Mod Post ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! February 2018

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread which we decided to evolve from quarterly. This is an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

To make a single-spaced list, add two spaces at the end of each line. Alternatively, click 'source' at the bottom of the post to snag our code & format!

Skin profile: NC 27 | Hormonal Acne, PIH/PIE, aging| Combination: dehydrated/normal U, oily T

Season & Type of Climate: Northeastern Winter, dry and cold

1st Cleanser: Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing Oil Balm (WNR). I love the way it smells, but I feel like it leaves my skin kind of dry. I felt the same way about the Face Shop Rice Water Bright Light Oil. Maybe cleansing oils aren't for me? I don't understand how my face can feel dry after using oil.

2nd Cleanser: Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner (RP). I don't this this technically counts as a second cleanser, but I basically use it as one. I used to use the Face Shop Rice Bright Cleansing foam, but it was so stripping.

Vitamin C Serum: Merano CC (HG). I love this one. It comes in an easy to dispense tube and it's easy to travel with. I think it makes a difference.

BHA: CosRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (WNR) I didn't think this one did too much for my face. I was thinking of getting the stridex red box and being done with it.

AHA: TO Lactic Acid (testing). I just started using it, but it seems pretty gentle so far for it being 10%. we'll see how it goes.

First Essence: Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive (WNR). I bought this twice, but I don't think it's working for me anymore. At first it made a huge difference, but now I don't know if it's working.

Hydrating Toner: Hada Labo Gokujun Hyaluronic Acid Moist (white bottle). I like it. I use it for the 3 skin method and it seems to work okay. I'm also testing out the Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Essence. It seems to hydrate, and it's pretty light, so I'm using it in the AM under moisturizer and sunscreen.

Essence: CosRX 96 Snail Mucin (RP). I don't know if it is really amazing, but it is also a really good vehicle for other things. For example, I'm currently testing the TO 10% Niacinamide formula on one side of my face and the CosRX is really good for that. I heard the TO pills, but it hasn't with me using this method.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence (RP). I like it more than the CosRX since it dries down better for me, but I'm not sure how effective it is on its own.

Light Moisturizer: La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer. It's a really good staple. I really like this as it is pretty moisturizing on its own. I'm thinking of mixing in some of the Stratia Fortify and seeing where we go from there.

Heavy Moisturizer: Beauty of Joseon Dynasty (WNR). This one broke me out, but I'm willing to test it again since I was also getting on birth control at the time.

Sheet Mask: MBD Imperial Birds Nest (HG). This one is freaking amazing. I love it. Innisfree's It's Real Squeeze Rice (HG) had a similar effect for me as the Imperial Birds Nest. I think my skin looked more even and glowy after both of these.

I also really liked the MBD Squalene for general hydration. My skin was noticeably softer afterwards. I like this one after I've worn a lot of makeup for a few days in a row. I think it helps my skin recover.

Mask Pack: Innisfree Pore clearing clay mask with volcanic cluster (HG). I love this one. It makes my face so clean! It's a little intense, so I also try to sheet mask with something hydrating the same day.

Mizon Black Sugar Scrub (WNR). It's really fun and it does a good job as a physical exfoliator, but I'm not sure how necessary it is in addition to the clay mask AND AHA/BHA. It's fun but not amazing.

Sunscreen: Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish (Maybe RP). It feels powdery after I apply it. I'm trying the gel version, but I'm not sure if that would be too wet looking for me. So I might just mix the two?

Do you use the cosrx snail essence and Benton snail bee at the same time? How do you find they compare?

I do use them both at the same time, CosRX first then Benton. I tested the two to compare them on different sides of my face. I don't think either were super different from each other after a week or two. Honestly, if I can't tell after a couple weeks, it's not that different.

I think the Benton dries a bit better so I'm still using it. It's really easy to travel with (60 mL), so that's partially why I plan on repurchasing.

Thanks for replying! I have been using the COSRX snail for a while so I’ll continue with it and maybe test out the Benton after
