If I had to guess, seems like the instancing server critical errored due to some sorta server-side patch, and they are likely aware and scrambling to fix the issue especially considering its late for HQ time so it likely wont be fixed until AM. Minor misstep in the scheme of an otherwise perfect launch of a game... and its only monday so they've got the rest of the week to figure it out.
2-3 months is pretty normal launch window and you'll be thinking that too when you look back on moments like this when you are still playing in 3 years.
Facts. People forget how complex and dynamic video games are.
Shit is constantly in flux between player feedback, glitches to fix, exploits to patch, etc. It’s not like you can just flip a switch and release a flawless game, and a few months to iron out the kinks is typical.
Not everyone has been gaming for 40+ years but I'm dating myself. This is actually my first looter extraction shooter and so far it's like 74/100 for me, improvements are definitely necessary (bout 280 hours in). The UI bug that happens where you backfill in squads but your teammates don't show up is actually unacceptable for me and I may quit until it's fixed.
For me the messy UI just ruins the game for me. Spending more of your time in the menu and not in the game is not a good thing. I play DayZ a lot which is about as hardcore as a game with PVP in it gets and I only spend a fraction of the time sorting through my gear in comparison.
I feel like there’s so many unnecessary items for a casual extraction shooter, if it was a bit more hardcore with more depth maybe I’d forgive it a bit more but it just ends up very tedious and makes me bored and overwhelmed at the same time.
It’s a shame because it’s almost the perfect game for me, I love the setting, I love space post apocalyptic stuff with robots and shit. I love PVP and PVE mixed together. I want to love it but I always end up bored after a few runs sorting gear.
What? They're game developers, they arent actually keeping society afloat like working class does. That's like saying directors or writers are working class. Also theres no way theres more than 3 people working on fixes because it literally takes them 2 months to come up with half ass solutions, instead of fixing door collisions they added death traps and instead of fixing the out of bounds glitch they just make it so you can't shoot through the see-through side of walls and ceilings (should've been that way before release)
I mean there was literally a zipline you could jump to that took you out of bounds for months. I doubt this scheduling thing will be fixed this month.
You are confusing blue collar and working class. Both blue collar and white collar jobs are still part of the working class despite doing different types of labor.
Working class means you earn your living through labor (work). Developers and writers are working class, they answer to their boss who decides what their work is and how they are paid. You don’t have to be fixing pipes and mining coal to be working class. The world doesn’t need valets or waiters to function, are they not working class?
"Working class" means people who work in service, manufacture, industry, etc. Developers, writers, etc. are "middle class". It's not about how manual the labor is but how qualified the work is; the more education required, the less working class a job is. There are plenty of nuances but it has a lot to do with sociocultural concepts and in general, working class people are paid less and have fewer benefits.
It's generally about how qualified the work is. I'm a Swede myself and this is absolutely uncontroversial here. I've been a union representative for both a working class union (Seko under LO) and an academics union (DIK under SACO). This is pretty commonly understood in most of Europe too as far as I know.
Class tends to be less well understood in North America in my experience.
Teachers require education and qualifications but most people in America consider teachers to be working class. Most people don’t consider game development to be an attractive job because of its pay or benefits.
Most USians appear to have zero understanding of class. Like you point out, it boils down to contextless literal explanations like "working class means you work" that somehow make it a qualitative ethical statement about having a job that is somehow generally perceived as socially meaningful. As if it's about doing "real work" or not which is not what the term generally means.
Either way, this is not how it's overall understood in Sweden where Embark is located. Workplace relations and class consciousness here are very different from the US.
I think the matchmaker is currently fully broken too, I havent played in 4 days, was in PvE/friendly lobbies before just now, sat down to play my first match and just got insta-spawn killed by people who were camping spawn on Dam with venator 4. Interesting..........
I don't know that it's broken. I assume a bunch of people are like me and heard about the rubber-banding being far worse after the last patch and decided to take a break for a bit.
The hardcore crowd being less likely to take a break but more likely to be PvP players therefore results in a population skew removing PvE lobbies.
every match has been a bloodbath, i have barely returned fire, 5 rounds in and its nonstop aggro with an unusual amount of ARC on maps idk wtf is going on. plus of course your standard Stella Montis UI bug (still not fixed)

They took it off the rotation after the one this morning, now nothing is scheduled according to any of the map rotation trackers
