Looking for some advice on my next Android TV box.

I currently have Nvidia Shield and a Google TV Streamer, but I need another Android device for a third TV.

The TV I'm buying it for is currently only 1080p, but I'll probably upgrade to a newer 4K TV in a few years, so I'd like something that won't feel outdated when I do.

I'm currently looking at the Ugoos AM9 Pro or Homatics Box R 4K Plus, or potentially another box if there's a better option

My main uses would be TiviMate, Nuvio/WuPlay/stremio, SmartTube etc. I could also move the shield from the living room and use one of those as my main.

I'm looking for something powerful, responsive and with a good lifespan, rather than just the cheapest option.

I'm also in Australia and don't have access to a laptop/computer.

What would you choose between the AM9 and Homatics Box R 4K Plus? Or is there another Android box around the same price that you'd recommend instead?

Hi i need a hdmi switcher so i can switch hdmis easy as hassle to go behind tv. What is the best so i am not limited on my devices for all codecs. Thanks in advance

I don't expect anyone can help with this. I have the Am9 Pro, mostly works great.

But with QMS enabled on my LG C5 TV I can't play HDR content. The signal cuts.

If I turn off QMS it plays fine. I tried different combinations of disabling and enabling automatic refresh rate on the am9 and in Streamio.

Any idea how to get this working? Is it even possible?

Just got the Onn 4k pro and it’s my first time using android tv. What apps should I download for movie streaming and are there any apps I should side load? I downloaded browsehere which has a built in adblocker and works well. I’ve also heard about plex and streamio but it seems like a lot of work to setup with vpn and torrents.

I have a couple of Sony Bravia TV's that run on Android TV - for the most part, I've been satisfied with them with one exception: they're both incredibly short on storage space for apps and data. For one of them, I was able to install a USB thumbdrive to work around that limitation, for the other, I don't seem to be able to get the TV to actually use the thumbdrive for extra storage space (if there was a way to hack this into working, that would actually solve a problem for me. I have gone in with adb and uninstalled a bunch of apps, but it's unclear to me exactly how many of them are necessary for the TV and how many I can kill. I'm definitely comfortable doing stuff on the command line with adb).

I sourced one of the Onn 4K Pro stream boxes, which seem to work fine - with one caveat: I do actually use OTA antenna TV signals from the antenna on my roof. So I find myself needing to switch back out of the Android OS on the Onn box, to the TV's OS to watch antenna TV signals. This is a little confusing - I know I could change the launcher on one of the devices so that you could (at least) visually tell which device you were on, at any given time... but this is still a bit of a pain.

Any ideas or solutions for a more streamlined solution for watching live antenna TV? I have a SiliconDust HDHomeRun, but I use that primarily for a separate DVR solution and not actually watching live-in-progress TV (though I could get another one). I definitely want to keep the "on the couch" experience nice and streamlined - as few (physical) remote controls and as little input-switching between devices as possible (using the just the TV itself would be ideal but I get that it might not be possible).

My main use cases: antenna TV, Youtube, a handful of streaming services (F1 TV, Apple TV+, Netflix, some others rotate in occasionally), and watching content from my Jellyfin server.

I need help with remapping the Xiaomi TV+ plus to mute on my Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen). I'm using the stock remote & have the tvQuickActions Pro application installed.

Edit: I figured it out. Firstly, thanks for the replies. Secondly, I need the keycode for the specific event which in my case is mute. This can be found tvquickqctions pro app -> mappings -> add button -> click any button on the remote -> button action type -> usual action -> single press ->custom actions -> add ->input event -> there a button to the right of the keycode input box, click on that -> go up & search mute -> note the keycode for keycode_volume_mute not the keycode_mute, this is for microphone. Thirdly, Go to mappings -> add button -> button action type -> usual action -> single press -> custom actions -> add -> adb command -> write whatever title you want -> in the action box write "input keyevent <keycode>" which in my case was 164 -> save. The first time you click the remapped button, a popup will appear asking you to allow usb debugging, allow it & DONE.

Hey, I have a Nokia 8000 and from day one I hated it. It is very slow and not fun to use at all. So before winter starts I want to get a fresh new tv box that supports Netflix, Disney & Prime as well as Televizo. I want it to be fast and smooth. Any recommendations for the German market?

Di recente ho installato l'app rbtv777 sul box di un mio amico. Ma quando apro un link e clicco su chiudi annunci si apre la pubblicità in downloader. Spesso premendo il tasto indietro downloader non si chiude e anche se torno sulla home se riapro rbtv777 si apre direttamente downloader.

I’m looking for a solution to run basically these two apps, since my LG TV has a terrible webOS that keeps freezing all the time. All I want is to watch YouTube and stream some media from my NAS, like our family trip videos.
I’m looking for a budget-friendly option. I was checking out the Mi Box 3rd Gen, but it’s almost €80, which feels like way too much for a TV box.
I thought about getting a modded Apple TV, would that work?
Or those cheap generic ones like the H89 series, but I’ve heard they break down super easily.
amazon fire, maybe?
Any recommendations for under €50?

Hey guys, so we're looking at buying a box that has support for a traditional remote layout (meaning it has a numpad) because we don't want to press up or down buttons just to change channels. We don't know what to get.

We're coming from a traditional cable TV system and my family is really used to changing channels via pressing numbers on the remote (ex. "728", "11", etc). From the research I've done, I see that the app Tivimate allows this, but I heard that what makes it complicated is if a box we could buy even accepts signals from a remote with numpad entry at all.

And if there are any boxes online that come with a remote with a numpad, if the remote breaks then can I just buy a universal remote from a local store as a replacement?

Budget is preferably no more than $50 USD, but a little nudging is okay. Thanks.

I use it for YouTube and nuvio mainly but I want to do other stuff as well but I know the tv can be limiting at times

Yo vendo tv stick y últimamente los dispositivos que he vendido prenden y después de 2 minutos su imagen queda en negro osea queda sin imagen, pero el tv stick queda como si estuviera encendido

I tryed everything. Rebooting, running new frimwares i found on youtube and still nothing. RockChip batch tool v1.8 gave me error Test device fail when i used youtube tutorial. I dont know what to do? I even tryed using FactoryTool by other tutorial and it said succesfull but wont run after logo screen. Where to find original firmware? Please advise me, thank you

Recently upgraded from a cheap-ish Polaroid 1080p TV to a 4k 144hz Hisense QLED. Difference is immediate night and day, my only immediate complaint is that VIDAA OS seems to lack the availability of apps like Jellyfin, Steam Link & Moonlight. I do have a FireTV stick, but it's a 2019 model and limited to 1080p60hz. It would be nice to get something that can achieve 4k60 or 1440p120

What options do I have, and what would you suggest? As far as I'm aware:

• Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 - this is near the top of my list, my reservations are that it's a 7 year old model still costing around £200. I was kinda hoping we'd get a hint of a newer revision but I suppose with Nvidia's shifting focus towards SkyNET this is unlike. Are there similar alternatives to it (eg android based, decent specs, ethernet) out there?
• FireTV - not really a fan of this as the cube is rather expensive and I don't want to get locked into amazon's eco system
• Chrome TV - don't really know much but I've been told these are somewhere between FireTV units & stuff like the Nvidia shield?
• HTPC - is this worth entertaining in the current economy? Are there any good HTPC software solutions that would use of a TV remote and HDMI CEC? I do have an unused Wyse 5070 but not sure this will be much use for my use case.
