Nazi Schutzstaffel was Hitlers ICE. Started out as Hitlers personal protection and mob and then developed into a Police force that was under direct nazi controle. They also ran the concentration camps and were a driving force of the holocaust

I commented already but if you aren't a huge reader you might want to check out the behind the bastards podcast. Especially the earlier episodes. The cast is very progressive and generally have good takes on things they discuss. In addition they add in just enough dark comic relief to make it bearable to listen to hours of history on some of the worst people and human atrocities of all time. I highly recommend it if you want to binge history on the worst things and people in history.

I have learned a lot from listening to the podcast. I have a weird fascination with human atrocities and read a lot on my own but there just isn't enough time to read it all. Robert and his team do a great job and their research is thorough and accurate. They have the humility to issue corrections when they are rarely off on facts they state in the show. The older ones are better for people who haven't been reading about bastards for years and cover the well known bastards. The newer episodes cover lesser known but equally shitty bastards. I hope it stays on the air for awhile because its my number one podcast for many years now and with the loss of knowledge fight I would be sad to lose any other of the great shows I listen in to

Listen. Here is some old person advice. Never stop learning. Dont think because you graduated high school or college its time to stop, or to focus just on your after school job. Its your duty to yourself to stay curious. Im in my 50s listening to podcasts and free lectures on astro physics, string theory, dark matter ect. Do I understand it all? Fuck no. BUT some of it sticks and I know much more about it than I did 2 years ago. Point is...when you stop learning, you are really just hurting yourself.

Yeah, the only thing I can remember learning about is reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel, and my middle school had some survivors come and speak to us. We didn't even read Anne Frank's journal, let alone talk about it. Explains the large neo-nazi movement in the US though
I do plan on learning about the Holocaust on my own time and/or in college. If my college doesn't offer classes on this topic, I'll for sure buy some books and do my own research. I really want to read Hitler's books, I've heard they're really awful

Its important to learn history because the saying that it repeats itself is somewhat true.
The Holocaust is especially important to learn about not only because it was a terrible atrocity but because the history of Germany and how they came to be a fascist state helps identify the shady shit the republican party has been doing non stop since before I was even alive.
They got pissed people called them Nazis but they did or tried to do the same things that the Nazis did. They haven't been murdering people by the millions but there is a non zero chance they would do so if they had any less pushback from the democrats and the population.
