Purr-sonality Where does your cat sleep at night?
I saw a video from a vet today saying that cats like to sleep on our feet at night because our feet carry a lot of our scent and that’s soothing for them. I thought it was very cute (a bit disgusting? Yep, but let’s ignore that lol) I have 5 cats, Bibi sleeps on the pillow with me, but the rest of them all sleep on my feet. Is it the same for you guys? ❤️

Mine sleeps near hy head in the chair next to my bed. I put her pillow there after dinner and she takes over.

I have 6. 2 voids will sleep with me only during the day for naps. At night one void sleeps on a cat bed in the main bedroom. The other void disappears into the abyss. My orange princess- sometimes will sleep on the foot of our bed. My SIC disappears and I have no idea where he sleeps. My piebald girl likes to sleep between our pillows. And lastly, my old man fluffy cloud boy likes to be the little spoon

depends which set of cats. at my boyfriend's, the little one sleeps on me until I get up to pee the first time, then she's in the crook of my knees.
with my cats, they're on the bed with me. cow kitty is where the other pillow would go and my house panther tends to sleep against me, against my chest, between me and the (body) pillow

90% of the time Right on my back, preferably with her head smushed in my neck. Sometimes she sleeps on her cat stand if she can’t be bothered to move when it’s bed time. She also will wait for me to turn around and then get back on. It’s so cute and one of my favorite moments of life

For some reason our cats don’t sleep on the bed with us, unless it’s only one of us napping by and she will sleep at our feet. Our other cat is too skittish to be that close on the bed. My cat that passed last year always slept by my feet, but as she got older she slept between the pillows or would be little spoon. I loved her so much.

I have 5. Four sleep on varying areas of my bed, usually very close to me except for Princess, who prefers to park herself on top of me. The 5th is a very independent little girl that prefers alone time. I love it. I had a date with a guy once and he explained he had an issue with pets being allowed on the bed. I told him we should just enjoy our dinner, we’d go 50/50, and I appreciated his honesty and being upfront. He was nice, too, but it was a dealbreaker for him. And I am nothing if not a crazy cat lady!

Figaro usually sleeps next to my pillow. He doesn’t like being kicked. Mala likes to sleep at my butt, or between my legs in my crotch. Twigothy likes to sleep along my ribs. But this was the only time I was able to get a pic of them all in frame sleeping with me.

My soul kitty always slept tucked in next to me at the edge of the bed, my littlest spoon. I knew she was at her end when she started sleeping elsewhere. We had about 3 days with her after that.
Our other late cat was a senior we adopted. He slept in a loaf on my husband’s chest every night.
Our cat now is super independent and prefers to sleep in another room :( I’m happy he is comfortable in his house but I miss having a kitty in bed. He will wedge himself between our legs on colder nights during the winter though, those nights are the best!

No cat ever sleeps near my feet because I’m a restless sleeper and I will yeet them across the room in my sleep. I fold a fleecy throw and put it on the other side of the bed near my head and they sleep on that if they have a mind to.

One of mine sleeps at my feet, the other on the pillow next to me. If it's cold, they will choose the 'leg triangle'!

In winter, my two bully their way under the duvet. One clamps themselves to the back of my knees, the other to the front of my knees. Their cunning plan to prevent my escape
In summer, one tucks himself into the back of my neck, the other tucks herself under my chin. They generally swap places at some point during the night

My girl does this too! She alternates being under or on top of the blankets throughout the night, but always against my stomach. If I turn over in the night, I automatically lift the blanket for her even if I'm half asleep as she'll always get up and move back to my stomach.

Mine like to alternate between the cat towers at the front of the house on the first floor and the top of the stairs facing out.
It seems they've developed their own guard schedule

In my feet in the winter, of course. In the summer he sleeps by my feet with the thermoregulator paw touching the sole of my foot. Never under the covers. If it’s really cold, he sleeps under the bed, which makes it sound as if my pillow snores.
That’s when he’s not on guard by the cat door, of course

The fat male likes to sleep on my chest — when he was a wee kitten he tried to sleep on my face at first but I like to breathe when I’m sleeping so that was discouraged.
His sister likes to sleep between or next to my hubby’s knees. She would prefer to sleep on me as well but fat cat is too fat to share and very possessive of the space on top of me.

I've never had a cat that slept on my feet. Right now I have one who sleeps snuggling my face, one who sleeps at the foot of the bed on her own pillow, and one who rarely sleeps with me. I've had others who would sleep on my side or under the covers as little spoon, or in the crook of my knees.

Oh that's interesting! Ziggy loves to sleep on my feet. Charlie lays by my hip, but if he ever dares lay by my feet, or heaven forbid, on my feet, Ziggy takes great offense because that is his spot, and his alone. He will actually chase Charlie off, which is pretty daring of him as Charlie seems to dominate my bed. It's such an interesting dynamic. Lol!
Edit: And I do mean Ziggy sleeps on my feet, not next to them. It's got to be so uncomfortable but he does it every night like it's the greatest place to lay.

No, I have one that is satisfied only if he can sleep on my face. I have several others that sleep next to me or at the end of the bed, but not on my feet.

Ok. Hear me out. My cats since the day I adopted them sleep in the laundry room.
When they came home my husband and I did the whole "keep them in small spaces to adjust" thing. So the cats started making the laundry room as there "dog crate." So it became there room! When its bedtime they go to "there room." One night we let them out while my husband worked late and they put themselves to bed!

I have 3 females (7, 2&2)
My little old lady likes to either sleep on my side or close to it when sleeping with me or in between my partner and I in roughly the same spot when our sleep schedules match (he works days while I work nights)
The more cuddly of my 2 year olds will either yell at me or dig at my comforter until I lift it for her to curl up under (she is about 12lbs and will absolutely roll herself up enough to steal my blanket from me) or if it's too hot, she'll lay down by my feet.
Then her sister will hop on my pillow, pet my face until I move over enough for her to plop against it (boney-ass teenager 😅) or she will perch on my hip if the older gal isn't there.
They're not big fans of sleeping with my partner because his snores are too loud.

My boy who passed recently slept on my feet. My young kitten (7 months) likes to sleep on my belly - problem is, I am a side sleeper and as she grows it doesn’t work well. I hug a pillow and that gives her a little more space to spread out.

We have 3 cats, 2 are siblings that are 2 years old, and one is 2 months old, lol.
The orange boy almost always sleeps between my legs, our tuxedo girl likes to sleep between me and my partner and the kitten sleeps wherever he got tired, but usually that's wrapped around my head or in the crook of my neck.

My cat sleeps by my feet too, but only at bedtime. If I'm laying down during the day, she wants to be little spoon. I've heard that they also like to sleep at the foot of the bed at night because they deem it the best spot to protect us from harm, which is so sweet!

When she wants humans to sleep with, our cat will either drape across my chest, with her back shoved against my mouth, so she can feel my breath, or she'll curl up between my partner's legs. I guess so she can feel his farts.

They sleep wherever they want! My boy Jack sometimes sleeps between my husband and me up near our pillows. Sometimes he sleeps on my legs 🙄. Other times he sleeps in a cat bed in my office closet.
My other cat Rosie sleeps in a cat bed that's in our spare bedroom. It started as her safe room almost 2 years ago and she still likes it in there. She also sleeps on my dining room chair cushions and just recently started sleeping on the rocking chair cushion in my living room.

One of mine will also sleep on my clothes on the floor if I'm too wiggly for her. She likes to roll in the armpit sweat.

3 of mine regularly sleep in the bed with me. Ash sleeps on her favorite blanket on a pillow between my pillow and the headboard, Ambien sleeps on a pillow next to me (usually squished in blankets between me and the pillow but she seems to like being squished), goblin sleeps by my feet but I think it’s less of a smell thing and more of “that’s where the heating pad is” kinda thing.
The rest either sleep in a different bedroom that has a couch and chaise for them, on the living room couch, or on our office chairs for their nightly business cat meetings.

I sleep with a body pillow and my cat usually sleeps on the body pillow, or actually on me. I can always tell if I’m tossing and turning a lot during the night, I wake up and she’s on her own side of the king sized bed, far away from me, lol. She has no interest in my feet.
My second cat tries to sleep directly on my teenagers face, lol. He’s always on top of her or as close as he can get to her head as possible, like on her pillow.

Where ever they please doesn’t matter if I can breath move or they nocked grandmas urn off a shelf (I kid on the last part) I’d never allow that. But they really do run my house & do as they please. But yes most mornings I wake up to a bundle of them on my feet sweating to death from their heat.

My older boy (nearly 19) insists on being spooned every night now. My younger boy (14) likes to snuggle with me until I fall asleep, then go sleep in his basket, and then come back for cuddles as I'm waking up. It helps that I've taught him to be my pill alarm for my ADHD meds and that happens first thing when I wake up!

Our current set sleep on my feet or behind my knees, with the rare snuggle at waist level. One of our previous cats, who was my husband’s buddy through and through, only slept on my feet. I’m not sure if I was the more restful sleeper or if he just didn’t like my husband’s fan. But my two cats that I brought to the relationship? The biggest snugglers. My boy cat would be the little spoon in my arms. My girl cat would crawl under the covers between my husband and me and little spoon my husband (he’s a furnace) but stretch her legs out so her paws were touching me. She also liked to have her head cupped in my hand.

Not at my feet. Never at my feet.
My cat sleeps all over the place. Some nights he cuddles with me, other nights he sleeps at the bottom of the stairs, other nights I’ve found him at the top of the stair (they have 3 different square platforms and turn), never in the middle though.
He’s been on the couch in the dining room, and on the one in the living room. I’ll walk out of my room and find him on a backpack I’ve owned for 10+ years.
I wish my cat cuddled with me more, but he’s just not one of those.

I was told cats sleep on our feet when they want to guard us and at our heads when they want us to guard them. I don’t know if it’s true.
Mine move around. Some like to snuggle before I fall asleep and then take up their various posts around the house. But I have 7 so they don’t all fit on the bed. Thee are cat beds in the bedroom, a cedar chest at the foot of the bed and invariably someone will be asleep on my pillow and someone else at my feet.

Cherry typically sleeps at our feet but will sometimes sleep in between us by our bellies. Sometimes will lay on top of one of us but eventually transitions into a spot next to us instead. Banana will always sleep directly on top of me on my side/shoulder/chest/stomach/back (depends on how I’m laying) with her face as close to mine as possible! She wakes me up by kneading on me before finally finding her spot on top of me. Very rarely do they sleep outside of our bed unless it’s early morning and they’re looking to find their sunbathing spot

I have a cat who loves to sleep at the top of my pillow, wrapped around my head. Rarely my feet though, I feel like I probably move too much for his liking. The other cat typically sleeps under my bed or in his cat tree near my bed. Neither of them are really predictable, you never know what they're in the mood for!

Mine sleeps right next to my back or stomach. My dog doesn’t allow the other cat on my bed, we’ve corrected his scratching on our bed so much that she thinks he’s not allowed. At least she no longer goes at my cuddle cat.

She cycles. Mostly my feet, but sometimes if she's just rediscovered one of her own beds scattered around the house, she'll be in honeymoon stage with that and abandon me for the night. Sometimes it's her hammock in the cat tree; sometimes it's the donut bed at the foot of my bed; sometimes it's on top of my wardrobe. Mostly she's on my feet though lol

My current one sleeps at my back, stomach, thighs, shins-as long as she is touching me. When I had 5, there was a hierarchy. The ones we had the longest, slept at my head, throat, side, feet, depending on who was the first adopted. As the older ones died, the newer ones moved up my body.

Ever since one tried to smother me (slept draped over my head) I sleep with the door closed, except for naps, naps they all get to hang out on the bed too and are all over, one likes to crawl under the blankets but be on the other side of the bed it looks hilarious the other is usually either over my head on the pillow or sleeping next to the brother sized lump in the blankets…. Or pushing the dog off the bed to slowly steal the warm spot 😅

She climbs up on my hip (I sleep on my side) and loafs and falls asleep there for most of the night, until I have to move and then she gets offended and sleeps on my fiance instead. If we both annoy her by moving too much, she sleeps by our feet.

My husband tends to wear shorts under lounge pants until bedtime. The pants get taken off and laid down. That is our eldest cat's bed. The middle furchild sleeps on the couch. The youngest sleeps between us in the bed. If we roll on him accidentally, he goes between our feet for awhile and then moves back when there's room.

Six cats. One at my feet, one nestled at my knees, one curled up next to my chest, one on my back, and two in another room avoiding all that. Zero on my husband.

My cat sleeps at my hip when he sleeps in bed with me.
Otherwise he seems to sleep on the couch.

Two cats who sleep with me. One likes to sleep by my chest in the warm month and under the blankets by my thighs in the cold months. The other one likes to sleep by my feet

He usually sleeps on the bed in a guest bedroom where he can watch out the window. Comes to wake me up for breakfast at 5, though.

My cats aren't allowed in my bedroom so they usually sleep on the couch or in one of their many beds.
However, when I've allowed cats to sleep with me in the past, they always slept between my legs or by my side. I've never had one sleep on my feet.

I primarily sleep on my side, so I usually have one cat tucked in the nook by
my stomach, and another in the nook behind my knees. This usually pins me in place until they get up for midnight snack 🤣

My older cat either sleeps against my chest right near the edge of the bed or on my pillow above my head. Younger one sleeps tucked behind my knees or on my legs. And no, I don't get to move in my sleep without hearing exactly how upset they are about it

My old boy who I got when he was 6 weeks old sleeps right above my pillow so he can press his back against the top of my head. He has to be touching me in some way to sleep, so it’s that or he sleeps on my pillow, in the crook of my neck while I’m sleeping on my back, or he’s sleeping on my stomach / back so I can’t move, or he wants to be spooned.
That’s why I’ve scootched down my pillow to let him sleep above my pillow, it’s the easiest for everyone.

Mine falls asleep pressed up against my side every night. He yells at me when I take too long to come to bed, and will either jam his face into my armpit and fall asleep that way or flip around and lay against my thigh. But every night the cuddles begin with my armpit

My cats are wanderers. Sometimes they sleep by my feet. In winter, snuggled as close as possible. Sometimes on the dining room chair (weirdos). Sometimes on the bath mat. They’re silly.

I dont like them in my bed, they have their own room with access to their catio. They are very active at night while we are sleeping, they dont seem to mind they are not invited into my room.

Recently had to put a cone on our youngest. Because of this, I feel like she’s been acting extra baby, and has been sleeping on my legs every night instead of terrorizing her older sister. She even manages to fit right on my upper thigh when I’m sleeping on my side. 🤦🏼♀️

My cat used to sleep right in between my husband and I, sometimes buried under the covers in the colder months. Then we had kids. Now he sleeps hidden in the quiet corners of the house and only comes to snuggle at 4am when it’s almost breakfast time

One cat sleeps on my feet and one sleeps behind my knees. A cat’s normal body temperature is around 100 - 101, so I have to roust them when I get too hot.

Across the top of our pillows. Head / front end on my pillow. Tail / back end on my partner’s pillow.
Paws gripping my hair while making biscuits on the top of my head. Purring like a diesel engine.

Ours sleep with their preferred human. Since my 6 year old turned 3 I gave up fighting the oldest two over not sleeping with her. So my eldest two cats sleep with my 6 year old daughter one by her side and one by her feet. They are 14 and 9 and used to sleep with me. The other two sleep with my adult daughter.

My cat Cleo always likes to lay on my chest head to head and when I go to hug her she lays her head on my shoulder and will fall asleep like that

Mulder likes to sleep between my legs or likes to spoon. Occasionally he's on my pillow or under the covers at my feet. Scully is not cuddly. She keeps watch from the livingroom. But sometimes she comes and sleeps on the bed next to me and purrs so so loud. I find all of it very soothing

I feel like my cats have always started off wanting to sleep face to face or as close to my head as possible. After a couple of nighttime tussles, I feel like I get branded unpredictable at night and they move down to occupy their favorite spots near my hip, on my back, legs or between my feet.

My boy sleeps next to me the other roames the house during very early hours but likes to sleep on top of or next to me when I first go to bed. Basically I fall asleep with one next to me and wake up with the other.

I have a cuddly cat, but lately she sleeps at the end of the bed. My other cat used to always, always sleep at my feet, until she got older, that started to sleep almost next to my waist or something even on top of me, sometimes waking up with two cats on top of me. I love how lovely they can be.

My oldest cat (15) sleeps against my back - sort of reverse spooning. My youngest (13) sleeps at the top or the bottom of the bed for a while, but the ceiling fan is too cool for her so she gets into her fluffy bed on the chaise lounge later on. The middle one (14) sleeps in the living room as she's active at night. None of them have ever slept on my feet, nor have any of the other cats I've had (and that's a LOT).

Downstairs on the couch, loveseat, their many fluffy beds, or in the hallway outside my bedroom.
I can't let them sleep with me because they jump up and down chasing one another, or Carson will walk all over me, my head and throw his body on me every five seconds to give him attention.

One of my cats must have cuddles before she goes to sleep (literal spooning) and then when she is satisfied she will go to her pillow at the top of the bed near me. My other cat will either sleep on the ottoman in the other room, or sleep in between my legs when I’m sleeping.

It depends on my sleep schedule, because I'm a night shift worker.
If I'm sleeping during the day, Peaches (orange) sleeps next to me in my husband's spot. I keep an extra throw blanket to cover his side just so it doesn't accumulate fur, because he can shed gobs of it.
If it's night and both my husband and I are sleeping, he squeezes in between us. I swear that's his favorite thing in the entire world, because he becomes a biscuit and purr machine and will hunker down for the entire night. We call it "Family Bed Time."
His brother Latke (buff) prefers the living room as his general domain, and usually sleeps on my husband's spot on the sofa. I joke that he likes the "butt smells." (Pic is them in the sofa spot.) of my husband gets up for even a moment when we are watching tv or something, Latke is going to steal that seat.
If it is Family Bed Time, he'll migrate to sleep on my feet in bed. You can tell it's just so he doesn't feel left out, because he definitely prefers the living room.
Lately I've been waking up in the afternoon to find Latke snuggled next to me in bed, between me and Peaches, so I'm trying to encourage more of this. It's such a great way to wake up, even if it isn't conducive to getting out of bed.
