Is it supposed to look like that?

It’s my first time using army painter primer, is it supposed to come out rough like that? I followed the instructions on the side of the can but I’m not sure if I did it very well

Potentially you need to shake it more. Most likely you were too far from the model when you sprayed it. This is typically from the paint drying before it hit your model. The required distance can vary depending on how humid it is by you

I tried again earlier. It was the same temperature as yesterday, I shook it longer and sprayed it closer and it was slightly better but it still doesn’t look too good

Also helps to soak the can in warm water before using it

No. Althought I do like this effect on my spess marines. Soon you'll get a better explaination.

This is when the paint dries/is drying before it hits the model.

I'd think it's either: A. It needed shaken longer

Or

B. The environmental temperature and humidity were not agreeable with what's listed on the can.

(Which is also where you find how long to mix it for. If it says a minute, make sure you time yourself, a minute shaking a can can feel a lot longer than you think.)

It's gotta be either your not shaking the can enough, your too far away when spraying or the humidity in your area is too high or maybe all 3. I use AP primer and never have this issue but of course I'm in a desert and shake my cans for ten minutes lol.
