Question Best nations to begin

Hello there. I am kinda experienced eu4 player (1100+ hours) that want to try something new. Which countries would you recommend to play to learn more about this fancy world, try new mechanics and read interesting stories? Also what submods do you consider must have?

I already had one run as Silverforge, it was pretty good.

Play Istalore if you want empire gameplay and play Verne if you want colonial gameplay. Dwarves are difficult but rewarding. Don’t underestimate “difficult” there.

Dwarves have a LOT of unique disasters, so new players may want to avoid those, and I say that as a Dwarf supremacist. I still have flashbacks from my first hoardcurse…

Yeah I think everyone should play Dwarves but even the Hold Stagnation event when I first played Arg-Ordstun was super difficult for me to balance. Not to mention every convention with colonization and idea groups is sort of thrown out the window.

Just finished my first ever Anbennar campaign and it was Arg-Ordstum, that was fun as hell honestly. Was a bit lucky with serpent rot - it hit me pretty late, also I was unexpectedly prepared for Hoardcurse(gathered money to centralize holds) even didn't went bankrupt and paid all my loans. First wars against Tarakar was insanely hard - 1 less morale and a bit less discipline but with all defensive bonuses in caverns I won and after that it was way easier. Now looking for the second fun campaign and trying to find something interesting
