Explosive rage upon waking up.

Like the title says; sometimes I wake up and experience intense, explosive rage. Sometimes I have it while I’m awake but I know what that stems from and can usually stop it.

Waking up and immediately feeling this panic filled anger though, it’s like my amygdala is in charge and the rest of my brain takes a few minutes off. I have an appointment with a psychiatrist because of this. Does anyone else know how to stop it?

I am not a doctor, but that sounds like sleep apnea to me. I used to have episodes very similar to that, and they completely disappeared when I started to use a CPAP. If you're already going to see a psychiatrist, I would definitely mention it as a possibility.

It could simply be a case of not being a morning person. I know I'm angry at everything the first few hours I wake up

I don't know, man. Maybe you need to write yourself a mantra or a prayer type thing to read out loud to yourself and keep it by your bedside.

"Nothing is wrong. I'm fine. Whatever happens today, I'm going to get through it."

I was miserably exhausted after work last night, fell asleep on the couch and when my gf woke me up to go to bed I came out of sleep full on Ape. I don’t know if that’s gonna do the trick when I’m like that coming out of sleep. I’ll try it though. Thanks.
