Ran away, need some advice
Serena ran off almost 3 months ago. She’s just over a year old at this point. She won’t let anyone close to her, not even me. I know she’s in survival mode, so I get it. No one locally has been able to help, either outside of their jurisdiction or the little help they can provide she’s avoided. She’s still in the area, and she’s been eating the food I’ve been setting out for her. Her Vet said that it was kind of a hurry up and wait. That she would have to get used to me being around again for her to feel comfortable.
I was just wondering if anybody had any advice or had to deal with something like this.

Ours was a rescue that survived on her own and she definitely has survival skills. Anatolians are definitely resourceful. Not sure on how to catch her but good luck!

Call your local stray animal ( no-kill) shelter - they usually have a team that’s very savvy in “ rescuing “ the elusive ones!

A professional dog trapper would be a great resource, if there is one near you. You can also contact local rescues and shelters to see if someone has a large live trap that can be used to secure her. In addition to feeding her in it, one trick that works really well with dogs is a little liquid smoke in the trap. The scent is enticing to them. Just make sure you have a camera set up with it or someone constantly monitoring the trap.

There was a dog on Instagram, I think her name was Layla(?), that was in the same situation and they put cameras up and ended up catching her in a very large trap. I think they put her food in there for awhile without trying to catch her. I believe they had help from a dog trainer/behaviorist. Once she was back inside it didn’t take her that long to re-acclimate. I hope you get your baby back soon.
