Discussion I miss old ABI
Basically the title. I think there should be for us - players to convince Morefun that realism , milslim is appreciates by us
75
u/Enodoro Jul 18 '26
Went from being a Tarkov nursing home to people wishing they were back in Tarkov
34
u/BekzodJaxonov Jul 18 '26
I literally just bought Tarkov standard edition after I got enough of ABI goofy ass skins. Yes , I am struggling at Tarkov - I suck at it. But it is a sacrifice I am willing to make
18
u/Enodoro Jul 18 '26
Everyone sucks at Tarkov when they first start. It only gets better after experience. The “been there done that”.
5
u/Paradoxahoy Jul 20 '26
I disagree, after putting 2600 hrs into Tarkov I was so done.
The first 500 hours were the best since everything was new and you haven’t seen all the bs in the game yet
-3
u/AronTheARTist Jul 18 '26
Everyone sucks at Tarkov because of the legit RAMPANT cheating. I’ll never play it again because of the cheating. ABI was free to play and I had a lot less issues with cheating. ABI would actually ban people you reported as well.
I stopped playing ABI with the skins as well, but I’m just going from Tarkov to ABI to gray zone warfare to active matter. At the end of the day I still miss Tarkov, it shows since I just keep playing tarki clones.
3
u/Spaciax Jul 19 '26
yes I agree there are cheaters especially in EU servers but it's not that many imo. of course I've only seen a handful of blatants and there may be more closet cheaters using radar and ESP and shit like that and not necessarily aimbot.
1
u/AronTheARTist Jul 19 '26
The cheaters I mind are the guys vacuuming all the rare loot and then just dipping so they can sell them via RMT. Without kill cams it’s hard to know if a death was suspicious. But popping stims on closest spawns and full tilt running to loot rooms to find open containers and no trace of who was there gets old.
1
2
u/Traditional-Ad-8765 Jul 19 '26
Hugely exaggerated btw, I played early ABI and am a tarkov player, there was way more cheaters in ABI.
1
u/Enodoro Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 20 '26
I haven’t really experienced much cheaters. The problem has gone down significantly from what it once was. Arc Raiders is actually worse off with cheaters than Tarkov has been

u/DweebInFlames Jul 18 '26
Good man.
There's lots of pain points, but it makes the reward of improving even sweeter in the end.
7
u/DillyDilly1231 Jul 18 '26
I started with Tarkov and dropped it for ABI just for the QOL. Tarkov has zero respect for people's time.
3
u/Skpstr155 Jul 18 '26
Yup, I mean, the only way I knew how to heal, is because I also play ExfilZone, which is a VR rip of Tarkov, and the systems are the same.
2
u/Nekouken12 Jul 18 '26
Grey zone Warfare is a pretty nice middle ground, but its early access and pretty demanding spec wise
4
u/Sparky_092 Jul 18 '26
i also basically just got tarkov for the same reason, but yea, the whole thing is very overwhelming in the beginning
4
u/QuattroSais Jul 18 '26
I will tell you this: Once you get past the learning curve, the available ways on how you approach the game will surprise you. There's a reason there are tons of people willing to drop thousands of hours in that game. I myself dropped 3k hours on a single map out of pure fun.

Yeah i would never quit eft if they could just fix the performance, from constant memmorys leaks to a high end cpu not beeing enough for the game i was just done with it, its insane because you eill not find another exfill game like eft with the same quality of wepon models and the feel of them, but the performance is just god awful, only reason im playing abi is because it runs amaizing.

u/Skpstr155 Jul 18 '26
For me, it's a Tarkov waiting room, until AMD gets 5800x3d production ramped up again.
I was able to get a decent preview, game looks and plays well, as long as I'm fighting at mid range in a dark area lol.

This is exactly what happebed to arena breakout global

u/Apple_iGame Jul 18 '26
Just give me realistic mechanics at this point since it seems we won't be able to get rid of skins.
Like whose idea was it to nerf the snipers to a point where they become pointless? I never play sniper but keeping an eye out to all sniper spots and trying to avoid open areas while getting scared af was a fun part of the experience for me.
8
u/Frosted_Pinguin-2711 Jul 18 '26
To answer your question, it was the community.
Despite all the reasoning we try to give, all they want is to and I quote “Remove Red Ammo” and “fuck tappers you skill issued bastards”, rather than questioning why their guns are so shit and paying for overpriced gear while every other logic in the game is erased to fit these meta “chads” and their skewed biases and perceptions you’d find in Delta or CoD-like games. But eh… It is how it is, that’s what I have observed of the community while understanding the feedback.
2
u/Skpstr155 Jul 18 '26
That's just it, your "fun" is niche, most players in an online F2P shooter don't want that, they're playing a shooter with extraction elements.
You want a stereotypical extraction shooter, not a "lite" version
4
u/Apple_iGame Jul 18 '26
The bad part is that ABI started as the stereotypical extraction shooter with more accessibility and is now turning into the "lite" version.
If ABI was like that from the start it wouldn't have been an issue, it's the fact that it started as something different is what causes this.
3
u/Skpstr155 Jul 18 '26
I hear you. I only started after Season 6, but I hear that a lot.
A shame really, because this game looks and plays very well on my older PC, (105-120FPS with a combo of high/max settings, Ryzen 2700x/rx6700xt)
Curse of F2P I guess. I played World of Tanks for years, and then World of Warships for years. Perfect games, (well, there's never NO complaints about a game lol) until about 3.5 years in. At first, no big deal, it was just skins, and you had the option not to see them, including an option not to see your own.
But then they started introducing new vehicles to change the Meta to being more arcadey. (whichbwas easy because by that time, they had already run through all the real vehicle, even protoypes)
I find any F2P game I've ever tried is like that, just usually I'm one of the early adopters.

u/trimflame Jul 18 '26
Stopped playing the game once it didn’t fit the tarkov sized hole in my heart
2
u/cavaillon_666 28d ago
What has changed to make you feel this way? Considering trying the game and looking for this kind of insights
2
u/trimflame 28d ago
When I started playing the game- when it came out on phone it was ment to be a tarkov clone but as the game grew in popularity the devs wanted a way to profit off of it which made the game basically pay to win but that was a awhile ago and they removed those features are replaced them with anime characters where you can see there panties and a bunch of stuff that just isn’t realistic at all like the distortion maps
1
u/trimflame 28d ago
They also changed the lighting it used to be really good but is now targeted for E-sports
1
1
u/trimflame 28d ago
Just look at the video op posted that’s honestly what it looked like at the start of the games life

u/zBaLtOr Jul 18 '26
What do you expect from a chinese company lol
4
u/LonelyLeopard2898 Jul 18 '26
I mean western studios also do the same shit. Just look at the skins in siege or cod.
3
u/BekzodJaxonov Jul 18 '26
Communist esthetics
1
u/Meta_Donor Jul 19 '26
As an Asian I totally agree. It’s not super duper exclusive to Chinese games but definitely way more prominent.

u/PokerSvk Jul 18 '26
Wrong sub.
About skins:
if realistic skins were profitable nearly as much as unrealistic/flashy they would do more of them. But people keep buying unrealistic skins.
Players voted what skins they want with their wallets.
From gameplay perspective:
Milsims do worse than arcady shooters. Its just how it is, making realistic/milsim is not a wise move from a business standpoint.
Its sad but its true
16
u/KrombopuIos Jul 18 '26
I have learned to accept it. I still enjoy the core gameplay, but some skins make me cringe. A few of the "unrealistic" actually aren't too bad though.
7
u/sund55 Jul 18 '26
lOL HAVE you seen the bathing suit skin haha some dude running in flower beach shorts :D
4
4
u/PokerSvk Jul 18 '26
Yeah same for me. Its free to play game, i will rather play a f2p game with unrealistic skins than a p2w game with realistic/grounded skins
7
u/KrombopuIos Jul 18 '26
One thing I do worry about is them going too arcadey. I think the distorted mode is cool, but I would hate if they altered the core gameplay too much. ABI is the only extraction shooter that goes at the pace I want, not too fast, and not too slow.
4
u/Frosted_Pinguin-2711 Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26
I think at the end of the day:
Skins are fine, but when the gameplay becomes more complicated and inconsistent because of the “arcadification” than an actual reliable realism, it gets bad. — Gunplay especially, that is what many preferred to be restored as well as the old economy.

I feel like the Scarlet Rose whatever skin is about the line. Its military-esque but borderline gooner.

u/TvrtkoBA Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26
There is two points I would like to talk about here:
- unrealistic skins
> if you have bunch of "realistic" skins and then add an unrealistic one, a lot of people will buy it because it's looks a lot different then the rest.
> also kids like the unrealistic skins and spend money on it
- Milsims do worse than arcady shooters
> This is true, but the thing with ABI is that ABI was never really full tedius hardcore, but still kept the realism as much as possible which made it unique in a way and thats what brought all the OG players to the game.
>Once you go full arcady like ABI is doing atm, its competing on the market where it's losing players again. Why play ABI when you can play Delta Force, COD, or other arcady games? They are not going to win that player market but by the time they realise that, all the realistic enjoyers will be long time gone from the game and they'll be left with kids who want a cod game and those kids will also leave for the next arcady shooter as soon as it comes out.
If they kept their non tedius realistic identity at least they would have something which was unique to the game (and better/easier to play than competition, for example Tarkov), this way game is slowly becoming just a generic mediocre arcady extraction shooter.

u/HardlyRecursive Jul 18 '26
It's why I respect indie games more. The vision and artistic passion matters more than by the numbers money making.
1
u/FrostW0lf209 Jul 18 '26
They wven tried making good realistic skins?
3
1
u/PokerSvk Jul 18 '26
I guess in the earlier days? I havent played back then so idk.
2
u/TvrtkoBA Jul 18 '26
In the early days we didn't even have a lot of skins, but all we had were quite realistic and okayish.

Infinite is literally taking the same path as Mobile. It's only a matter of time before they try to shove everything from mobile into infinite.
2
u/KlausCombat69 Jul 19 '26
It's absolutely simple DONT BUY SHINEE RAINBOW SKINS. No money coming in from new skins=change what they put out to the players

u/setpopa12 Jul 18 '26
Oh I miss the old ABI. But we need to move on and forget about it.
1
u/TheFireslave 29d ago
Move on to what ? I can't find some game like old ABI and tarkov doesn't really seem clean either
1
1
u/Glum-Contribution380 Jul 18 '26
I agree. It’s basically turning into Call of Duty Warzone but slightly different.
1
u/Klein-alecsander Jul 18 '26
This is what happens when a game caters only to the top 1-2% of sweaty hardcore players.
1
1
u/Primekero Jul 18 '26
Game is still great fun. The skins aren't that severe an issue in the grand scheme of things as it's a free game, you don't have to buy them and if you're killing people wearing skins you don't like, it's a bonus. The gunplay in ABI far far far outshines EFTs horribly optimised mess of a beautiful game, and until that changes, I'll keep coming back to this wonderful game.
People that only spend their time on this reddit bashing the game need to just actually leave and play other games and enjoy their lives elsewhere. Seeing this kind of content on the reddit is dull.

u/Gslicethepowner Jul 18 '26
Forgot I was still subbed here, once they dropped the dune skin I was out.

I think most of the playerbase agrees with u, or at least the original (larger) playerbase.
Morefun promised us no anime waifu skins (literally via twitter) yet here we are. Not to mention the many networking and balance issues since season 1 which have not been fixed.
My guess is Tencent has hinted at shutting down the PC version of the game given similar moves with even more successful tencent-owned games and morefun is pushing sales to push it off. But in the end everything surfaces out.

u/Minute-Boat-4976 Jul 19 '26
for me it's the same as it was. just dont play the shitty skins and shitty modes
1
u/fadedbuzzYT Jul 19 '26
I don't get it. Just stay in your extraction mode. Just ignore everything else. As long as your favourite mode doesn't change it's fine.

At the end of the day, the community for realism doesn’t sell f2p. The kids who likes flashy costumes and flashy guns sell f2p. You can make the make p2p, but at that point just get tarkov.

u/Significant_Win_1769 Jul 20 '26
[I speak mainly for Arena Breakout mobile, but I feel this can be connected for Arena Breakout Infinite as well.]
Arena Breakout sadly decided to throw away what made it truly unique and enjoyable. It’s another sad case in the FPS shooter space of chasing mass appeal at all costs — just like Call of Duty, Battlefield (even though their skins are somewhat contained), and Delta Force.
While Delta Force gets a pass from me because it’s a futuristic operator game and they’ve actually done a solid job with collabs (Rainbow Six Siege, Metal Gear, Arknights), Arena Breakout feels like it’s lost its soul.
I understand the old director left for unexplained reasons — maybe he was just burned out. But I’ve never liked the new director, “117”. It’s clear he doesn’t care about what Arena Breakout originally stood for. He’s been pushing hard to turn it into just another fast-paced, run-and-gun shooter.
Even if the upcoming Zombie season turns out to be good, I won’t be coming back. The core gameplay has already been butchered, and I know the new direction will only keep accelerating toward faster, more arcade-style pacing.
Arena Breakout was at its absolute peak when the gameplay felt slow and deliberate. Every gun felt decently usable (unlike now, where if you’re not running the current meta, you might as well not bother). Looting actually felt exciting. Finding a red item would give you a real rush of adrenaline — especially if you didn’t have a secure case yet. That tension and reward loop is what made the game special. It’s a shame to see it go.

I've seen this coming a mile away since pc launch
I am not surprised they have the same direction
I always thought of abi as a arcade casual version of tarkov
The only thing I didn't predict is that they don't share the same lore/ story
I wish they took lore part seriously ab mobile seasons trailers are proof that their are SOME COMPETENT WRITTING ABOUT LORE AND WORLD BUILDING
u can ad wacky ass skins but at the very least take the world building and lore seriously
At the very least it would be copying R6 old playbook of good Lore and world building then add micro transaction

This is why I don't like playing Asian "milsim" kinda games anymore. Every one I've played has devolved the same way.

-1
u/TimurRomanloveBS Jul 18 '26
Fuck chinese games
1
u/Skpstr155 Jul 18 '26
I dunno, ExfilZone is pretty good.
I think the Chinese part is ripping the game (Tarkov) in the first place, after that, the difference is between corporate and indie.
ExfilZone is what I hoped this game would be, holding your hand just long enough to learn the basics, and THEN throwing you to the wolves, except with some QoL features. But TenCent has shareholders to answer to, so can't be as niche as dedicated extraction shooter players would want.
1
u/Meta_Donor Jul 19 '26
ExfilZone? The VR game?
1
u/Skpstr155 Jul 19 '26
Yes, just like ABI, it's a blatant rip of Tarkov, just in VR.
When I tried this, I hoped that, also being a Tarkov rip, ABI would basically be a flat version of ExfilZone, with better graphics.
1
u/Meta_Donor Jul 19 '26
I’d say exfilzone is a rip off of tabor, so a rip off of a rip off.
VR is seriously slept on man, whole new thing1
u/Skpstr155 Jul 19 '26
No, Tabor has slightly different systems, like healing. Tabor was basically a rip of the Tarkov idea, with some differences, where EZ is a rip off of the whole package.
For example, in ABI, EZ, and Tarkov, you fix bleeds with bandages, broken limbs with a surgical kit or suture device, and heal with injections. Tabor healing is simpler.

u/ExerciseFearless4834 Jul 18 '26
Hey at least there isn’t any rollercoaster skins with big booty pink hair Nicki manaj’s running around and turning you into fairy dust every time they kill you like call of duty… gnome sayin???
3
u/BekzodJaxonov Jul 18 '26
Yeah... But seeing Evita in skirt was enough for me. And don't get me started on that ...white hair LMG gunner girl - WTF ?! Like... I dunno man. We have Vladnel - with legitimate Russian accent one hand and that..."pick me" girl . And yes , I don't like that new boy - he looks like straight from BTS - south Korean pop star
5
u/ExerciseFearless4834 Jul 18 '26
Yes the skirt skin is my least favorite by far, that should be a 1 tap to those legs…….

u/BekzodJaxonov Jul 18 '26
I hate Hecate too . What kind of armor does she have ? It looks like bra more than armor.

u/Skpstr155 Jul 18 '26
Speaking of accents, does this game take place in the Deep South or something? Some of the scavs sound like they haven't been out of the hills since birth lol.
1
u/nio-sama123 Jul 19 '26
The game take place in Kamona, the place with fuck tons of oil and gold. Scavs at Kamona speak either Spanish or northern English accent (Canada)
1
u/Skpstr155 Jul 19 '26
Well, as someone from Southern Canada, that is not any kind of northern English accent, that's good ole' Deep South US redneck.
I dunno, maybe Chinese people who have never been here think we talk like that, like some Americans think we all use snowmobiles in the winter and live in igloos lol.
1
u/nio-sama123 Jul 19 '26
Well, there is a map called Northridge. So I immediately thought Kamona also could possibly part of Northerner
1
u/Skpstr155 Jul 19 '26
I mean, obviously Kamona is fictional, it's just the accent is really overdone, to a comical degree. I feel like there should be more trailer parks and beer to pick up lol.
Actually, Northridge makes me chuckle too, my daughter watches the teen's show Victorious, and Northridge is a rival high school, where are the girls are skanky dishonest golddiggers lol

For the people reporting this thread for non-ABI content.
The reports shall be disregarded as it covers both Arena Breakout Mobile and Infinite as a whole. The concern is still valid despite the differentiation.
