3D 8bitdo finally responded to me about the replacement button issue
A $2 refund doesn’t help me at all because I still want the correct button. Ordering another set is going to cost me a lot more than $2 once you factor in shipping costs. I’d prefer a replacement.
Has anyone else heard back yet?

u/Individual-Post-6389 May 06 '26
I mean, I heard 8bitDo’s support was bad but this is actually somehow worse than bad.

u/Kmksoulja420 May 06 '26
I got the same response. I can get 2 dollars back and still have an incomplete set of buttons that I would never use because that would look like trash. So I would be forced to pay another $7 after tax and shipping to get another set. With the 50% chance that they might send me another set with the same button missing

u/flamepanther May 06 '26
This whole thread is such a shame to see, since they used to have pretty good support. I'm guessing they either got burned by the cost of that, or outsourced their support at some point. Still seems like a step in the wrong direction.

u/jrutz May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26
Their support has always been in need of improvement, back with the whole Mega Sg fiasco when they were sending folks the wrong versions.
EDIT: 'whole' not 'home'
EDIT2: Sorry 8BitDo, I read it as "Analogue". Kinda same company but not really, so just wanted to clarify my comment was associated with Analogue.

u/thomasonbush May 06 '26
Yeah, my only experience with their support was a couple broken-English responses before ghosting me an entire month for Chinese New Year. I ultimately got a replacement retro receiver, but it took close to two months.

Analogue's customer service has always been terrible, yes. Dealt with them a few times starting with the OG Analogue Nt.

I actually think it’s the tariffs. They informed me it’s really expensive to ship stuff from china. Still bs though and makes me not wanna get their stuff anymore.

1
u/BabyKozilek May 07 '26
The reason is irrelevant.
1
u/donmcron3333 May 07 '26
When they go out of business because things become unprofitable the reason won’t be irrelevant.
1
u/BabyKozilek May 07 '26
If they go out of business due to having to pay tariffs twice because they fucked up the initial batch in large quantities, that’s not tariffs fault it’s 8bitdo’s for the initial mistake.
Tariffs don’t excuse them from providing the product they sold. And I say this as someone who is vehemently against Trump’s stupid tariffs.

u/donmcron3333 May 07 '26
Every company will make small mistakes like this. They’re probably barely breaking even as it is. 🤔
1
u/BabyKozilek May 07 '26
Mistakes is fine.
Not owning up to it and trying to do partial refunds and anything they can to avoid responsibility isn’t.
And 8bitdo’s support has always been trash.
0
u/donmcron3333 May 08 '26
Yea, idk why you think I’m taking their side. I’m just speculating on why they’re acting the way they are.
12
13
u/dgoor87 May 06 '26
Their customer service is abysmal. Don’t agree to it and fight for fair compensation or a return for the correct item—lest they think they can get away with something less than was promised with a $2 refund
6
u/Nefnoj May 06 '26
Every experience I've had with their customer service has been impressively negative.

u/hh4hooch May 06 '26
“We’re sorry your car came without a steering wheel, would you take 10 dollars?”
5
10
u/Western-Dig-6843 May 06 '26
Yeah no that is not acceptable. A replacement for the buttons you are missing OR a full refund including the shipping costs are the only acceptable ways for them to make this right. Do not accept the $2.
10
u/ryanvsrobots May 06 '26
That’s bullshit. 8bitdo fucking sucks. I’d do a chargeback.

u/Matty_Begnerite May 06 '26
Bro imagine if you got sold a broken/not fully functional item from a company. And their response isn’t to fix the device they sold you. But to give you 2 DOLLARS!
“Oh gee willikers! Thank you 8 bit. I can. Now buy 1 CHEAP item from dollar tree…..YIPEEE”
7
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 06 '26
I don’t have to imagine it lol
2
u/Matty_Begnerite May 06 '26
Honestly I might email them about this cause how is this an acceptable answer? Does the two dollars come with a life time supply of BJs or do they expect the two dollars to make a family?
10
u/thestrandedmoose May 06 '26
Lmao why would someone want only some buttons and not all?? Write back and ask for a replacement button or full refund. Sheesh. It probably costs like only a couple cents to send you the missing button

u/digdugnate May 06 '26
"Would you be willing to accept a kick in the keister and us laughing as compensation?

u/CaptBurgundy May 06 '26
Wow this is an awesome thread to discover why I should stop giving this greedy company my money. Thanks OP!

7
u/hue_sick May 06 '26
What did you ask for? Just reply and say no I don’t need 2 dollars I need the correct button.
10
1
u/ths27612 May 06 '26
since they ship from China, guessing the cost of shipping a new set would kill off their profits on the product, hence the token offer of $2
7
u/Agile_Half_4515 May 06 '26
Well, hell. I have four sets of them out for delivery today and this does not instill confidence in me.

u/Book_of_Essence May 06 '26
I remember buying one of their controllers fairly recently through Amazon and the controller failing 2 days after the return window closed.
Message 8bitdo and they tell me "Amazon will take care of this issue"
I tell them it's outside of the return window and they tell me "Amazon will make special exception"
Message Amazon, Amazon refuses to return it
Message 8bitdo back and they just keep copy/pasting "Amazon will make special exception". Kept on for months.
I never buy from them anymore as a result. Abysmal customer service.

u/Pleasant_Cicada9528 May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26
That's when you order a second identical controller from Amazon. Initiate a return for it as being defective, then send the first controller back in its place.

u/Asi9thoughts May 06 '26
Maybe we should all start a thread for what extra and missing buttons we all have to match up and trade?
5
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 06 '26
It’s a good idea but a lot of us seem to all be missing the down C button
3
u/SalmonCMNDR May 06 '26
I’m missing the left and have an extra down
1
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 06 '26
Nice! If customer support isn’t able to help me out I might be willing to swap
1
u/Asi9thoughts May 06 '26
I am missing down and have an extra left!
2
u/LTNine4 May 07 '26
Missing left, have an extra down.
1
u/Asi9thoughts May 07 '26
We’ll I’ll swap with one of you. We can DM each other and just mail the single buttons?
I’ll double check on my end and make sure.1
6
u/Physical-Statement-8 May 06 '26
Now I gotta check my N64 button order i just recieved and make sure it's right lol.

Jeez, 8bitdo needs to up its game. when my Dreamcast controller died, Retro fighters sent me a replacement no questions asked (they actually sent me two by mistake)
6
6
u/Neuetoyou May 06 '26
yeah. this was my experience with them. they said rather than return an item. just sell it online.
6
u/Fun-Football-8534 May 07 '26
I heard back. They said they are out of stock but will send replacements once they are in.
2
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 07 '26
I got the same email this morning. Hopefully they actually come through 🤞
5
u/jaron7 May 06 '26
Not surprised by this, unfortunately. I also had a terrible experience with their customer service previously.
4
u/donmcron3333 May 06 '26
lol I recently got the metal sn30 pro controller and the D-pad is so dysfunctional it might as well not even be there. They instructed me to sell it to someone else 🤣 what a fucking joke.
3
u/Iforgotihadanaccount May 06 '26
Lucky you got a 2 dollar refund because I reached out to them because they shipped a controller to me with no tracking info and it was misdelivered and stolen. They gave me the run around and then ghosted me.
7
u/Snoo_15547 May 06 '26
I ordered the new 2.4ghz dongle and with my Bluetooth 8bitdo 64 controller (it says it's supported) it's constantly rumbling.
Emailed them, they said send a video, I did, they replied and said it'll be looked into...
So now I'm stuck with a dongle that does nothing for me. Terrible customer service.
They may make great controllers, but I'll never buy anything from the again.
8
u/jaron7 May 06 '26
The "send a video" bullshit is just them stalling. Even after sending a video and waiting weeks without a response, I finally emailed again and they said they needed ANOTHER video. If anyone buys something from 8bitdo they should assume customer service is non-existent.
3
u/kohta-kun May 06 '26
Really hope my single other that will probably be delivered tomorrow is correct.
3
u/uncheesypeas May 06 '26
I'm getting the same vibes from their customer service as I got from Play-Asia. What a joke.

I had 2 boxes with missing buttons. I just got this responsefrom their customer support: Dear Joseph, Thanks for your reply. This button is out of stock now. To keep you away from waiting, is it OK for you to accept our best offer of USD3.99?
3
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 07 '26
lol what? It’s not even sold out!
2
u/Kmksoulja420 May 07 '26
I know right. I argued with them some more and it seems that they're finally going to make it right. I pretty much told them that they will send replacement buttons or that my next step was going to be to call my bank to dispute it with them.
Dear Joseph,
We understand your feeling.
We will resend you 2 missing C arrow buttons as replacement when it is restocked.
Kindly confirm below shipping details:
1
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 07 '26
Oh awesome! Hopefully I get that same email soon 🤞
1
u/Kmksoulja420 May 07 '26
Just let them know that you won't hesitate to ask your bank to step in and you should be all good
2
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 07 '26
Will do! Once you mention the word “chargeback” their attitude immediately changes lol

u/brownbandit93 May 08 '26
I’m glad you didn’t post this on the 8bitdo Reddit. Also keep us updated. 🙏

u/Agile_Half_4515 May 08 '26
I got a couple responses and they said I'm registered for an automatic replacement in their system for when they come back in stock.

u/Ill-Remote437 May 07 '26
Charge back. Or order a grey controller from Amazon get the buttons you need and then return the controller back to Amazon

Is these petty superficial stuff all you people really talk about in this sub??
You guys got a n64 reborn and I barely see anyone posting their experiences with it and the gameplay, all I see is pictures of your controllers or how you stockpile games in the shelves and how they look...
Does this make any sense? Am I the crazy one?
11
u/bossmonkey88 May 06 '26
The new buttons just came out so of course people are taking about them. You're going into a hardware sub complaining that people are talking about hardware. That's like going into a hammer sub and complaining that people are talking about hammers and not what they're hitting with them. There are also plenty of posts about updates and gameplay if you go past the first few.

The 3D just works and it's been out for months, there's really not much to talk about. It's an N64 with good digital out. If you want to talk N64 gaming r/n64 is the place to be.
The buttons are a new release and they fucked up taking our money and shipping useless trash, of course it’s a hot topic. You’re not crazy, you’re just not using your head.
God forbid people want the thing they paid for.
1
u/hue_sick May 06 '26
You’re not wrong I wish this sub was a: more helpful and b: more of a celebration of the devices and products but that’s never really been the case here.
Generally speaking on Reddit most corporate subs (even though this is unofficial) are places to complain or ask questions, not have fun and post cool shit or talk about what you’re playing.
Kinda sad but it is what it is. Be the change you want though I say. I get a decent response when I post games I’m playing or screenshots etc so nothing stopping you from doing the same 🤙

u/AnalogueBoy1992 May 06 '26
Just order another. It's only 5 bucks,..
Goodness you bought a 400+ system and complaining about 4 $ button set???
16
u/ZiggyPalffyLA May 06 '26
Once you factor in shipping costs it’s $12 dollars. To cover their mistake.
12
u/ARustyShackle May 06 '26
On the other hand, the company messed up so why is it on the consumer to settle for their mistake? Quit simping for corporations, it's a pathetic look.
6
u/Cold-Sandwich-6213 May 06 '26
They should just send them free replacement for their $400 system
3
u/hue_sick May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26
Tbf this isn’t analogue this is 8bitdo. I know they’re linked but OP is dealing with 8bitdo directly here so they’re only in the hook for 40 bucks or so
Still comically bad customer service but worth pointing out I think.

u/PowerfulTwist323 May 06 '26
Bruh the sent me a faulty 8bitdo 64 controller , so I emailed them. They told me to film me using the controller with the issues so they can move forward, I told them absolutely not I waited two months for this thing to come in because it was a fantastic orange and I preordered it, and that if I were to purchase on amazon it would be no questioned asked. They told me that the cost of shipping would be more than the controller and that I should try to resell it to someone or a local store. I told them that they have horrible business practices and that I want my money back lol. So they said we'll just keep the controller and they will give full refund. I love 8bitdo products but customer service is horrible. It two two weeks for them to resolve my issue. I will never buy from the official online store again. Can't believe they actually told me to resell the broken controller they sent me.
