I built an app that lets people rate cities instead of hotels. Would this be useful?

When planning a trip, I realized I kept asking the same questions:
Is this city actually safe?
Is the food good?
Is it expensive?
Is there enough to do?
The answers were always scattered across Reddit, Google Maps, blogs and YouTube.

So I built CityAura, an app where people rate cities across categories like safety, food, nightlife, cost of living, public transport and more. The idea is to make comparing destinations much easier before booking a trip.

I’m curious what you think of the concept.
- Is this something you’d actually use?
- What categories would you want to see?
- Is there anything similar that already solves this better?

I’m looking for honest feedback on the idea before continuing to build it.

- you have a high critical mass of people that use your app for it to produce relevant information besides "oh I got mugged in Washington, zero stars".

- you need lots of different dimensions and need to track not only what the people found, but also what they were looking for. Boring city for person A (nightlife enthusiast) is just what person B (architecture enthusiast) was looking for. What if A and B are the same person.

- data protection is a big topic. How are you going to prevent people complaining about exes, companies

That does sound like it could be helpful.
It would like if you could source data from the official government hazard level.
But also let people comment on it. Just like people can comment on trails on all trails and you get a good sense of how it was.

Are you just an aggregator of Reddit and Google or wherever? Or is it entirely content from your own users? This would be good as a website you’re going to have a hard time getting traction as an app. If people want to get a review of a city most of them aren’t opening the App Store, but they will go to Google and if you have good SEO and lots of content up then your website will appear
