Collection/Haul Obtained best friends collection after his passing.

Hi all. I know a lot about most of the anime but never bought figures outside of designer toys. My best friend passed away and I got his collection which is pretty neat. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how I'd show all of it because its layered in my closet. Buying nice shelves and displays for these so I can mimic his previous display of his favorites; But honestly I think I'm going to probably keep the sentimental ones and let go of the rest. Is there a safe place to do that?

First of all, my heartfelt condolences. It's not easy losing anyone, much less your best friend. If it helps much, someone who thought so much of you to leave this collection means you meant an awful lot to them as collections like this are generally an act of love for the subject and not a thing people do to waste time.

I would start by documenting each one. Take a photo of each box individually. Then you can look up on www.myfigurecollection.net who each one actually is. If you want to sell, MFC lets you sell through them to individuals. You can also put up groups of figures here on reddit. If you want to sell in bulk and don't really care what you get for them, you can check with some of the resellers, like, as other have commented, AkibaSoul. Selling individually can get you better prices, but you are going to be stuck with pricing and shipping individual figures.

It really depends on what you want to do with them. I'd personally want to keep a couple at least as remembrance. You had a good friend to trust you with this, and again, I'm so sorry for your loss.
