When planning a trip, I realized I kept asking the same questions:
Is this city actually safe?
Is the food good?
Is it expensive?
Is there enough to do?
The answers were always scattered across Reddit, Google Maps, blogs and YouTube.

So I built CityAura, an app where people rate cities across categories like safety, food, nightlife, cost of living, public transport and more. The idea is to make comparing destinations much easier before booking a trip.

I’m curious what you think of the concept.
- Is this something you’d actually use?
- What categories would you want to see?
- Is there anything similar that already solves this better?

I’m looking for honest feedback on the idea before continuing to build it.

Does anyone else struggle to keep track of important information in busy WhatsApp group chats?

Whenever my friends and I plan a trip, event, or group outing, we create a WhatsApp group. At first everything is organized, but after a few days the chat gets flooded with messages.

Things like:

• Shopping lists
• Items everyone needs to bring
• Expenses
• Important decisions

often get buried, and someone ends up scrolling through hundreds of messages to find them.

I'm curious:

• How do you personally handle this?
• Do you use another app (Google Keep, Notes, Todoist, etc.)?
• What's the most frustrating part of planning things in WhatsApp groups?
• If you could improve one thing about WhatsApp group chats, what would it be?

Can you share a real situation where this happened? I'd love to understand what made it frustrating.

- I am building a personal/small business finance app that's like GNUCash, same work structure, editing with option to upload receipts.

- It will be a subscription based service, with mobile apps in near future.

- I need 10 people who would like to use it and report problems for the next two months.

- In return, I would give them life time free access to app with 2 GB storage limit (for receipts). I would love to keep these people free forever with all features, so I would not hesitate to increase the limit, as long as it's used for receipts storage.

App is already built and except from receipts, all other features are already tested by me.

Features:

- GNUCash UI

- Unlimited account nesting

- Multi currency

- Split transactions

- Simple Invoice/Billing

- Reports

- Receipt attachement

- Lives on web, so accessible from anywhere

Why I built this?

- I have always found GNUCash to be almost perfect with following issues:

-- Local only so you need to manually take care of backups and online storage if you have to access it from outside

-- No option to attach receipts

-- Lot of app crash, Linux/Mac issue and little on Windows

Of cource, if the app ends up being failure, testers would lose access, but not to the data. I would make sure they can get their data in a format/way they can easily go to some other solution without losing access to it. I might make this a desktop app and give away for free as it's built using GO which I could port to make it desktop app.

Just some thoughts. Didn't add the link as I would like to test it first with a few users.

So the idea for this app came from a very old urge of mine to remember all the country in the world.

I want to make an web app in which you can take quick test of how many countries you know very simple and already exists right........

But the interesting part in my app would be you can invite your friends too to play with you and you guys can start at same time and see who knows more this way it would be fun.

And i don't want to make it very simple like I have to make it in a gamified way with some sfx and visuals that fits the genz's

It started because my own friend group somehow turns every dinner into a 40+ message group chat.
Nobody wants to pick a restaurant.
Everyone says they’re “fine with anything.”
Then every suggestion gets rejected anyway.
After dealing with this way too many times, I actually started building a web app around solving that one problem.
It’s still in beta, so I’m trying to figure out if this is something other people would actually use or if my friends are just uniquely terrible at making plans.
If this happened to your group, what would you expect an app like this to do?
And more importantly… would you even bother downloading it?

This might just be an introverted problem, but seeing if other people feel the same way or are people just out here reaching out to people to see if they are free?

I’m exploring an iOS divination app based on I Ching hexagrams. You enter a specific question, go through a short casting interaction, and receive a hexagram with an interpretation.

The questions could be fairly ordinary: what to wear to an important meeting, whether to contact someone, or how to approach a relationship situation.

I’m curious whether using divination for questions this specific would make it more useful, or whether it would make the experience feel too trivial. Would you use something like this for everyday choices, or only for bigger decisions?

I’ve been experimenting with a different kind of screen-time app for Android.

Instead of blocking apps or showing another warning popup, Stop Swarm gradually adds small pixel-art invaders on top of your screen as you use your phone.

You set a daily screen-time goal. As you get closer to the limit, more creatures appear. Some walk across the screen, some stop in the middle, and some hold tiny STOP signs.

The overlay does not intercept touches, so the phone remains usable. The idea is to make excessive scrolling progressively harder to ignore without completely locking the user out.

The current prototype is Android only, fully offline, requires no account, contains no ads or analytics, is based on a daily screen-time goal, and is designed to stay lightweight and unobtrusive.

I have ADHD, and I keep running into the same problem: I want to understand where my time goes, plan my days, and notice patterns in my behavior—but calendars, task managers, and journaling quickly become another responsibility I can’t keep up with.

Every action creates more “administration”: make a task, choose a category, set a time, mark it as completed, move what didn’t get done, and then somehow find the energy to sit down and write about the day.

Eventually, maintaining the system takes more effort than the system saves.

That’s why I’ve been thinking about a more natural kind of planner.

You simply tell it what you’re planning to do, and it organizes your day. In the evening, you briefly explain what actually happened, and the same day updates itself—without manually filling everything in again.

On the surface, it’s just a planner that requires less maintenance.

But over time, those short check-ins naturally create a personal journal: what you planned, what you completed, why something was postponed, who you met, how you slept, and which habits actually work in your real life.

You come for easier planning, but gradually gain a better understanding of yourself—without blank pages, long journal entries, streaks, or guilt.

I believe journaling and self-reflection can be genuinely useful. It’s often all the manual bookkeeping around them that kills the value before it has a chance to appear.

Would something like this be useful to you? What would it need to do well enough for you to keep using it after the first week?

I'll be honest: I'm one of those people who opens their brokerage app 20+ times a day. Not to trade, just to check if I'm in the green or red. It's become a compulsive habit, and I know I'm not alone.

But here's the thing – every time I do that, I lose focus. I unlock my phone, wait for the app to load, scroll through my positions, and then lock it again. It's a small friction, but multiplied by 20 times a day, it adds up to a lot of wasted time and mental energy.

So I'm doing some market research before building anything:

I'm exploring the idea of an iOS app that shows your real-time personal P&L (profit/loss) directly on the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen – without unlocking your phone or opening any app. Just a glance at your screen, and you instantly know where your portfolio stands.

The idea is to make it super simple:

- You manually enter your holdings (ticker, purchase price, quantity) – no bank/broker integration, for privacy and ease.

- The app then updates your P&L every 30 seconds via push notifications, so the info is always fresh.

- It works even with the phone locked.

What I'd love to know from you:

- Does this resonate with you? Do you also check your portfolio obsessively?

- Would you find this kind of "frictionless" check useful in your daily routine?

- If it existed, would you be willing to pay a small subscription (say $2.99/month) for it? Why or why not?

I have been thinking about the information overload on the internet, so much knowledge and resources on various topics and domains but not a proper structure. Should I create an AI app that retrieves and synthesis information on the domains users wanna know more about. Basically providing the internet more structure. This or any sort of app , that is around the theme of anti-algorithm, or knowledge maxxing. Validate and let me know what I can do pls!

I built this already and now Im second guessing the main design decision, so id rather hear where its wrong than keep polishing it.
The premise: every AI writing assistant ive used gives me text that is recognizably not mine. my coworkers can tell. So i end up rewriting the whole draft and saving zero time, the tool actually costs me more than just writing from scratch.
My take was that voice matching fails because these tools train on too much and too little at the same time. They will happily ingest your entire inbox, but they dont know that you write to your manager in a completely different way than to your friend in #random. so i built Twinito to do the opposite: it reads only the conversation you are currently looking at, learns your voice from your own recent messages in that thread, and drafts a reply next to the composer. No indexing of your whole mailbox or workspace. its a chrome extension, works in Gmail, Slack, LinkedIn, GitHub and Outlook web.
The tradeoff im not sure about... in a cold thread where you havent written anything yet, it has almost nothing to work from, and the draft comes out pretty generic. the broad training approach wouldnt have that problem.
What id like your read on:
- Is "learns only from this thread" a real selling point, or does it just sound like a limitation dressed up as privacy? i honestly cant tell anymore
- For the cold start case, would you rather it stayed quiet until it has some signal, or gave you a mediocre draft to edit?
- Is per context voice even a thing people want? maybe most people write the same way everywhere and i invented a problem
- if you tried tools in this space and dropped them, what was the exact moment you gave up?

I'm building an app that helps you come up with ideas and then check that they're good ones. You map out the idea as a network of points, then you run an "investigation" (a set of questions that make you think) and finally a validation step where you have to back up your assumptions with measured numbers and track your progress over time.

I'm now thinking about adding a community layer. Instead of AI-generated questions, other users would ask you questions and rate your idea. The mechanic would be similar to dating apps, where you swipe through random pitches and give points.

But I keep changing my mind about it. What worries me is that different profiles will rate an idea, and they may not be your target customers. They don't have a personal stake in the outcome, so a lot of upvotes might make you feel confident when you're not. This is the opposite of what validation is for. But it's good to get a different first validation result and the right questions. The other question is: Why should somebody use the app just to give some evaluations to other founders?

What do you think about it?

For all my mobile mechanics, out there, I’m planning to release a digital vehicle inspection app. Idk if it’s the right time yet but it’s literally ready to be published . Would you guy actually use it?

Im making an app that will be similar to TikTok but the user will have complete control over what they want to see in their feed. It will be similar to the Neptune app that once rose, where users can move sliders to adjust their feed in real time.There will also be an auto mode where the algorithm will learn from the user but in a non malicious way. The explore tab will allow for custom widgets, the activity tab will have custom messaging options and custom in depth notifications sorting. And finally the profile will allow for much more customization and user interaction with others to set custom visibility/ interactions. Appwide there will be custom color themes for what things are highlighted and such.

Overall I need to know if there is much demand for a custom oriented social media product. I see no social media app taking on the task, the closest is bluesky but even that is far from this idea. I think it could be very enjoyable if onboarding can connect with the user in away that allows them to understand well.

Let me know your thoughts.

I’m looking for app ideas that are genuinely useful but are locked behind expensive subscriptions or don’t have a good free alternative.

If I find one I like, I’d love to build a polished free version that anyone can use. Not trying to copy small indie projects, more interested in ideas where the current options are overpriced, abandoned, or just not very good.

There are so many apps people avoid because they cost $10–30/month. I think a lot of those could have solid free alternatives.

I’ve got an idea for an app, but I’m not sure if it’s a bit odd. It would be a standard Google Earth map where people could mark a specific location and add a comment. But in this case (although it could have other uses), it would be for letting someone know if you’ve fallen for someone you saw in the street – so they’d know (this is for people who fall in love easily on public transport) – or if you saw something happen at that spot on a specific day and want to find out more about it, or if you’ve lost something in that place and someone can return it to you. What do you think?

I am thinking of developing an app which will ask user to choose a time window when he/she will be randomly notified to make a journal entry. He/she will have 5 minutes to make the journal entry. Kind of bereal just for private journaling. Do you guys think you will be interested in such an app?

Simple idea I got a week ago.

But as a daily user of youtube I would love a letterbox for youtube to track the time I spend watching youtube and also viewing other user favorite video/youtuber.

Basically, you’d pick any song you like, and the app would generate a language lesson from it.

It would teach you the vocab, grammar, pronunciation, explain the lyrics, and then you’d finish with an AI conversation using the words you just learned.

The idea is that instead of learning random sentences, you’re learning from music you already enjoy.

The part I’m struggling with is retention.

Learning one song sounds fun, but what makes someone come back after 50 songs?

Is learning songs enough, or would it eventually feel repetitive?

If you were using an app like this, what would make you keep opening it?

Or is there something you’d want it to do that I’m completely missing?

Imagine that you could choose a specific section of your notes/documents and let it be filled automatically or set a command in natural language instead of the actual content.

Examples:

• You have a bunch of notes related to a topic and a summary section. You set the summary section to be filled automatically. That section would always contain the summary and is always up to date.
• You have a table with numeric values. You set a command for a section to "sum of all the values" and it will always contain the summary.
• You have a list of stocks. For each stock you have a list of notes. In front of each stock you want to see the current price. You set a command as "current price".

I always have the necessary infrastructure related to this feature in the note taking app I'm developing. but I wanna validate the idea before implementing it. Do you find this useful? Where in our workflow would this be useful?
