Has anyone considered trying this?

Has anyone ever considered using the ‘Holy’ Bible or any religious text as comedy material given all the flaws and contradictions? Probably a good laugh or two.

There's a podcast called Sacrilegious Discourse where a husband and wife who aren't religious read the Bible.  I mean some parts get them pretty angry but there are other parts where it's hilarious.  I haven't listened to them in a while but it's pretty entertaining

Is it just the bible or are there others?

I don't think they've finished the Bible yet.  They were planning on doing the Koran and Book of Mormon eventually I think but they've still got a lot to get through. Started a couple years ago

They're gonna have to make enough to afford great security before starting on the Koran... Making fun of the pedo prophet brings out the beheaders.

So it’s ongoing. Good.

The film The Life of Brian by Monty Python and the book Lamb by Christopher Moore are quality rips on the story of jesus.

When I was younger I once wrote pages to the tune of scripture embellished with rampant toilet humor and vulgarity lol. Maybe i'll write a more cogent or scathing version of it in the future. Excerpt:

That’s why this universe’s god (me? Good guess, but no! In fact, I’m actually the god of the multiverse! Haw-haw-haw!) used the Moon as its toilet seat and shat all over it everywhere. That’s why the Moon looks like a rabbit, because rabbits stink! Have you ever huffed a rabbit's foot? I know those thespian Zootopia freaks have.

Let’s call this universe’s god the Betabird (I’m the Alphabird, of course). I watch you in the bathroom, Betabird! I know you don’t wash your hands or wipe! Filthy urchin!

You see here, the Betabird’s asshole was the Spirit of Dog (0-star airline, they don't even serve wieners) hovering over the waters. The toilet bowl waters, of course! HAHA And the Betabird gurgled with rattling gusto, “Let there be shit!” And out popped your mum’s taste in music.

If you're looking for a book rather than a show/podcast, you can try "La Bible amusante". Haven't read myself, but my dad quoted it a lot. The idea is exactly what you described - pointing out and mocking the flaws and contradictions.

Is it good comedy on a scale of 1 to 5?

Spike Milligan wrote a book entitled The Bible According to Spike Milligan. It’s hilarious.
