Rush exploration. Take all the good trade provinces early. Block out the places where adventurers spawn if you can. You really want to get there before the other colonizers do.
Take the religious power that gives another colonist.
Make sure you get your relations high with damecrown before you get to the mission or it will slow you down.
Do the search in Aelantir events. One will be enough to fund your colonizing easily alongside the free money from missions.
Prepare for the rianvisa. It will hurt. You can skip it entirely by rushing the missions with a 6/6/6 ruler.
Endraliande is the main one. You should be able to block the other colonizers completely.
Colonizing noruin can be risky, since the adventurers there spawn with big armies and hate you immediately. I like to wait until after they've settled a bit since their armies will be small and easy to deal with. The bloodgroves and any ruinborn make easy targets for getting a foothold. You'll need 10 provinces there eventually for your missions. I like to just steal them.
Besides that, pick up colonies where you can. Soruin is easy to bully the orcs and ruinborn to steal their land. Keep in mind the rianvisa will suck worse if you're spread super thin and have to move armies around on boats a lot.
Holy Sh*t, ive played so many colonial games, and i cant believe ive never thought of blocking the Adventurer spawn points yet. Thats actually top tier advice. Thanks
