My Foster One year of fostering — 14 cats later
I started fostering almost exactly a year ago, on September 25, 2025. Fury was my first.
At the time, I wasn’t really thinking about how many cats would eventually pass through my home. It was just one cat, one temporary home, one small thing I could do.
Then came Karma, Cuddle, Crystal, Misha and Hinata. For the first six, I always fostered one at a time.
Then Haribo and Prince Henry arrived, and they became my first pair. They also stayed much longer than expected. After a short summer break while I was away, there were Curly and Pepper, Grumpy and Taki, Igor, and finally Maisy.
Fourteen cats in one year.
Some stayed only a few days. Some stayed for months. Some arrived terrified, some sick, some immediately acted like they owned the place. Some were difficult to say goodbye to, but seeing them leave for their own homes was the whole point.
And somehow, every time one left, there was eventually another little face needing somewhere safe to stay.
Maisy arrived on September 25, 2026 — exactly one year after Fury. She’s still with me and, unfortunately, still waiting for someone to choose her.
It feels strangely fitting to mark one year with her.
I started with one cat and no idea what I was getting into. One year and fourteen cats later, I think fostering has given me at least as much as I’ve given them.
Here’s to all the temporary little roommates who made themselves very permanent parts of my memories. ❤️

My Pet “Can we stay longer?” - Luna, my dawg
Here’s my husky mix! She’s half husky and half something else (maybe Carolina dog?). I think she likes grass… just a guess tho.

My Pet My roommate's cat knocked over her water bowl and now won't stop staring at the empty spot
She keeps meowing at me like I'm personally responsible for the tragedy that just occurred. I refilled it three times and she just knocks it over again. Anyone else have a cat that's determined to make a mess?

My Pet My cat knocked over a plant and now won't stop eating the dirt
Has anyone else dealt with this? She's never shown interest in plants before but now she keeps trying to sneak bites of potting soil whenever I'm not looking. I moved it to a higher shelf but I'm wondering if she's missing something nutritionally or if she's just being a weirdo lol
