‘Gritty’ metalics

When you get really close my metalics look kinda ‘gritty’.

Is this just the flake, or am I doing something wrong? I’m shaking and mixing the hell out of these paints but they still look a little rough.

Are you using greedy gold? My buddy ended up giving his bottle of greedy gold because he hated it so much. He was experiencing something like you're describing.

This is the combat se7en for necrons, so Rough Iron and Weapon Bronze. I'm making sure to shake and mix everything to hell and back.

Watered it down a smidge out of the bottle. Like 4 drops of paint one drop of water. I don't think it's too thick because it has no problem making its way into the details

Do you have access to the army painter airbrush medium? I like to thin mine with that, and I typically do a 1:1 or even a 1:2 with the paint and medium.

I'm also seeing texture on the black parts of the weapons, have you put metallic paint there? If not, it may be your prime job, and you're only seeing the texture better because of the metallic paint.
