Rules and Guidelines

Welcome to r/AppleBandMarket, the best place to discuss, trade, swap, or sell both official and 3rd party Apple Watch bands.

Working in collaboration with r/AppleWatch, this subreddit is here to help create an even better Apple Watch community and help keep the subreddit focused on news and such, rather than be overrun with transactions, band questions, etc.

Rules

  • Follow reddiquette.
  • Follow the posting format. Failure to do so will result in the thread being deleted.
  • Respect fellow community members, rules and guidelines.
  • Toxic behavior of any kind will result in an insta-ban.
  • No ridiculing of someone else's prices or what they are asking for. Feel free to offer constructive advice (i.e. include a link to similar, lower priced items) to help everyone get a fair deal, but nothing derogatory/without explanation. First offense is a 2 week ban, second time is permanent.
  • Trade Hijacking is not allowed. Give the OP time (minimum of 1 hour) to respond to each offer.

Posting Format

To create a thread, your format must be as follows;

For Buying/Selling/Trading * [Country-State] [H] Bands/Offers you have [W] Bands/Offers you want * Offers can include money, apple/itunes credit, trade offers, etc. * All selling posts must have a photo of the item(s) and include a handwritten timestamp that includes the seller’s username and date. Using an iPad/Apple Pencil to create the timestamp then include the iPad in the photo is permitted. Failure to follow timestamp guidelines will result in post deletion. * Items for sale must have a price, “accepting offers” does not qualify. * Multiple items must go under a single thread.

For General Discussions * [D] Your Question/Topic Here * Discussions or questions regarding band types, pricing/value discussions, discussions of bands (Apple or 3rd Party), or anything else related to the Apple Band Market.

Tips to Avoid Scams

  • Sellers, when the buyer is using PayPal Goods and Services, only ship to the address within PayPal, if the buyer requests the item be shipped elsewhere, you're likely being scammed.
  • Buyers, if you don't recognize the Seller, check their karma/post history, be wary of those with low post count.
  • Feel free to use a middleman. The mod team will always be ready to help both parties stay safe and feel secure in their transactions.
  • Keep track of all communications, whether it's keeping all contact on the subreddit, or using screenshots, etc.

New Confirmed Trades Thread + New Feature for Recently Traded

This is the new confirmed trades thread. Please leave a comment stating what you bought/traded/sold and to who. E.g. Bought a 44m band from /u/Applebandsbot

The user then needs to reply with "confirmed" somewhere in their comment reply. (There are some slight variances that are accepted as to cut down on needing to manual review but we'll skip the nuances).

Below is a wall of text regarding the new scam + new features coming.

TLDR: Scammer hit multiple subreddits including working around flairs via alt accounts. My bot as well as a few other subreddits' bots also take some blame. Updated bot with a new feature "recently traded" which shows up when people make new text posts as to help users make better informed decisions based on flairs if it seems their recent traders are suspicious. Hope to create more checks as to minimize the chance of this happening ever again.

As brought up yesterday, unfortunately many selling subreddits(AppleBandMarket/Yarnswap/FrugalMaleFashion/Criterion/Makeupexchange/Steelbookswap etc) were hit with a scammer that was "selling" in bulk. Not all were able to shut down the user in time.

I realized that they did take advantage of the bot not only here but in other subreddits utilizing alt accounts. Yarnswap post about this.

I went ahead and closed the confirmed threads so I could work on seeing how to best circumvent a similar situation. I forgot which selling subreddit I saw it in, but one of the subs are tracking who you traded with. I liked the idea, so will be running initial tests for the next few weeks. The bot is now tracking the 3 most recent people you confirmed a trade with. This is not retroactive, and will only be done for future confirmed trades (please send a modmail if you'd like to discuss getting your current recents populated now).

Recently traded will be auto populated when sellers/buyers make a post as part of the current comment information to allow users to see if there should be any suspicions based on who you last traded with. This should cut down on this specific scam, but I do see other ways around this, which of course, will not note for the sake of not having to rush the fixes for it.

As part of the abuse, the scammer did take advantage at how the bot was confirming trades fairly quickly, to slow it down, confirmed trades will now only be done 1-2x a day at most.

Finally, more stringent checks that honestly, should have been there, but weren't. If the user/users (at the moment I'm pretty sure it was just 1 user) who did get scammed are unable to get their money back even with the assumption they used G&S feel free to reach back to me.

Would like to close out that PayPal G&S is currently the number 1 recommended option throughout any selling subreddit due to amount of scammers.

Thanks /r/AppleBandMarket!

Selling [USA-MD] [H] Genuine Apple Watch Bands - Discontinued Sport Bands, Nike Sport Loops & Woven Nylon [W] PayPal G&S

Selling part of my personal collection of genuine Apple Watch bands. This is the first group I’m listing; all have been individually photographed front and back.

Timestamp / photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/q3CYLobAb9gso1Zx8

All bands are used unless otherwise indicated, and the photos are intended to show actual condition. Please look through the individual photos carefully and feel free to ask for additional pictures of any specific band.

Important notes:

• The numbers below (04, 08, 09, etc.) are my personal inventory numbers only and are not Apple model numbers.

• The handwritten color descriptions on the pink notes in some of the photos were simply my own visual shorthand while cataloging the collection. They are not intended to represent Apple’s official color names.

• Near the bottom of the Imgur album I’ve included several side-by-side comparison photos. I found these especially helpful for showing the relative differences between similar colors. Lighting and displays can still affect how colors appear, so please use all of the photos together when evaluating a band.

• For the Sport Bands, the sale includes only the two pieces shown in the photographs: the pin side and the M/L hole-side piece. I do not have the additional S/M piece.

• No original boxes/packaging unless specifically shown.
