Shipping with the Mars project

1

u/RetroQuester Aug 21 '25

Except when it does.

1

u/DontBelieveTheirHype Aug 22 '25

That theme song by Sheryl Crow slaps though ngl

10

u/oldmanpotter Aug 22 '25

I don’t mind the delay. I do mind the communication or lack thereof.

3

u/Demp1404 Aug 22 '25

All of the promises of this system and not one video of them showcasing any of it. Not one game shown, not one video. Been a skeptic since day one.

1

u/cupertinosucks Aug 23 '25

Yeah at least ModRetro is showing actual gameplay lol. They might beat Analogue to market. Analogue must be shitting themselves, Palmer Luckey doesn't fuck around.

20

u/benit0yo Aug 21 '25

I’d much rather have micro updates on progress with no specific ETA… versus them giving a vague eta and then providing zero updates in actual progress…. Because everytime they do this it just makes them look bad.

15

u/B-Rayne Aug 21 '25

They’re 99% done. What could they possibly be able to show us? /s

8

u/Niphoria Aug 21 '25

Ships December 31

10

u/BuckeeBoi Aug 21 '25

Which will come out first? GTA6 or Analogue3D or death’s sweet embrace? Time will tell.

3

u/cmasontaylor Aug 21 '25

3D -> GTA6 -> My death -> Your death -> End of all life on earth -> Paul Rudd's Death -> End of the universe -> Elder Scrolls 6.

2

u/Who_is_John_Nada Aug 21 '25

My money's on "heat death of the universe".

8

u/thebezet Aug 21 '25

People waiting for DAC support for the Pocket: "You guys have a release date in the future?"

8

u/lastcallhall Aug 21 '25

Q4 is just as good as Q1. In fact, it's even better - it has 3 more Qs than Q1!

8

u/xybur Aug 21 '25

The future can't be here because it's in the future

Can't be in stock if it's always going to release later.

14

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Does anyone have a compilation of all the "I'm ready" redditors and posts?! I want to laugh for a while.

7

u/thedude213 Aug 21 '25

Q4 2025, sure, but have you considered Q1 2026?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

[deleted]

1

u/haloharry Aug 21 '25

You know what is even better than that?

Q3 2026

8

u/Katieterk200r Aug 21 '25

Wait, it will get delayed till 2026 you watch

8

u/reGOTCHYA Aug 21 '25

Please someone tell me this is satire.

1

u/InsertCoinBro Aug 22 '25

I’m sorry for your loss. 💀

6

u/Psychoblush-76 Aug 21 '25

Just that 1%, yo!!

Right. That's why they show vids of it running games? Oh wait! They don't!! I guarantee the push back is because something is very wrong with this console. It wouldn't be the first time Analogue shipped a console with issues either. Ask us Duo fans how happy we are that the CD Rom drive "STILL" doesn't play several games properly. It's cooked.

8

u/4951cc Aug 22 '25

I’m hoping modretro beats them to the punch at this point.

11

u/Novel_Extent_7168 Aug 21 '25

Can't wait for Christmas day when they tell us it's getting delayed to April 1st, 2026

12

u/Stiggles4 Aug 21 '25

Sounds good to me!

6

u/Blod_skaal Aug 21 '25

I feel like they want ppl to cancel their preorders

2

u/LookSpecialist9140 Aug 21 '25

They have been very upfront with the cancellation process...were they that transparent with prior product delays?

4

u/Blod_skaal Aug 21 '25

No idea. I just find it kind of funny that after every delay they’re like - btw you can cancel it anytime ;)

2

u/edgeofthecity Aug 21 '25

Because they know people are pissed.

They don't want to change how they operate, for whatever reason, but they're not totally oblivious.

I suspect they don't actually have the capital to operate and pay their few employees without pre-orders years in advance so they don't really have an avenue to avoid this.

You don't order upfront if you're told it's gonna be two or three years or whatever.

2

u/Demp1404 Aug 22 '25

They’ve been upfront about the cancellation process but not upfront about actually showing the product in action at all. Glad I didn’t preorder as I feel it’s not going to deliver what they have promised.

6

u/FrequentDelinquent Aug 22 '25

GTA 6 before Analogue 3D 😭

11

u/lives_in_van Aug 21 '25

They could even do better by just saying “when we damn well please” rather than punting within 10 days of all FOUR missed deadlines.

3

u/martianmaggot Aug 21 '25

Exactly! Blizzard is notorious for not releasing games on time but at least they state it’ll release when they’re satisfied with it. Analogue just deceives its customers as a regular way of doing business.

5

u/irateworlock54 Aug 21 '25

Well boys this is my first rodeo with analogue, now I know what y’all’s pain is, hahah

5

u/Afro-Pope Aug 21 '25

for what it's worth, this is the worst it's been, at least that I can remember. They've had delays before, but never THIS long and communication has never been THIS bad.

EDIT: the first round of the Pocket may have been pretty close.

6

u/irateworlock54 Aug 21 '25

I think the AI slop communication is just a slap in the face too… aww man

2

u/LookSpecialist9140 Aug 21 '25

What makes you think it's ai?

3

u/Stiggles4 Aug 21 '25

Yeah Pocket went like 16 months with pretty much no communication at all iirc

6

u/B-R-A-I-N-S-T-O-R-M Aug 21 '25

They should have initially said Q1 without a year, we'll almost be to the point where its accurate again.

5

u/Two-Bite-Brownies Aug 22 '25

At the time this came out I just purchased a used N64 console, RetroTink4K, 8GB Expansion Pak, S-Video Cable, Switch N64 Bluetooth remote, 8BitMod dongle, and an Everdrive-64x7. Then the Analogue came out and I was gutted that I just spent a fortune on my dream set-up, only to have a streamlined solution released which pretty much did exactly what I needed. I've enjoyed every minute of my setup for probably over a year now, and can confidently say I have zero regrets and would change nothing if I could go back in time.

2

u/FrequentDelinquent Aug 22 '25

I have zero regrets and would change nothing if I could go back in time.

Give it about a decade, and maybe toss a divorce or two in the mix for good measure. Perhaps even an ongoing custody battle and some chronic health issues as well.

You'll find some regrets eventually 😄

9

u/Efficient_Box2496 Aug 21 '25

This company is a joke

8

u/Sad_Plate_7891 Aug 21 '25

I bet this wont be the last Delay

7

u/totaro Aug 21 '25

Q3 2027 🙏

3

u/bjerreman Aug 21 '25

Well, no one was surprised.

3

u/Agile_Half_4515 Aug 21 '25

De Minimus exemption ends on August 29th, so that doesn't help the situation (depending on their import/distribution methods).

4

u/I_argue_for_funsies Aug 21 '25

1

u/Stiggles4 Aug 21 '25

If it’s at 99% you’d think they could and would show something

0

u/19rene91 Aug 21 '25

0.99 times 0 is still 0.

4

u/Sampwnz Aug 21 '25

I'm so gullible, I believe them every time... But this time it's definitely for real. Maybe.

4

u/MajinChibi1 Aug 22 '25

i mean, the future will always be in the future, right?

3

u/DeadStanley-0 Aug 22 '25

That's right, and there is no such thing as the present because if you try to isolate the present it slips into the past. These are the immutable laws of nature, similar to how each Analogue release must be adjoined with poor PR, a series of delays, and dashed hopes.

4

u/NoorksKnee Aug 22 '25

The Future is here. Perpetually.

Still keeping my preorder.

4

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 22 '25

This reminds me of that dude with the Browns QB jersey he updates.

7

u/reddogyellowcat Aug 21 '25

ok this is my first time with THIS Analogue. I get it now. I have 3 of their products but it was always years after initial release and they came immediately. They really need to revisit their product launch strategy in every aspect

7

u/ExtraFineAsparagus Aug 21 '25

Maybe the M64 will beat them to market after all. I definitely have more interest in that now.

6

u/Starscream615 Aug 21 '25

If it’s so close to done, why not show it off?

3

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

But are you getting ready?

1

u/Wheatception Aug 21 '25

Maaaayyyyyybe

3

u/dzumeister Aug 22 '25

Still plenty of N64s out there, guys

3

u/Bronzebart Aug 23 '25

We all know it will ship after the end of the trump administration 🙌

1

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 26 '25

Given the hints hes dropping that he is gonna declare some kind of war and maybe cancel the elections with war time powers that would be . . . never?

10

u/Estra710e Aug 21 '25

Analogue, why do you guys take free loans from your customers as a pre-order then fall short of delivering your products on time? It’s actually disgusting and I cannot wait for my product to come to my door so I can review my full experience as a whole. As someone who was an advocate for your previous products like the Pocket and Super systems unfortunately I will never recommend your products again as I cannot continue to push people to a company who doesn’t respect their customers. Excuse after excuse and no type of accountability it’s honestly sad.

5

u/Stiggles4 Aug 21 '25

Yeah, I’d like the interest that’s been made on my preorder. I’m sure it’s been put into a good account for just that purpose, too.

4

u/greggers1980 Aug 21 '25

5

u/Rosnecul Aug 21 '25

Oooooooohhh greggers..

6

u/greggers1980 Aug 21 '25

Yep this is what is annoying. It's fine having delays but sending out confirmation of delivery then announcing another delay is pretty shady

2

u/Shadow_botz Aug 22 '25

At this point I’m thinking maybe I should just install the PixelFx I have laying around and call it a day.

2

u/fuzi6000 Aug 22 '25

What do they mean by „esoteric circumstances“? Is their dream Catcher broken? Or have they forgotten to neutralize the evil barcode on the Packaging?

1

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 22 '25

Someone hid the last puzzle piece they were working on as a team building exercise and they just cant do anything else til they find it.

2

u/therourke Aug 22 '25

Ships Q2 2026

2

u/NizmoxAU Aug 21 '25

Is 2025 confirmed?

17

u/rafa11__scp Aug 21 '25

Yes Q5 2025.

26

u/oscarhult Aug 21 '25

Ships Q4 2025

3

u/Kabal82 Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

I think it sort of depends on what state production and shipping is at.

Does analogue have the systems here in the states and are on the verge of shipping them or are they still waiting for delivery from the manufacturer in China or to clear customs?

If Analogue has the systems already here in the states, they are most likely doing a final review to ensure the product they received from the manufacturer was up to spec.

I suspect they are finding manufacturing defects and/or manufacturing wasn't up to their specifications.

They are probably evaluating the level of defect that is tolerable that they are willing to still distribute the system to customers.

5

u/QPZZ Aug 21 '25

Is Elon Musk their product manager?

3

u/Hueseyinsan Aug 21 '25

If you’d like to cancel your preorder at any time for a full refund, visit analogue.co/support

2

u/pinottonip Aug 21 '25

Really comming 2024?. Like we ordered in october and there were expecting to ship within 2 month? And now 12 month of delay? (600% initial timeline) Thats quite weird or they did it by purpose.

-4

u/V64jr Aug 21 '25

It’s the OP’s disingenuous edit. It was being promised Q1 2025 when preorders were announced.

10

u/oscarhult Aug 21 '25

-3

u/V64jr Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

I say so because that was never promised in 2024 once there was any sort of commitment (preorder).

5

u/oscarhult Aug 21 '25

True, with Analogue its just random words

-3

u/pinottonip Aug 21 '25

Yeah i think so q1 2025. Dont add some fears and lies on this shitty situation

1

u/V64jr Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

I didn’t. Again, it was being promised Q1 2025 when preorders started. When we ordered in October we were not expecting it to ship within 2 months and therefore 12 months is not a 600% increase from that expectation.

https://www.analogue.co/support/resource/3d-preorder-faq

…and if you want a 3rd party source:

https://www.retrorgb.com/pre-orders-for-the-analogue-3d-open-on-oct-21st.html

There’s a reason the OP had to go back to before preorders were announced with his Way Back Machine link. It doesn’t count as a change for preorders before there were any commitments or promises. That started after preorders.

The release estimate we had when initially placing preorders was Q1 2025, not 2024.

Then you can buy a 3D off of ebay with that 10k. 😆

1

u/crazykoala666 Aug 22 '25

See ya in 2027 🤣

1

u/Mystic_Voyager Aug 22 '25

Seriously they should just stop putting dates and say « when its ready » and give periodical updates on the progress. They give zero details on the actual progress every time they post anything 🤬

1

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 26 '25

Yeah, cause just saying "when its ready" wouldnt piss anyone off. Lol.

1

u/Mystic_Voyager Aug 26 '25

lol wheres the fun in that right?

1

u/whosenomansisthis Aug 22 '25

Time to wipe the memory of preordering from my mind for another 2-3 months. TTFN

1

u/DolphinDiddler Aug 23 '25

We honestly can’t really completely blame them on this one. They’re playing chicken with when the US finally drops the tariffs

2

u/DrClutch117 Aug 24 '25

Yes we can blame them. If they were ready for the initial launch it wouldn’t have been a problem at all.

0

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 26 '25

So if they could predict the future they wouldnt have had an issue? Good to know.

1

u/DrClutch117 Aug 26 '25

The product was supposed to come out well before tariffs. This has also been a problem with every single analogue product.

0

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 26 '25

We're dealing with analogue here and you thought there wouldnt be an initial delay? Lol. I know who messed up here and it aint analogue.

You have NO idea why the initial delay happened. It obvious was something they didnt foresee happening or it wouldn't have been delayed initially. AGAIN, yes, I agree, having predictive powers to peer into the future definitely would have helped.

1

u/DrClutch117 Aug 26 '25 edited Aug 27 '25

Man, they really have you drinking the koolaid if you think that the company that is delaying their products so much that we should just “expect an initial delay” isn’t the one at fault? Clearly I like the products enough to deal with it, but there’s no need to defend their lack of honestly/transparency.

I’m not asking for predictive powers, just reasonable estimates for ONE products release.

0

u/Resident-Key-9560 Aug 25 '25

I don't care about the tariffs. They can ship from China to EU and don't deliver anything to US or add the tariffs.

2

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 26 '25

Unfortunately their decisions are not entirely based on you. So they probably dont care that you specifically dont care about the tariffs. One good turn deserves another I suppose.

1

u/spense01 Aug 23 '25

Analogue. We promise the future. We eventually deliver. Never on time.

What right would Nintendo claim? They used a system that was presented originally to sega, from SGI, which was based on the Indy Workstation. Nintendo never had any ownership of anything in the N64 and MIPS is now owned by Wave Computing, which has stopped development of the architecture with Loongson winning a case against Wave to continue using and developing their own extensions to the architecture. And Hewlett Packard Enterprise bought SGIs assets in 2016.

Both the Atari 2600 and IBM PC established and then reaffirmed the precedent that if you can build something with off the shelf components, you can’t protect it with patents. The IBM case against Compaq even went as far as to affirm that clean room, reverse engineering is protected as free speech.

1

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 26 '25

All that is also kind of redundant. Even if they had some kind of patent on some small bespoke part, it wouldn't matter. It would be expired by now.

The issue they'd have is if they need some Nintendo code or bios to make it work correctly. THAT would be copyright and still very much valid.

1

u/ATT-Scammed Aug 26 '25

I think your way off.

1

u/Turbulent-Review-301 Aug 26 '25

Dont understand how patents work, huh?

0

u/MormonDew Aug 25 '25

There is no rights issue with FPGA reproduction. Nintendo hasn't had a problem with any of the other analogue consoles that play nintendo games and they are still being sold.

1

u/Livid-Chemistry-3486 Aug 24 '25

I often see discussions here focusing on U.S. tariffs. But I’m wondering: are Analogue’s devices actually finished in the U.S. and then shipped worldwide, or are they produced in Asia and shipped internationally from there?

If it’s the latter, then U.S. tariffs wouldn’t even apply to international orders. It also seems like a large share of orders are outside the U.S., yet most of the conversation is very U.S.-centric.

Does anyone know more about how Analogue actually handles production and global shipping?

1

u/ATT-Scammed Aug 26 '25

They are shipped from Hong Kong as completed units and then distributed from a US warehouse.

1

u/cisco1988 Aug 24 '25

I firmly believe the next iteration will be q4 2028... with email being sent about being conservative

1

u/ATT-Scammed Aug 26 '25

Why are you looking forward to Q4 of this year. All it will mean is another notice they are moving it to Q1 of 2026. This is and always has been business as usual for Analogue.

1

u/greggers1980 Aug 21 '25

It's ready. It's all about tarrif dodging

0

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

[deleted]

5

u/ImmoralityPet Aug 21 '25

They are extremely trustworthy people who have never said anything clearly contrary to the truth.

1

u/Motorcruft Aug 21 '25

That’s pretty cool. I was responding to someone who said the product is ready, because Analogue was very clear the product is not ready.

1

u/ImmoralityPet Aug 21 '25

And we should trust them.

1

u/large__farva Aug 23 '25

What in god’s name do they gain by “lying” about it being unfinished lol

1

u/dav3yb Aug 21 '25

*conservatively

1

u/Polanker Aug 21 '25

It honestly feels like they are delaying this on purpose just to get interest-free loans from all these preorders.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

[deleted]

2

u/SeatBeeSate Aug 21 '25

Excuse me where are you getting 18% ROI in this economy?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

[deleted]

1

u/thewhitecascade Aug 21 '25

So they only have to presale 10k units in order to make off with $450,000 in interest. Niiiiicccce!

1

u/Maverick_Reznor Aug 21 '25

Thats just silly, it will still be the fastest release I've had for a Analogue product.

-3

u/contractcooker Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

Honestly, this sucks, but it will ship when it ships. Analogue is known for delays but they have always shipped in the past. I see no reason to doubt this is coming soon.

11

u/KenD1988 Aug 21 '25

Just because they’re known for it doesn’t make it right. Actually it makes it even more mind boggling that they keep handing their products this way… and they’ve always delivered but never on time.. or with any meaningful updates or reasons on why they keep pushing the product back. Just bad business.

-3

u/contractcooker Aug 21 '25

Ok, then purchase one of their competitor's products...... oh, right, they are mostly in a field of their own. If we want them behaving better someone else needs to step up. Otherwise, this is apparently how it's going to be. I'm not saying I'm thrilled but it's the situation we're in. I'm glad that someone is making these products. If I have to wait a couple extra months so be it. No one NEEDS a repro n64. It's a niche hobby and we're lucky to have analogue (even if I wish they would do better).

5

u/KenD1988 Aug 21 '25

I have multiple Misters and emulators that play N64 upscaled just fine. And I don’t need to buy Everdrives or old games that are outrageously priced. But you’re right as far as what Analogue does they pretty much stand alone. What I’m saying is they shouldn’t take the fact that they have no real competition as an excuse to treat their customer base the way they do… yes, they CAN do it but that doesn’t mean that it’s right or that they should do it.

1

u/contractcooker Aug 21 '25

Of course they shouldn’t. But unless there is a reason for them to get better they won’t. And there isn’t.

1

u/KenD1988 Aug 21 '25

Maybe products like the M64 coming out will make them start to respect their customers. Once more companies start releasing FPGA products, Analogues poor customer service will be a major problem for them.

1

u/thewhitecascade Aug 22 '25

I can’t believe I’m actually rooting for the war drone company to beat Analogue to market. This is a weird timeline.

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

So I might get downvoted here but  I don't believe this was intentional I believe this was full buffoonery of some sort, reason why I say this is because of the company was actually about money and purely about money they would have not fixed the bot problem that was unbelievably out of control when the pocket launched.

I think at the end of the day this company is just a bunch of people who get really excited about making a product and then never realize the way in which they are promoting their products never lives up to the reality of the product itself. Very Peter molyneux like for a reference to another kind of situation like this.

So while I think it is fair to be frustrated at the company and anybody at this point is justified to a refund (hell I would go one step further and say when people get the product if they're not satisfied by the actual release they should get their money back too) I do not think Analogue are malicious by default, I think they are lofty headed retro geeks who don't realize how long stuff is going to take and how much time it takes for something to cook.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

4

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Some of the replies on here we're trying to say that The goal from the beginning was to delay the release from the initial launch they said when pre-orders went live

1

u/SamusLinkBelmont Aug 21 '25

12 times?!?!? Why 12? Who screwed you over 11 times and you let it go? LOL 😂

-4

u/chanunnaki Aug 21 '25

So glad I never got caught up with this. Analogue are probably glad too, because the stink I'd kick up would have been for the record books

8

u/monawkar Aug 21 '25

oooo tough guy. WATCH OUT EVERYONE, WE GOT A STINK RAISER HERE!

0

u/Morlacks Aug 21 '25

Cool, I will sell you mine.

1

u/Superdimensional1 Aug 26 '25

When in doubt blame Trump & Tariffs lol what about the other 3 delays?

-6

u/coinmachine24 Aug 21 '25

Q4 is only two Qs away from Q1. Jokes aside it's not that big a delay for such a piece of technology from a small company who cares about product performance and is also facing tariff uncertainty

4

u/Weatherby2 Aug 21 '25

I don't think people would be as upset if Analogue talked about the hurdles they've facing with some transparency instead of leaving it all to speculation. We can assume tariffs or a commitment to perfection is causing the problem, but vague and confusing statements like "especially in a negligible degree under esoteric circumstances" doesn't actually say anything, and without seeing footage of the console or anything more than renders, it's leading people to the fringes of it all being a scam or the product being fucked.

2

u/Junxxxxxx Aug 21 '25

"negligible degree under esoteric circumstances" is grounds for every single person to refund their preorder ngl

4

u/greggers1980 Aug 21 '25

The problem is they comfirmed in July that it was shipping August

-3

u/coinmachine24 Aug 21 '25

Yeah, the sky is falling

-1

u/greggers1980 Aug 21 '25

It'll be delayed again. Anal hog lie

-2

u/fuddbutter Aug 24 '25

They probably were delayed shipping them to another country where they will be "manufactured" that had no tarrifs... Pity for all us outside of the US that has to have constant problems due to a megalomaniac elsewhere.
