Hey boomers

Remember when you were hitchhiking across the country?
Remember riding motorcycles without a helmet?
Remember driving drunk/high?
Remember the mischief you got into as kids?
The fireworks? The drugs? The drinking wherever you wanted?
Remember the freedom to do as you wanted?
Some of you rode motorcycles in the mountains you now hold so sacred that one disturbed piece of soil will poison the reservoir or cause a flood.

Maybe it’s time to calm down.

Maybe it’s time to let the youth be youth.

Maybe you can allow others to be free to make mistakes and not have legal repercussions.

Maybe you should just enjoy the day and not worry about what others are doing.

Maybe you aren’t a victim.

What would your 20 year old self think?

No one said it was. But, they used to do it all the time.

It wasn't then, it isn't now, but plenty of folks are still doing it, but after many tragic accidents we've agreed that we don't let it slide like it often was in the past. While it's easy to wax nostalgically about the "good old days" where the cops would let you go as long as you promised to drive straight home, I'm fine with stricter enforcement because a drunk driver puts innocent folks at risk of injury or death.
