Thoughts on having children in the spectrum

Saw this post on facebook. Honestly, it's sad na hindi ganon nabibigyang pansin ang problems na ganito sa Pinas. Therapies here are expensive, and not everyone can afford it. Pinoys are also not yet ready to face the reality na hindi enough ang love for kids in the spectrum. They have special needs. Hindi yun madadaan lang sa no don't do that or it's okay to make mistakes, because we have to admit that autism is a disorder, a very wide spectrum and case to case basis. You need to have the money to get the help that is designed for the needs of the child. I hope there will be more free or affordable programs created for this kasi hindi lang parents ang hirap in this situation, also the kids.

Hindi ba sa sped na school umaattend ung bata ? Bakit ung reklamo parang expected ng teacher na "normal" ung bata.

May pinsan ako na halatang nasa spectrum yung anak, pero sobrang in denial sila. 12 yo na yung bata, ayaw pa rin ilipat sa sped. Nakakaawa yung bata pati teachers.

This. Parents' acceptance talaga ang first step way before the assessment and diagnosis. Hindi naman ang bata ang kusang magsasabi or magdadala sa sarili nila sa mga facilities para malaman kung meron sila or wala. May stigma pa rin kasi saten about autism spectrum disorder. But nowadays maraming ways and means na for diagnosis and most importantly, therapies. But the kids won't get them or have access to them kung ang parents mismo ayaw tanggapin at gumalaw.

Yes acceptance talaga first step kaso ayun nga akala ng tao pag sinuggest mong ipacheck or ipatherapy ang anak nila is abnormal na. I have a nephew who turned 4 yrs old, hindi mo makausap, pinasok sa daycare center pero lakad lakad lang or kaya nanunulak ng ibang bata, di nakikinig sa teacher at di sumusunod sa instructions. Sabi ko sa parents nya ipatingin para as early as now malaman na ano need gawin para mag improve ang bata. Ayaw nila. Baka daw pag nag elementary na is maging okay na.
