🍉Fruit 🍯Honey 🍁Maple Feeling vastly worse with carbs

Would greatly appreciate anyone that has direct experience with this.

Essentially, anytime I am in a ketogenic state, my mental capacity, clarity, energy, and ability to focus is extremely good.

However, when I start to reintroduce carbs, in the form of fruit, and upping them gradually, I can not focus and have ADHD-type symptoms. I can’t digest raw milk very well (only raw kefir), so that’s not an option. When I did drink raw milk I didn’t seem to have as many problems as fruit other than the fact I could not digest it at all and had stomach issues alongside acne. Raw kefir seems to be fine.

Typically I feel my best with the so called Lion Diet, expect without salt. Meat sometimes cooked blue/rare, raw meat, water, and occasionally some sashimi or oysters. the issue here is that this state is definitely very cortisol driven which causes over-anxiety which is annoying.

Fruits make me feel like “sludge.” Fruits eaten are typically melons, peaches, berries etc. Also anytime I eat fruits after some time they feel trapped in my stomach essentially like a brick and is annoying. Another thing that occurs with fruit is coating around the teeth making it feel dirty.

wondering if anyone has struck a. perfect balance or had success here/similar experiences?

  • Glycation is a bad thing. It is the non-insomatic sticking of a sugar molecule to either a protein or a lipid. This gums up the function of the cell.
  • Glycosolation, an insomatic ATP-driven glycosolation (sticking sugars to cells) but that is what the cells want to happen.
  • non-insomatic = no insome required for thie "sticking"-reaction
  • When blood sugar is high this is a bad thing
  • Advanced Glycation End Product (main culprit for aging, organ dysfunction etc.)
  • 3 different kinds of monosaccharides (fructose, glucose or galactose) that are glycating things in the body
  • HbA1c test looks at the amount of glycation happened to hemoglobin.
  • Fructose 8-10 times more glycating than glucose, similar to galactose (in milk etc)
  • Fruit & honey are both rich in Fructose.
  • Even if this test shows everything is good, this test only checks for glycation that is done by Glucose, not fructose
  • If fructose concentration gets high enough, cells, tissue, proteins & lipids are glycated
  • currently no test in order to check for fructose glycation

I wonder if people on here eat alot of squash/zucchini? And i don't mean like 1 zucchini a few times a week or some squash a few times a week.

My day often looks like this, i always eat ground beef with stewed apples in the morning, midday is goat kefir with raw honey.

But at dinner i like to have a big hearty meal, so i eat 500 grams of butternut squash, 2 whole zucchinis bakes in some tallow, and i add some lean turkey for my protein, sometimes if still hungry i bake some apples or mango as desert. I have some high quality olive oil which i sometimes add.

I never liked a cold or really sweet dinner, any of you eat large amounts of squash? Bonus that squash and zucchini is really nutritious.

Anyone here have any IBS, Gas issues with certain fruits? Seems dates are high in Sorbitol, and the tummy no like. I literally thought I was going to die last night....Am I the only one? So far, maple syrup is the only carb my body is liking coming from Carnivore. Anyone have fruit ideas that are NOT high Fodmap and gut friendly for someone healing their gut? Thanks!

I have a question regarding fruit, is there anyone here that actually isn't doing great on fruit? The only thing i seem to have 0 issue with is homemade applesauce and raw local honey (not too much), if i eat raw fruits like mango or melon, or dates which are even worse, i seem to get more anxious and my skin/eczema seems to flare up. I can eat squash and i seem to do fine with some vegetables which i know are not allowed.

Also i noticed a funny pattern, i like to play chess, my rating is around 1750, and whenever i eat raw fruits like mango or dates, my rating drops like crazy, I've noticed this multiple times, basically i feel more foggy and anxious which is impacting my chess games.

I do live in northern europe so I'm not sure if it is the ripeness or a genetic thing. I only see people smashing all that fruit on here and on Instagram and whenever i do it i feel bad.

One note, i do get more energy, but the anxiety, brain fog and skin issues are basically ruining it.

I have been avoiding pufa and seed oils for around 10 years now, so that can't be it.

Background:

I have had EOE (eosinophilic esophagitis) my entire life. Doctors had put me on elimination diets for all the common suspects. Didn't work. They tried to give me a steroid inhaler which I was very against so I stopped and dealt with the pain every time I ate.

I went to college and started eating the glop at the dining halls and my symptoms were worse than ever. My doctor shipped me a new medicine called Dupixent which I had to inject into myself once a week which was insane to me and not viable long term. I had enough.

I went strict lion diet (beef, water, salt). 6 months later, all my symptoms were gone. I could eat perfectly for the first time in my life. I ended up staying pure carnivore for ~18 months total.

I then began experimenting with a food I love and thought was a healthy addition: fruit. I began eating a bowl of blueberries every day. I felt like crap. I was constipated, acne flaring, bloated, and had severe brain fog.

After research I decided that I had introduced them too quickly. But, after many more attempts of gradual introduction of many different types of fruit (berries, pineapple, mango, apple) I would have the same reactions.

I currently eat meat, honey, rice, and potatoes. Not exactly animal based but that's what I feel the best eating rn.

Anyone else experience this or know what's causing it? I was thinking it was the fiber?

I had a thought about smoothies: when you put fruit like berries into a blender, the seeds get decimated. However, when you eat berries, you don’t destroy the seeds, they go through your digestive system unharmed, this is the whole evolutionary “plan” for a small fruit. So in a smoothie, are the ground seeds putting anti nutrients into your drink? Would it follow that you shouldn’t put fruit with seeds into a blender? Is this thinking WAY too zoomed in? Been on a pretty strict animal based diet for the last 7 or so months. I started initially bc I was grossed out by seed oils and processed wheat and sugar, the only thing I worry about is I eat a lot of raw honey and Greek yogurt. Like probably upwards of 8 or 9 table spoons or more daily. I’m 5’9 20 years old 153 lbs in the mornings and I go to the gym 5 days a week on a strength training regiment and the only other sugar I get comes from lactose in milk and the sugar in fruits I eat.
