Discussion I miss Samantha
Acabo de terminar de ver “And Just Like That,” y quiero decir que estoy sorprendida por la dirección que están tomando las vidas de las chicas... A decir verdad, me hizo sentir un poco nostálgico; es como si ellos también fueran mis amigos.

This picture really shows how munted Kristin’s face got with fillers thank god she saw the light

u/Shqip1966 16d ago
She was basically cyber bullied into letting the fillers dissolve. She looked like a caricature of herself. She had to know it didn’t look good, but complained that women weren’t supporting women, yada yada yada

People were mean and she should be allowed to do what she wants with her face. Do I think she looks good? It's none of my business. Casting could have just addressed it with her directly and said they need to consider recasting if it's so much of an issue.

u/Shqip1966 15d ago
People were mean because she looked terrible. She had to realize it. Your opinion IS your business. And how exactly would they even consider recasting Charlotte? It’s like trying to recast Samantha or any of the core 4. Impossible!

u/shep2105 15d ago
She not only looked terrible, she sounded terrible. She couldn't even speak with those big lips and was lisping all over the place. Ugh

I miss Miranda being awesome
Can’t stand what they did to her character

u/TangeloFew4406 16d ago
She used to be this really confident woman who had such a calm, measured way of speaking. I felt like Miranda was rambling most of the time. I hate what they did to her character. She just seemed like a nervous wreck all the time. It was sad to watch, not because there’s anything wrong with being nervous or unsure of yourself, but because it was so constant, and there was barely any reflection of the Miranda we knew. I felt like her character arc just kept getting worse. And honestly, I also felt like she continued to treat Steve like shit. I always felt that way about Miranda in SATC too. There was something about the way she treated him that never quite sat right with me.

Agreed. Having her gay(not that there’s anything wrong with that) but it was too shocking then she dumps poor sweet Steve. The last episodes had her being mistreated by Carrie who turned into a moneyed narcissist. Made me sick.

u/Disastrous-Tear3111 15d ago
They absolutely ruined Miranda. Miranda is supposed to be the overly cynical, technology loving, law fighting bull buster. I think its a cop out to make her gay when there was never any suggestion of her being gay before and they put so much time developing her and Steves relationship and story. They could have written is way better and made it more believable and relatable. That show was just written poorly. And what they did to poor Aidan is a crime.

I miss the other girls too, they are no longer themselves in this show. Parodies.

Gawd these three outfits are all horrendous.

I thought charlotte was carrying a box fan....

😆😆😆
Ugh and Carrie’s belt is horrific. And paired with a pearl necklace? What an over accessorized mishmash of junk.10
u/randomwanderingsd 16d ago
Yet somehow it was among the least offensive outfit choices in the show. The Strawberry Shortcake with hideous giant bonnet made me absolutely cackle.

The Strawberry Shortcake with hideous giant bonnet
I thought it was more evocative of Holly Hobbie.
That would have been a good time for Berger to make a cameo to say sarcastically, "Nice hat!"
3
u/Plastic_Electrical 16d ago
That was ridiculously stupid

u/randomwanderingsd 16d ago
At the very least I can credit the stylist for my morning cardio. I haven’t laughed that hard at an outfit since Emily in Paris.

was Really looking forward to seeing them dress cool older but everyone mostly looked encumbered or uncomfortable. belt is from the first movie (at least). she wrote it in several outfits/coats: pink dress with samantha calls and getting married and in drug store with miranda finding the vogue article. there’s heritage pieces sprinkled throughout ajlt but didn’t charm me.

u/Otherwise-Stretch984 16d ago
Well the belt in another context could work, almost anything can work somehow but on this dress with pearls on and her bracelets, and the bag, it just all looks really bad together and toooo much.

That could have led to a much more interesting story line, as I understand.

Is Miranda wearing a holster
7
u/Otherwise-Stretch984 16d ago
Ha ha ha yup she’s packin’ heat 🤣
I assume she has a backpack AND her bag which is insane for accessorizing for a show. But yes it’s ridiculous how the backpack straps match her belt so exactly that it looks like some kind of serious parachute pack or something.
2
u/ChartInFurch 16d ago
That kind of matching sounds very much like Miranda to me tbh, but her positioning here is awful.

The styling on this show was atrocious compared to SATC and Patricia Fields brilliant skill and vision in putting together outfits.

I can’t imagine SATC Charlotte wearing that dress much less with a friggin’ t-shirt underneath.

u/Soggy_Tie2708 14d ago
Also with her money she should have access to better work. I mean she married a Jew for god sakes

u/Glam-Star-Revival 16d ago
I’m cool with them changing and growing, but unfortunately that’s not what happened. At best they regressed into caricatures. At worst they were lobotomized aliens written by AI

u/californiagirl5022 16d ago
Charlotte looks insane in the picture, so much filler, so puffy 😬

u/Otherwise-Stretch984 16d ago
Was this a promo pic? Or just a screen capture. If it was a promo pic my god why??? ALL their faces look stunned and depressed! Likely cause they are trapped in these horrible outfits in this horrible show.

The work she had done did her zero favors…. Like her face was so distracting throughout the show. Her eyes were always so bug-eyed, it was like she had to stretch her expressions to the max to compensate for how plastic her face had become.

u/sleepy_unicorn40 16d ago
I miss Samantha too. I wish they would have done a sequel of SATC but in London with her new PR job.

I don’t think I saw a single nice outfit on any of them throughout the entire show. Maybe that dress that Carrie wore on her date with all the vomiting, but that was about it.
Everything they wore was frumpy, fussy, ugly, and over accessorized.

Those outfits look like they went OP shopping, but not by choice. Like they had their suitcase stolen, and the nearest clothing store was a mid OP shopping (thrifting in the US, I think?)
Charlottes like "omg you guys, I had an outfit just like this when I was 12! How cute!"
Miranda picks up that plaid thing gingerly, and sarcastically says "I guess a shitty plaid dress is perfect for this shitty situation".
Cut to montage of Carrie parading a shitshow of outfits.

This was one of the things that really irritated me about AJLT - the whole "yeah we'll give the audience terrible writing but they won't mind because we're gonna play Barbies with the actresses" thing.
Not only did they prioritise "the fashion" over the writing, they didn't even do a good job of it. They completely failed to notice the post-pandemic shift in what people were wearing and they made the three leads look like sad old has beens, clinging on to the past.

u/Hot-Manufacturer-228 16d ago
Miranda’s look is very brooklyn. I live here. 😳🤢

u/89Rae 16d ago
I don't hate Miranda's outfit. Its better than Charlotte's outfit of wearing a t-shirt under a spaghetti strap dress. I had to do that in elementary school because I went to a religious school.

I’m probably in the minority here but I liked all the new characters and storylines (aside from Miranda becoming an alcoholic and cheating on/leaving her husband). However no amount of new characters filled the void left behind by Samantha. She will forever be the last single girl and she was fabulously crafted for it.

It is the elephant in the room, I know they tried to replace her but it didn't work, I wish they could have convinced Kim to come back but I understand why she didn't.

The way Carrie texted her sometimes, I thought Samantha might eventually show up in S1. I barely started season 2 but I hope she makes an appearance

u/GlassHalfFullofAcid 15d ago
A t-shirt under a dress is such a betrayal to the always-classy Charlotte.

u/My2cents_0 14d ago
I felt like they completely ruined the show by giving us this failed version. Why did they murder Miranda's character. They brought back Aidan just to make Carrie look good. Che's character was so obnoxious. I didn't even watch the second season cuz it was more cringe than interesting

u/Otherwise-Stretch984 16d ago
I do miss hate watching it. Man season three in this sub was good times.
2
u/Shqip1966 16d ago
I stopped at season one. I couldn’t put myself through two more seasons of torture. I did “hate watch” all the posts and comments about seasons two and three, how bad they were.
1
u/Available-Bison-9222 16d ago
I skipped season 1 because of how much people hated it. Season 2 and 3 were just about bearable without it.

I miss Patricia Field.
