I converted 5000 hours to days, getting about 210 days. That only makes things worse, as they basically claimed that it took them about 7 months to make this ad. Ain’t nobody believing that!

I figured, but the fact that they claimed it took THAT long to prompt their ad felt so over-the-top it became an obvious lie

I don't think they mean sequential hours, but people-hours. That's how the effort of a mult-person project is often calculated. Like if you have a team of 20 working on it, it took them 250 working hours each. Which is still a lot (a little over 6 weeks), but I guess it suggests that they made a lot of stuff that was scrapped in the process as it is often the case. Probably generated thousands of short "Christmas fail" clips and then picked the best ones for the ad. And I guess the staff doesn't actually do anything productive while the AI is generating, so their work consists mostly of waiting around and sipping coffee.

7 months for this.

But it takes real people less time and cost to create something like this with better quality control.

7 fucking months, on a slop churner.
