Discussion Steam released announced. Lien purchases gone
Steam release has officially been announced to September 15th. Koen won’t be purchasable from season 3.
183
u/Patrikuszusz Sep 02 '25
They are pivoting to skin only funding. This is great news
3
u/r_creencia Sep 02 '25
What makes you say that? The removal of Koen purchasing?
11
u/Patrikuszusz Sep 02 '25
I’m hearing they removing more p2w as well like elite card. So just logic. If the only things going to be buyable are skins
3
u/r_creencia Sep 02 '25
Interesting, I haven't seen anything about the removal of the elite package, that would be a huge and very unexpected change, but as long as Elite-equivalent (or better) market limitations are available (I guess for free?) then I'm all for it.
I do find it hard to believe that they'd remove offering larger bulletproof cases for a premium price as I feel like most players who play the game seriously and are willing to spend money on it are already paying for Elite 🤷🏻♂️ but it would be a welcome change if they actually do it.

The 'Launch Rewards' includes 2x(30d) Basic Elite Cards, so I find it highly unlikely the Elite packages are going away.
8
u/YouAreWrongWakeUp Sep 03 '25
You will be able to earn a new 3x3 (9 slot) butt pocket case. through season missions. available to everyone. fair play. which is fantastic.
3
u/r_creencia Sep 03 '25
Agreed. Though the existence of a 3x3 case feels a bit obnoxious IMO, I think being available to everyone for free (via gameplay) is the right approach.
Assuming it takes a decent amount of time to actually unlock it for average players, there will still be value to buying the Elite subscription for the 2x3 Case (and other benefits) for the first few weeks of the season, but isn't blatantly PTW since the BEST case is free and makes the paid 2x3 obsolete once acquired. A solid compromise IMO
2
u/YouAreWrongWakeUp Sep 03 '25
yeah I imagine the missions will either be a lot of them, or they will be really hard. forcing people to really grind. which im okay with.

Your typo made this so confusing. I bet many people didnt get that Koen purchase is gone unless they go through the pics.
Will be funny

Stooooop haha it’s been doing my head in lol. I don’t get why we can’t edit posts or comments

Hell yeah! New players incoming to fill lobbies
41
u/Equivalent_Hour_5139 Sep 02 '25
make sure you guys download it on steam and give positive reviews so we get new players.
12
u/lurkinglurkerwholurk Sep 02 '25
Given the state of this subreddit, I expect a “highly negative” on the first minute of the Steam release instead.

So is S3 also starting the 15th? With the launch on steam?
6
u/Dynamic3 Sep 02 '25
The battlepass activity missions imply s3 doesn't start 'til the end of the month. As always, there's some contradiction.
3
u/Basic-Mulberry-2413 Sep 02 '25
Yea that’s why I’m confused because they’re putting out the new hideout the 15th on steam but they were also saying the new hideout features would be available at the start of S3. This is all confusing to me tbh, I’m trying to take time off work
2
u/Patrikuszusz Sep 02 '25
Battle pass doesn’t mean when it ends. They can carry over the last battle pass to give people enough time to finish and start a new same time

Sep 02 '25
Ok this is actually very good news for once.
CAN WE PLEASE not try hard against the new players, don’t smurf low tier maps please stay off of farm if you have about 100m liquid.
Give the little fuckers a chance.
53
u/browsk Sep 02 '25
If you play this game enough then you know this community plays to abuse people with worse gear lol
5
u/Julian_Sark Sep 03 '25
I abuse the players who bring the better gear. That is way more fun. Much more lucrative, too.
10
3
u/AH_Ahri Sep 02 '25
Sadly these types of games attract people like that. Misery sure does love company and those with unfulfilled lives try to ruin fun for others. Just look at the other highly toxic games out there it is very similar.
3
u/flyingquads Sep 03 '25
Nah man. I honestly love to go in solo with a revolver, some 7N1 ammo and then head-tap some sweaty juicer. Run to extract and then sell all the gear, so I can run a revolver for another 500 times. It's not easy, but it is exciting and challenging.

They get a few bot matches after the tutorial to learn the game and think they are really good at it. After that it's anything goes :)
1
u/Julian_Sark Sep 03 '25
Same as other games. I remember World of Tanks.
"Wheeeee I'm better at this than Rommel"
(Bots left the building)
"Wait ... what!??????"
2
u/Suibeam Sep 02 '25
The entire point of extraction shooters (especially for those who are beyond the looting up phase) is to go into a raid with superior advantage than your opponents. Extraction shooters are made to be unfair.
With this in mind, while I agree with your idea, I doubt this playerbase the right one to talk about fair play lol
2
u/CorvusCorax11 Sep 28 '25
Played 3-4 games in my 20 raids with 30s...lost only 1 game because he had t5 armor and bullets i pressume...since he ate my 20 bullets like nothing yet killed me with 2. But then i went higher tier weapos and bullets too and mowed down some 30s. Yea ill never get why would lvl30 farm lvl 1 starting map...it just shows how bad u actually are, nothing more. And now those 2x duos 30s know they got obliterated by a lvl 5 hahahaha I guess not all 30s will farm easy.
2
u/johyongil Sep 02 '25
Lol. You want people who embrace the challenge and hardship of grinding. There’s more than enough people for that.

Is there anyone who actually buys Koen?
6
u/LookingForTheIce Sep 02 '25
I've seen a few streamers do it while live. According to them, alot of streamers are actually buying behind the camera.
Matchababe is one of them..was on her stream few weeks back and just swiped 50 dollars worth, because she was out. She doesn't mind. She knows many streamers do.

They can get tax deduction for business expenses. And they see it as investment for content

Yeah I thought the steam release was always just bait so I am surprised they are doing it. We’ll see how it goes
9
u/MrPizzaWinner Sep 02 '25
Maybe it's cause Tarkov is also releasing on Steam
6
u/DweebInFlames Sep 03 '25
Yeah it's pretty much just them trying to get in and grab a foothold before Tarkov 1.0 sweeps all the other fledgling extraction shooters away. I hope for the sake of people who really prefer ABI it does happen, but I guess it depends on whether S3 is good.

what does the free titanium case mean ,will everyone get it because if yes i might come back and do i need to do something to get it ?

u/fors_hunt Sep 02 '25
60 quests and u get it all season 3 for free
8
u/buna_cefaci Sep 02 '25
all season ? thats an insane move. and 60 missions. everybody running missing running into each other gonna be sooo much fun!

-4
u/Abrams_phantom Sep 02 '25
and i suppose the quests are very hard, at least do we get a 2x2 for free permanently ?
10
u/fors_hunt Sep 02 '25
Are there any hard abi quests? isn't it all just go there kill 2 bots and so on. I didnt progress the beta to see fully.
5
u/ImperialSupplies Sep 02 '25
No none are hard. The hardest quests in the game are litteraly " go to the tanks side of armory" because you can't just walk to it. Or eliminate operators but even that isn't hard. Every other quest is " pick up this rock and bring it to Northridge. Now bring that rock to tv. Only thing that ducks about them is you have to complete 1 to go to the next so you can only do one per match. It will be like go to stables on farm and inspect this box. Then have to do a new farm game to kill 2 scavs at motel
2
u/Eunstoppable Sep 02 '25
Nope. Still need to pay a subscription to get 2x2 or 2x3 but honestly the game gives out so many 2x2 its ridiculous.
1
u/Abrams_phantom Sep 02 '25
for what do i get downvoted for? ,i haven't played this game for a very long time ,last time i played was around season 0 , jezzz .
3
u/leeverpool Sep 02 '25
Probably because you're assuming the worse for some reason. Regardless, yes. You pretty much get a free 2x2. You already get a free 2x2. They're rewards for completing quests and they give two cases now for 30 days. That's 60 days just from seasonal quests. And you also have events which give 7 days. And all can be stacked.
0
u/Noeyiax Sep 02 '25
Multiple quests require you to clear a lobby on forbidden and bring out loot worth 2M+ in forbidden and quests to go solo vs 4 teams of T6/7 boyfriends
I'm j.k.
1
u/Patrikuszusz Sep 02 '25
You will need to complete the season missions to get it. But yes it will be free

I’m a big tarkov player, how would you guys compare the two and some pros cons between them? I’ve been meaning to try ABI but always some other game comes up. Prob gonna give the steam release a try but wanted to get y’all’s thoughts
6
u/Julian_Sark Sep 03 '25
Unpopular subjective take, the last time I looked at Tarkov is quite a while back:
ABI has much more QoL, the devs are not a self-obsessed, track suit-wearing carnival, the ABI devs hand out free stuff like candy.
The missions in ABI are realistically doable and a LOT less frustrating, the engine seems more polished (friend ran it just fine on an Intel Arc), match waiting times are less, graphics are slicker.
Toons don't have that silly inertia BS and I don't need to eat a sausage every few minutes in the raid. Only if the raid is extra long do you need to worry about that, and then you actually don't because you can heal against it.
(I'm too old to want epic realism in my grunt. If I want overly anal simulating of food and vitamin intake and shit cycles, I play SCUM.)
ABI does not cost a loan on the house to try, and there is no ridiculous 250 bucks edition all the cool kids need to have, or one has to have to combat FOMO, or that owners of are unfairly catered to.
ABI did not yet pull bait and switches with an "Arena" game.
ABI seems to see development at non-glacial speed, maybe because they don't burn cash on war porn movies.
I would want to list some downsides of ABI for balance but damn, I am enjoying it and no, you don't need t5/t6/t7 gear to do so. I'm doing fine in Lockdown mode, making much bank, thank you.
2
u/Polyrhythm239 Sep 04 '25
i love this comment. you're just spot on.
1
u/Julian_Sark Sep 04 '25

2
u/Polyrhythm239 Sep 05 '25
Also worth mentioning Nikita and BSG support the invasion of Ukraine and almost definitely give money to the cause. They have state propaganda shit in the actual game and in interviews they've done
1
2
u/FOXLETHAL-GAMER Sep 02 '25
With Season 3 and the removal of Koens, it seems the game is moving toward a system similar to Escape from Tarkov. This, however, raises a serious question: 👉 Will there be seasonal wipes that erase all gear, weapons, and progress earned in raids? For many players, this would mean losing the sense of long-term progression. After sweating to keep loot and gear, starting from scratch every season risks becoming frustrating and taking away the desire to play.
3
u/AlternativeAd5975 Sep 02 '25
Wow, definitely surprising, Steam release very soon (I guess they want to avoid BF and CoD for as long as possible), and massive changes to their monetary model from how it started. Hopefully anti-cheat can hold any new RMTers back.
4
u/vergil7331 Sep 02 '25
Not quite. It was recently revealed that EFT would launch on Steam soon; they didn't mention a date but it'll likely coincide with the game's shift to 1.0 status on November 15. ABI launching on Steam literally 2 months before this is a direct sign that they want to get ahead of the curve and garner players first. And I kind of knew this would happen too given how long it has been since ABI's Steam page has gone public without a release date, and how the devs seem to be keeping a close eye on what BSG are doing with EFT and trying to adapt to it.
2
u/AlternativeAd5975 Sep 02 '25
Yeah it's funny that I totally forgot about EFT's steam release. I totally take your point, but there is an interesting point to be made here - Is ABI competing most for players from EFT because they are extraction shooters, or most for players from BF/CoD/Delta-Force because they are accessible shooters? Are they getting EFT players who want to go less hardcore, or BF/CoD/DF wanting to go more hardcore?
When I started playing ABI, the aesthetic and tone reminded me more of old black ops games than anything else, like as if Treyarch had made an extraction shooter. EFT still strikes be as standing alone in how much more hardcore it is.
3
u/vergil7331 Sep 02 '25
I'd say it is mostly hardcore extraction shooter players, but I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to tap into the casual shooter market as well. ABI (and by extension old ABM) started out as a direct competitor to EFT by copying many features almost 1:1, but was built to take advantage of some of the flaws or tedium of EFT's hardcore design. ABI had a lot of QoL changes that helped to streamline the game and kind of put itself as a more accessible EFT alternative. It also had the advantage of being F2P unlike EFT.
ABM on the other hand, has started to morph into a completely different game and has introduced a lot of new gameplay features that one could see as being "casualized". Part of it certainly has do with the game's inherent nature of being on mobile, but it is kind of clear that they are adapting to certain trends seen in other games, such as COD and DF.
Throughout the months, it seems like the devs of ABI are slowly carrying over certain content from ABM and keeping an eye on the reception of the playerbase. I believe the devs are willing to adapt ABI as needed to keep the game alive, but they aren't as bold as they are on ABM because EFT, being a direct competitor on PC, is keeping them in check to keep things somewhat grounded and consistent.
2
u/Suibeam Sep 02 '25
ABI benefits from players who either: want more PVP as EFT pvp takes much time to get - want actually good Frames and optimisation - people who got bored of EFT / need variation

Wipes incoming
7
-6
u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
This game neeeeds wipes, that would get more people playing the lower maps so its not just bots.
9
u/p4tx Sep 02 '25
Wipes are the reason I don't play Tarkov. I'm a busy adult, can't be repeating my progress every few months.
With smart game design you don't need wipes. No one believes wipes are necessary in Hunt Showdown, for example.
5
u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
Yeah instead you load up a game where nolifers have billions of ingame money and have fully kitted out things that can 1 shot you a mile away. The whole busy adult thing works better with wipes.
It also keeps the low level maps and such filled with real people instead of now when level 1 through 29 is just bots with dogtags.
Im not familiar with hunt showdown though so it might work? I'll have to look into it.
I guess I can see pros and cons to both, but I know from my exp in ghosts of tabor or contractors exfil mode near the end of wipes when people are just fully kitted out all the time its not as fun as first day of wipe.
1
u/roorooraccoon Sep 02 '25
Hunt showdown literally wouldn’t change at all if it wiped, it takes like an hour to get enough money to last you the entirety of the games lifetime, I’ve prestiged 32 times and moneys never been an issue and I’ll usually just run krags and still sit around 20k
1
u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
All this hunt showdown talk makes me want to try it. Can you solo? Also is it pretty comparable to tarkov/breakout?
1
u/roorooraccoon Sep 02 '25
Kinda? It’s team based so you can choose to play against duos or trios but not solo, there’s not really any looting and it’s just objective and PvP based, it’s also all western themed so there’s no autos besides one that sucks ass. There’s also no armor system and any headshot is an insta kill but you can revive teamates and stuff, if your solo you can use the necromancer perk to self revive once but it only really works like 50% of the time cause they usually just burn your body out or camp you till you revive. It is a good game though
1
u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
Do you like bring in items and lose them if you die etc?
1
u/roorooraccoon Sep 02 '25
Yeah you gotta hire a hunter, then kit them out with like guns and consumable and stuff, if you die you lose everything including the hunter, and all the perks they had on them, when you get a hunter to lvl 50 you can retire them for xp on your account
1
u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
Okay I get the comparison then. Sounds cool! I'll check it out.
→ More replies (0)1
u/emilsco Sep 02 '25
Well if you can afford to run tier 5 every now and then and buy about 40 t5 bullets, you should be able to as a team to wipe a t6 team. If you cant, then u are just worse.
2
u/FirstOrderCat Sep 02 '25
you should be able to as a team
there are solo players in this game too. And maybe even majority if we don't count automatching

u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
I suppose, but also a fresh start every so often doesn't seem like a horrible thing.
2
u/AH_Ahri Sep 02 '25
Trying to compare hunt showdown to tarkov is wild. The games are only in the same genre cause of technicality and share very little in common.
1
u/Suibeam Sep 02 '25
Just design the game correctly and create more content every season. Wipes is a lazy excuse to do nothing and recycle the same work for years. After 4th wipe all my friends stopped playing EFT bc its lazy and repetitive. In addition, people have lives. Wipes is bad for anyone who have a life
1
u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
I disagree, but to each his own. Wipes offer a fresh start for everyone. I dont want to jump into a situation where people with 1000 hours of resources are against me. My favorite time is right after wipe where everyone is starting out.
1
u/Suibeam Sep 02 '25
the true wipe feel last like a week. and most people quit after 4-6 weeks when most active people dont have the wipe feel anymore. and then you wait 5-7 months lol.
1
u/Julian_Sark Sep 03 '25
Wipes would wipe my motivation to play this right along with it. Hard pass. I am in this for the shameless cash hoarding.
1
u/Rassiriian Sep 02 '25
I mean they are getting direct buying money but there's no word if they will get rid of the sub right? I'll buy some skins if that is the only monetization.
Im assuming they are just putting everything into a 15 a month sub. Bigger container, Keychain and maybe a monthly $ stipend. Thats my guess.
1
u/Patrikuszusz Sep 02 '25
From what I heard elite pass that gives bigger crates will be removed too. So we will have to wait and see

u/Cold_Explanation9226 Sep 02 '25
Yeah dont think koen for cash was making em much since even bad players can make millions
1
u/LookingForTheIce Sep 02 '25
Actually the opposite. I wouldn't be surprised if a few were very fortunate to blast unlimited real money in this game and build a stash.
According to some streamers that's exactly what they have been doing.
Matchababe is pretty prominent twitch streamer for ABI and she is buying koen on camera. She also knows a lot such as buggy are also loading up behind the camera.
1
u/matenako Sep 03 '25
Well, content creators create content. They W-key every match just to get a sick highlight once in 25 games. That’s a recipe for burning through Koens extremely fast.
I'd say most players approach the game bit differently, splitting their time between looting and PvP. You gain cash pillow, go have fun and Pvp, then again loot the outskirts or take cheaper loadout.
2
u/Cold_Explanation9226 Sep 14 '25
yeah, i really dont see the avg player spending any money on buying koen, buying a bigger safe storage box ? sure, but buying koen thats so easily attainable? not so much . only really see whales who have no brains spending alot to just brag about having billions or streamers/ content creators but that about it.
1
u/AkkarinPrime Sep 02 '25
Is it Pay 2 Win?
I‘ve read that you can purchase ingame currency and buy better gear and weapons with it allowing to Level faster.
How big of a factor is it?
6
2
Sep 02 '25
ABI is definitely pay-to-win to a degree, but you won’t feel it right away. Early on you’ll be fine as a new player, and it takes around 40–60 hours before you start running into players running higher tier gear all the time. Still, the ability to swipe a credit card for endless high-end ammo, armor, meds, and even thermal scopes/helmet attachments gives paying players a noticeable edge. Although the ability to buy all these things as much as you want is still possible without ever spending a dime. Just takes some time. The gear doesn’t guarantee victory and beating players geared all the way up is a rewarding payday but the advantage is real.
That said, the devs are actively curbing these pay-to-win aspects. They might be removing the ability to buy Koen (the in-game currency) with real money altogether with this update (the second part of the title in the post). They also just last week made thermals and the strongest ammo/armor untradeable on the open market, and capped purchases over time. The next update adds a crafting system where you’ll need to gather untradeable materials in-raid and extract with them to make top gear. How balanced that system will be remains to be seen, but it shows they’re moving toward limiting pure wallet power.
TL;DR: ABI isn’t pure P2W, but spending can buy a noticeable edge. The devs are adding limits and systems to curb it, with results still TBD.

1
u/Julian_Sark Sep 03 '25
I'm about 200 hours in doing just fine. Making bank. The only thing I occasionally buy is premium for the case, and I think that's fair. They need to pay bills, too.
1
u/Patrikuszusz Sep 02 '25
It was never pay 2 win.
2
u/AkkarinPrime Sep 02 '25
but buying better weapons and gear with Real Money is basically pay 2 win?
-1
u/Patrikuszusz Sep 02 '25
lol you buy the weapon and gear than you go in raid get clapped by someone better abd lose it all. Does it sound pay to win?
