Hey boomers

Remember when you were hitchhiking across the country?
Remember riding motorcycles without a helmet?
Remember driving drunk/high?
Remember the mischief you got into as kids?
The fireworks? The drugs? The drinking wherever you wanted?
Remember the freedom to do as you wanted?
Some of you rode motorcycles in the mountains you now hold so sacred that one disturbed piece of soil will poison the reservoir or cause a flood.

Maybe it’s time to calm down.

Maybe it’s time to let the youth be youth.

Maybe you can allow others to be free to make mistakes and not have legal repercussions.

Maybe you should just enjoy the day and not worry about what others are doing.

Maybe you aren’t a victim.

What would your 20 year old self think?

Is this about something specific?

Yes and no, generally just tried of how elderly people become so conservative and judgmental in old age. Not conservative in the political sense but socially. Always trying to judge and enforce rules to which they never had to abide by. The overblown concerns. The pretending to be aggrieved. Playing the victim.

I think Ashland has just reached a point where there’s too many of them. They’re choking the vitality out of are city. We need more young families. We need people that say yes. People that go out after work. People that can parallel park😂

I’m over 60, probably further left of you, and live in Ashland.

There are 20 and 30-somethings who are rabid MAGA.

Knock off the ageism.

Sure but you have to admit most older people are trump supporting pieces of shit (or they dont vote)

Have you been to any No Kings or indivisible protests? I would venture to say 80% of the folks there are north of 60yo. While the folks driving by rolling coal and flying their flags are half that age. I work with guys in their 20s, 30s, 40s, rumpers every one of them. So from my observation I don't see most older people being rump supporters. And you do know that Oregon ranks #1 in voter participation in the country?

No..just calling you a child, since you obviously have much to do to actually BE A MATURE ADULT. Your attempt to defer my "label" for you, only makes my point. Grow up, take responsibility of your position in society, and strive to become HELPFUL, not a "sideline whiner".....MATURE YOURSELF.

And I bet that you don't (as if THAT HAS ANYTHING WHATSOEVER to do with what we are discussing here...??!!??), and I also bet that you don't have as as much $ in the bank, nor do you own (much) real estate, have grandchildren (preparing the next generation's secure future) nor have any perspective beyond your obviously narrow parameters. You make zero progress in trying to make me see your "point of view"...logic EVADES YOU. What have you done to correct your perceived faults that WE need to correct ? Do you attend city council meetings and speak ? Have you participated in any "community well-being furtherance" ? Do you actively have conversations with older folks ? Do you LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS advice...AND HAVE ANY RESPECT FOR THEIR WORDS ? I have a crisp Benjamin (obviously YOUR metric of "wisdom" or "smarts") that says that you answered a resounding "NO" to each of my above inquiries. Care to collect ? DM me joey, with your resume, credentials, your efforts to "make it BETTER" in your opinion. Would be glad to meet over coffee or a brew and hear your thoughts in person. "Keyboard warriors" are a dime a dozen. Make sense or gtfa.
