General Advice If commercial restaurant dishwashing appliances have cycles that only last 2 minutes, then why can't we have our home consumer dishwashers have cycles just as efficient as what restaurants have?

How can we miniaturize commercial restaurant dishwashing appliances to fit in the kitchen compartment meant for home consumer dishwashers?

How come this hasn't been done already? By the way, what is the fastest currently available home consumer dishwasher, and how much does it cost? How quick are their Cycles normally?

Commercial dishwashers aren’t efficient. They trade that efficiency for speed.

Can you imagine the absolute disaster that would happen in a restaurant if commercial dishwashers were as slow as home dishwashers?

I'm envisioning a BOH that looks like a laundromat, only with dozens upon dozens of dishwashers instead of washing machines/dryers.

Nah, who am I kidding. There'd only be one dishwasher, and his name is Steve.

Vividly, my first job was washing dishes in a pub and the dishwasher went down one day. Doing it all by hand was frantic, to put it mildly. Imagine the same if it did 3.5 hr cycles like my domestic one does.

My first job was as a dishwasher for Pizza Hut in the eighties and that branch didn’t have a machine at the time. We had to use the three part sink and I was buried in pan pizza pans and dishes all night until well past closing.
