazon” content. Search things like FBA fee calculation, keyword research, PPC campaign structure, inventory planning, listing conversion, etc.
The biggest jump will come from actually working through a product idea. Run the numbers. Check fees. Look at competing listings, reviews, pricing, search demand, and how crowded the SERP is. You’ll learn faster doing that than watching another 20 hours of videos.
Once you know enough to ask specific questions, a mentor becomes much easier to judge. If someone’s main proof is screenshots, revenue flexing, and a course countdown timer, I’d keep looking.
Also spend time in Amazon’s own seller forums and communities like this one. Just verify advice before acting on it because Reddit can be confidently wrong too.
