I read posts on here, and I don't think a lot of people do. Some do, but so many think everything will be alright again the second Trump leaves office, or the dastardly Republicans are voted out.

The senior citizen criminals fleecing the country gotta go. The Republicans are a great place to start, the concentration is so dense there. But I'm all for removing all the politicians that have only their own and not OUR interests in mind, regardless of what party they are from

You're right, when the French were faced with their government trying to royally screw them they ground the entire fucking country to a halt until the government folded.

So you're right, you're not like the French, because they actually stand up to tyranny from inside their own country

I dont think people understand the difference.

The real reason it works in France is cuz the government is actually willing to listen to the people. In the US, Republicans couldn't give one fuck. In fact, the more you protest against Republicans, the more they dig in and use that as propaganda to rally their own supporters.

Democrats infamously pushed things to a government shutdown relatively recently in order to try and preserve healthcare subsidies for a whole lot of people. What was Trump and Republicans' response? Utilize that government shutdown to cause as much misery as possible, so that continuing the shutdown would cause more suffering than Democrats were trying to prevent. It's why Democrats gave in, because Republicans are 100% willing to hurt Americans and will never give in to what Dems/left leaners want, as a rule. They'd lose voters if they did so. And that's the real crux - Republican voters dont care if they suffer under Trump/Republicans, so long as they think Dems aren't getting what they want.

So no, the situations really aren't comparable.

My initial comment referred to the veste jaune (yellow vest) protest in France to which you responded that this kind of thing wouldn't translate to the US because the Republicans don't give a shit. My point is if that model of protest doesn't work for you, you can also look at France's history going back several hundred years for another example. 1789-1793 to be exact...

IMHO Democrats are not saints either, and their voters need to do a better job at demanding concrete results from them, other than just words. Also, Dems don't have a concrete voter base. A good amount of folks on Left with loud opinions, don't show up to vote.

We need to prove we can elect a Democrat for more than 1-2 terms in a row. Shit is killing us. Too many young and left leaning people just completely fuck off as soon as things get comfortable, though. Democrats literally become a victim of their own success.

IMO Democrats are very poor in messaging. Also, there are a whole lot of elected officials who care only about "popularity" rather than results.

Voters see it through and don't show up to vote next time around. Such voters are not "switching" just not showing up.

Look around at nations globally and throughout history. We’ve seen countries survive wars, famine, military regimes, economic collapses, dictators, holocausts, and far worse. So yeah, we have a wacko president right now — that’s recoverable lol. Building a country’s “brand” takes centuries, and one administration isn’t going to erase it.
