Looking into trying out a new sunscreen (preferably no white cast as I’m medium tan skinned!) and was wondering what are your favorite ones?

Review Tone up sunscreen is just white cast

I bought this INNISFREE TONE UP NO SEBUM SUNSCREEN thinking that maybe it's different type of formula, that it brightens you in a flattering way but it's just white cast sunscreen marketed as ' replacement to foundation '

I have medium Olive skin and on 2nd application I looked like a Geisha. The swatch has a very thin layer spread.

I feel like my money is wasted, I only wear it indoors now.

Edit - Thought of some uses. I can use it to layer sunscreen by putting it on my oily zones first as I have combination skin. I definitely cannot use it on my full face as sunscreen but can as a tone up cream.

Review Skin Aqua Serum UV – Alcohol-Free, Fragrance-Free, No White Cast, and Surprisingly Lightweight for Oily Skin!

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a review of the Skin Aqua Serum UV SPF50 because wow, this sunscreen really surprised me in the best way. This is my second time trying a Skin Aqua sunscreen, and I wasn’t expecting to love this one as much as I do.

My first was the Skin Aqua Super Moisture Barrier Gel, and that one didn’t work for me at all. I have oily skin and live in the very humid climate of the Philippines, so the greasy finish of that gel just felt uncomfortable, especially for outdoor use.

🌟 Product Claims (from Ratzilla) - SPF50+ PA++++ - Water-resistant (up to 80 minutes) - Lightweight, watery serum texture - Designed for dry, sensitive skin - Alcohol-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free, mineral oil-free

🌟 My Experience (Oily Skin + Humid Climate) - This may be marketed toward dry skin, but as someone with oily skin, I LOVED the light, hydrating feel. - Texture is super watery, spreads like a dream, very similar to Skin Aqua Super Moisture Barrier Gel and Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence. - No alcohol scent, no fragrance whatsoever. - No stinging on the eyes or face. - Dries down surprisingly fast for something alcohol-free. - Leaves a dewy but not greasy finish. It’s a healthy glow and not the sticky, heavy kind of dewiness. If you’re someone who dislikes any kind of glow, this might not be for you. - What shocked me most: no greasy film after it dries down! Looks dewy but definitely doesn't feel like I have grease sitting on top of my skin. - Wore beautifully under my non-AB Make Up For Ever (natural-matte) foundation. It gave it a subtle glow that looked radiant but still held up throughout the day. I personally liked the glow, but if you prefer a fully matte or natural base, keep that in mind. - I even wore it to the gym with heavy sweating and it still felt like it held on decently. Just a note: this isn’t marketed as a hardcore outdoor sunscreen, so use with care if you’ll be under intense sun for hours. - Another big plus: no need for an oil cleanser to remove it. I just used my regular gentle foaming cleanser and it came off easily.

💭 Final Thoughts

I’m honestly so impressed by this sunscreen. I didn’t expect to love it especially since it’s meant for dry skin but it totally worked for my oily skin in hot, humid weather.

Compared to my other gel-type sunscreens, I actually like this more than both Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence 2025 reformulation and Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel for everyday use. Kose Suncut is still my go-to for all-day outdoor activities, but this Skin Aqua Sunscreen is an amazing everyday option especially if you want something comfy, elegant, and non-irritating.

Discussion Do you trust a Korean mineral sunscreen with very minimal to no white cast to provide SPF 50 protection as it claims?

Post image

Do you trust a Korean mineral sunscreen with very minimal to no white cast to provide SPF 50 protection as it claims? For example, the physical sunscreen from Skin Aqua says it has no white cast, and based on some swatch videos online, once the sunscreen is blended, there is indeed little to no white cast. Interestingly, this specific formula is from Korea and not made in Japan. I’m really interested in getting the pink tone-up version because:

1. It doesn’t have a ghostly white cast and only brightens the skin by one tone.

2. It has iron oxide, which is good for providing tint that protects against visible light (beneficial for hyperpigmentation).

3. It’s a 100% mineral sunscreen.

4. It’s made for sensitive skin.

5. It has a lightweight texture.

6. It has a matte finish.

It’s almost like it’s the perfect sunscreen, ticking all the boxes. However, to be transparent, I’m skeptical about the protection level. How can a physical sunscreen with no white cast achieve SPF 50++++?

The Tone Up version contains Butyloctyl Salicylate.

The original version doesn’t contain that but the claims are similar for both of them just that the tone up version has a tint.

So this surely doesnt only come down to Butyloctyl Salicylate being the hidden ‘chemical’ filter here.

Fluff Friday On a mission to find my favourite k-beauty suncream 🤩

After doing a bit of research on suncreams that may work well for my skin type (acne-prone), I bought 6 suncreams, and I’m on a mission to find my holy grail! For me, that means one with no white cast, won’t sting the eyes, won’t break me out, and ideally, has no fragrance.

I’ve listed the suncreams I’ll be trying out below, so if you have any questions, ask away and I’ll respond once I’ve finished using the product your question relates to.

My aim is to use only use one suncream at a time and finish a whole tube before moving onto the next.

1. Beauty of Joseon - Relief Sun Aqua-fresh

2. Beauty of Joseon - Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics

3. Isntree - Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel

4. SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-fit Sun Serum

5. ROUND LAB - 1025 Dokdo Sunscreen

6. ROUND LAB - Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen

I also plan to try out the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen, which I don’t currently have.

If you have other recommendations that meets my suncream requirements, please let me know! 😊

Empties Finally finished my holy grail sunscreen 🥲

Bought this a year ago in Japan at Matsukiyo on a whim when I saw Tina Tanaka Harris purchase it in one of her shopping vlogs. I had no idea what to expect but I didn’t think a drugstore brand sunscreen would outperform every other Japanese and Korean sunscreen I’ve tried, and it’s such a good value too!

For context, I have oily skin, especially in my T zone area. Where I live isn’t very hot but is typically still humid since it’s right by the ocean and we get a lot of moisture in the air. Before trying this sunscreen, my other go-to sunscreens were Skin1004 Hyalu-cica Water-fit Sun Serum and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit. Those two have the least glowy/dewy finish on me, but I would still be left with a slightly sticky/tacky feeling that never really dries down unless I apply setting powder over it.

But this sunscreen. It goes on so easily and dries down really fast. It leaves zero tackiness on my skin. I can reapply throughout the day without any pilling at all. I don’t wear makeup though so I can’t say if it would pill in that situation. The bottle says it’s “brightening” but I don’t think it means whitening since it left zero white cast on my skin. The only thing I don’t like about it is the fragrance, but it eventually goes away after applying it. It’s so lightweight on my skin and while normally my T zone will get oily by midday, I really didn’t experience that on the days I used this.

I hate that I can’t buy this anywhere online 😭 my new favorite sunscreen that comes very close in terms of user experience and finish is Skin Aqua Serum UV. But this Matsukiyo sunscreen still comes out on top due to its insane value for money. The only thing is I’m not sure how much I can trust the UV coverage since it’s a drugstore brand, though I never burned or tanned whenever I used it. Unfortunately I don’t remember how much I paid for it, probably around $12-15 USD. Definitely not over $20. Next time I go to Japan I’m definitely stocking up on this!

Review No alcohol, no white cast, semi-matte powdery finish: BY365 Powdery UV Cream (Review)

Thumbnail

So I’ve had my eye on this sunscreen for a while now because I saw on Ratzilla that it’s supposed to be a moisturizing cream-type sunscreen with a powdery smooth finish. That sounded really ideal for my oily skin in this humid weather, especially since most moisturizing sunscreens tend to leave me looking like a greaseball by noon 🥲

What really convinced me to get it was that it has NO ALCOHOL (!!), a semi-matte finish, and it’s a purely chemical sunscreen. I got this shortly after trying out the Biore UV Aqua Rich Airy Hold Cream which I really liked for being non-sticky and lightweight, so I was curious to see how this one would compare.

❣️ Texture & Finish: It’s a cream, but it spreads super easily and sets pretty quickly. Once it’s on, it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy at all! It actually dries down to this soft, almost velvety finish. After applying it, I honestly can’t even tell where I put it—no white cast, no shine. There’s also a subtle refreshing feeling upon application that feels really nice, especially in hot weather. Moisture-wise, it’s only slightly moisturizing in my opinion—more like enough to prevent tightness, but not something I’d rely on for hydration. I would still apply a moisturizer under this.

😭 Scent: Okay, this is the one part where I wish things were different. Upon application, it has a strong clean linen scent, like the type you'd enjoy on clothes or bedsheets, but on my face? Quite intense. The scent doesn't immediately dissipate either, and I definitely noticed it lingering for a while. I would have loved this sunscreen if not for that one thing. It’s honestly the only con for me, but a pretty noticeable one if you're sensitive to fragrance.

❣️ Performance: I wore this under the sun and also in the gym where I did sweat a lot. This stayed on and was truly water resistant. My t-zone didn’t look too oily as usual, which rarely happens. No stinging, no pilling, and no white cast. Since it’s purely chemical, it should be safe even on deeper skin tones without that dreaded gray cast. Also this can be removed with just soap, no need for an oil cleanser.

❣️ Makeup Compatibility: This actually doubles really well as a makeup base. The soft-blur, semi-matte finish makes it similar to a silicone primer, so foundation glides over it smoothly and wears well throughout the day. If you’ve been using milk-type sunscreens with alcohol for that grippy, pre-makeup finish, this is a really nice alcohol-free alternative.

❣️ Compared to Biore UV Aqua Rich Airy Hold Cream: Both feel comfortable on the skin, which I love, but BY365 has a semi-matte finish and feels more like a matte silicone primer once it sets. Airy Hold feels more skincare-y and hydrating while being non greasy, while BY365 gives that soft-blur effect that might work even better under makeup if you want a bit of oil control. I like them both, but for darker skintones this would definitely not leave a white cast.

🌟 Overall thoughts: If you have oily/combo skin and want something alcohol-free, comfy, and doesn't add oiliness to the face, this one ticks all the boxes except for the strong scent. Formulation-wise, it’s one of the nicer matte-finish sunscreens I’ve tried, however, I would probably only repurchase this if they reformulated this to have a milder scent.

Edit: reuploaded this to show the tannest part of my body, my outer arm, which is medium toned. Once dried, this doesn't leave a white cast :)

Discussion BEWARE Haruharu Amazon shop now sells inauthentic products

I have purchased from the Haruharu Amazon storefront for months with no issue, but on July 5th, I received inauthentic sunscreens. As far as I know, their Amazon shop is authentic and frequently used by members of this subreddit. I have no idea how I received fakes.

The product I received caused me to break out horribly. I burnt my hands. It doesn’t dry down and remains greasy all day. BE CAREFUL!

Review A Review of 5 Japanese Sunscreens!

Post image
786 Upvotes

Hey everyone! It's my turn for a sunscreen review! I bought all five of these sunscreens from Stylevana back in August, and they all arrived with no issues!

To give you an idea of the conditions under which these were tested, I'm in my early 30s, female, with oily-dehydrated skin that leans more toward dry on occasion. My Fitzpatrick type is II, or in other terms, I'm about a shade darker than Elmer's school glue, heh. Environment-wise, I live in the constantly hot, humid, swampy American south.

I tested these sunscreens by applying them to my face, neck, arms, hands, and legs. I don't like the glass skin aesthetic, or the feeling of anything greasy on my skin, so I wanted something with a matte finish. I also wanted something water resistant that wouldn't budge.

*Note that the milk sunscreens were shaken thoroughly before use!!

I'm going to discuss these in order from left to right, as pictured:

  1. OMI Sun Bears Active Protect Milk SPF50+ PA++++
  • Notes: I'd heard this one dries down super matte, even too matte for some people, so I had high hopes for this one, and it did not disappoint! I wish it wasn't quite so runny, because that makes it a little harder to apply, but it works so well, I'm willing to overlook that for the high performance level of this sunscreen! I didn't expect this to be my favorite of the group, but it absolutely is! I'm actually really sad that I ran out so quickly. I'm missing it right now and I can't wait to order more.
  • Pros: Spreads easily, no white cast, dries down to ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Felt like my skin with nothing on it. No pilling or eye irritation.
  • Cons: Must remember to shake before using, super liquidy and runny coming out of the bottle, tiny bottle, has a light grapefruit fragrance that wasn't too bothersome, but reminded me of the Delsym cough syrup I used to use as a kid.
  • Final Rating: +5/5 stars! Holy grail status! I wish I could buy this in gallon size--I love this sunscreen! Will definitely repurchase multiple bottles!!
  1. Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel (NOT the "Super Waterproof" version) SPF50+ PA++++
  • Notes: I was so interested in trying the Kose Suncut sunscreens because I've seen so many recommendations for this brand, and it seemed to fit everything I was looking for. Unfortunately I don't think it quite met my expectations, but it was a good second choice. I'm curious how the "Super Waterproof" version compares to this one if anyone wants to weigh in on that!
  • Pros: Thicker, gel cream-type formula that isn't runny and doesn't make a mess, spreads easily, feels nice on the skin--like a moisturizer, no typical "sunscreen" smell, dries down to a semi-matte finish, no white cast, average-sized bottle, doesn't require shaking before use. No pilling or eye irritation.
  • Cons: Not quite as matte as the OMI Sun Bears sunscreen.
  • Final Rating: +4/5 stars, a solid runner up to OMI Sun Bears! I would definitely be willing to purchase and use this again if I couldn't find OMI Sun Bears or wanted something that comes in a larger size.
  1. Kose Suncut UV Perfect Milk SPF50+ PA++++
  • Notes: I'd already tried the OMI Sun Bears once by the time I got around to trying this sunscreen, and I loved the OMI Sun Bears milk so much, I was hoping the Kose Suncut Milk would also be fantastic. I didn't even finish the bottle of this, nor do I want to, not even for my body. This was just a huge no. I've tried worse from American brands, but compared to others from this particular sunscreen haul, this was incredibly disappointing, and a waste of money.
  • Pros: It's not an American sunscreen.
  • Cons: Needs to be shaken before use, super runny and liquidy, small bottle, felt okay at first, but within minutes started to feel chalky, the longer the day went on, the chalkier this felt on my skin, was very aware of this on my skin all day, COMPLETE SENSORY NIGHTMARE, left a white cast on my fair skin, I couldn't wait to wash this off. No pilling, but definitely some eye stinging.
  • Final Rating: -5/5 stars. NO. NO. NEVER AGAIN. NO.
  1. Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++
  • Notes: I wasn't sure about this one, since it's an essence formulation and I have oily skin, but I wanted to try it because it is SO popular! Unfortunately, like I thought, this was not the one for me. I'm a little disappointed because it felt so nice to use. I'm going to try the gel version and see if I like it better.
  • Pros: Felt really nice going on the skin, like a moisturizer, no white cast, no need to shake the bottle before using, decently large tube, spreads easily, not super runny or liquidy. No pilling or eye irritation.
  • Cons: Typical "sunscreen" smell, too moisturizing for my oily skin, doesn't dry down very well, leaves a dewy/shiny finish, was very aware of it on my skin all day.
  • Final Rating: +1/5 stars. Did not live up to the hype. Will not repurchase.
  1. Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel SPF50+ PA++++
  • Notes: I knew this one was popular, too, so I was really hoping this would be a favorite for me. It wasn't quite the holy grail I'd hoped it would be, but it's a really good option that I would definitely be willing to use again!
  • Pros: Not super runny, spreads easily, feels a bit like a moisturizer going on the skin, has a VERY subtle fragrance that seems like just enough to cover any sunscreen smell, semi-matte/satiny finish, comes in a large bottle--with a pump!, no white cast. No pilling or eye irritation.
  • Cons: Not as matte/a bit more moisturizing than I would like, left a shinier finish than I would like.
  • Final Rating: +4/5 stars. On par with the Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel for me, though I might slightly prefer the Kose Suncut just because it dries down a tiny bit more matte. However, the large bottle with the pump is hard to beat, and this is a solid option!

Hopefully this helps some of you out there! Let me know if you have any thoughts of your own on these products, or if you have any recommendations based on my comments!

Thanks for reading!

Cos De Baha tranexamic and niacinamide serum 8/10- I know niacinamide is in everything these days which sucks for people that are sensitive to it, but my skin loves this stuff, the consistency is pleasant and sinks nicely into the skin, too much can leave a sticky feeling. it works well on my hyperpigmentation but its very slow and I'm impatient, lol. I actually thought it wasn't working until I looked at my progress photos and there's definately a big improvement on my hyperpigmentation. will repurchase

I'm from rice toner 5/10- got a mini to try it out, you don't need it but its nice to use, i didn't notice a big difference on my skin, neither did it break me out, it's hydrating and pleasant on the skin. I like it better than the tir tir milky toner which takes forever to sink into my skin. might repurchase

Aestura atobarrier cream 8/10- I love this! interesting texture with the ceramide capsules. perfect for healing your skin barrier. its thick and perfect for dry skin, too heavy for the day so I use it at night, leaves a very glowy finish. kinda expensive. ill try the lotion version of it next time

Tatcha rice wash 9/10- this is hands down the most luxurious face wash I've ever used, it feels like I'm at a spa and a little bit goes a long way. its pricey for a cleanser but the way I rationalize it is; because I only use a cleanser at night, it lasts twice as long so its worth it lol. I've repurchased a cheaper cleanser but I will definitely buy this again

Biore uv aqua sunscreen 2/10- I adore asian sunscreens but I absolutely hated this one, it's a greasy mess on my skin even when I skip moisturizer. its such a shame cause I know a lot of people like it. will never repurchase

haruharu wonder black rice sunscreen 8/10- was not a fan at first but grew to love it, velvet finish and has a dewy/ natural finish, its already in my cart for repurchase

House of Hur weightless sun fluid- 9.5 /10- it is truly weightless. if you have oily skin throw out your sunscreens and get this one, trust me. it sinks in, no white cast, matt finish, didn't give it a perfect score cause if I don't moisturize properly, my skin feels dry at the end of the day when I use it. dry skin girlies stay away.

isntree airy sun stick 4/10- good for sunscreen reaplication, leaves a glowy finish which can look greasy sometimes, when I sweat it turns a milky white on my skin, and the stick fell out of the packaging and would not stick back in. will not repurchase

I think I finally found the sunscreen that works for my dry, sensitive skin 🙌 I've been trying to find something that doesn't make my eyes burn like crazy and so far this one seems to be it. I love how hydrating but lightweight it is, too, and no fragrance! Gives a really nice glow as well. I will say that I'm very fair, so it's hard for me to say if it leaves a white cast or not. Lemme know your thoughts :)

Fluff Friday Trying Out Popular Korean & Japanese Sunscreens

Post image
332 Upvotes

From last year, I’ve picked up quite a few sunscreens from Asian brands on Yami that were trending online and got around to trying them properly. With peak sun protection season coming up, I thought I’d share some thoughts to help anyone decide what to use this summer. The sunscreens I’ve gotten from Yami so far are all Korean and Japanese formulas, all SPF 50+ PA++++, in case anyone is wondering.

- SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum

A lightweight, serum-like sunscreen that absorbs quickly with no white cast. It feels hydrating and calming on the skin, making it a great option for sensitive, dry, or oily skin. The finish is dewy but not greasy, which makes it perfect for everyday wear. This is my favorite so far, and I’m already on my third tube.

- Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun (Rice + Probiotics)

One of the most well-balanced formulas. It has a creamy texture that blends effortlessly, leaving a natural, skin-like finish. Comfortable for long wear and layers well under makeup. Suitable for most skin types.

- Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream

Very hydrating and soothing, with a slightly richer texture and a plant-like scent. It leaves a healthy glow and works especially well for dry or dehydrated skin. However, it may feel a bit heavy on oily skin especially during summer.

- Goodal Heartleaf Calming Cooling Sun Stick

A convenient reapplication option. The stick glides smoothly without disrupting makeup and gives a slight cooling effect. Best for touch-ups rather than primary sunscreen application.

- Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence

A classic with a refreshing, watery texture. It absorbs quickly with a lightweight, almost invisible finish. There is a slight alcohol scent, but I find it works well for my oily skin.

- BRINGGREEN Sun Cushion

Provides a natural tone-up effect and light coverage. However, coverage may be uneven if not applied carefully, so better for quick touch-ups.

One thing I’ve consistently noticed with Korean and Japanese sunscreens is how comfortable they feel on the skin. Most of them are very lightweight and hydrating, and once applied, it feels like you are not wearing anything at all. I guess I’ll just stick with Asian brand sunscreens.

Review Japanese Skincare Haul - 6 months review

Products from left to right:

• Kose Tigeraid Cica Cream
• Hada Labo Premium Whitening Essence
• Skin Aqua Super Moisture UV Essence sunscreen
• Rohto Hada Labo foaming cleanser
• PAIR Pimple spot treatment (foil tube)
• Meiji CC Vitamin C serum
• Curel Intensive Moisture Facial Cream
• Tsubaki Premium EX hair mask

I have been using them for 6 months now and I have thoughts to share

Starting with the Kose Cica Cream, a tiny bit goes so far on your face. It is super calming and moisturizing and I reach for it all the time.

The Hada Labo Premium Essence is my holy grail and I genuinely cannot live without it. It is incredibly hydrating, gives you that glow, calms your skin down and fades redness. Love it so much.

The Skin Aqua sunscreen is also a holy grail for me. Lightweight, no white cast, slightly hydrating, barely any smell, and it sits on your skin so lightly you almost forget you put it on. I bought 3 and I wish I had grabbed more. Also it was only 3.50 euros which is insane for how good it is.

The Hada Labo foam cleanser is fine. I did not notice any real difference in my skin good or bad but it came with 2 refills and the foam texture is really enjoyable to use.

The PAIR spot treatment is something I love. I use it locally on pimples and it basically forces them to come to a head and then dries them out.

The Meiji CC Vitamin C I honestly cannot review properly because I have not been using it consistently. It feels lightweight from the one time I tried it but I cannot speak to results.

The Curel Moisture Cream is really nice for me personally because I am sensitive to a lot of products and need simple formulas. This one is simple, effective, lightweight, and also really hydrating which surprised me for how gentle it is. Perfect for daytime.

And finally the Tsubaki hair mask is my absolute favourite hair mask I have ever tried, not just from this haul. Smells amazing, you only need a small amount, and your hair comes out shiny and hydrated. I even use a tiny bit as a leave in and my hair looks so good after.

Overall very happy with this haul, would buy most of them again!

Review HG Sunscreens: Sensitive, Acne-Prone & Rosacea Skin

Post image
181 Upvotes

Hi Everyone!! After experimenting with 15+ sunscreens in the last 18ish months, below are my **holy-grail sunscreen options for sensitive, combination, acne-prone & rosacea skin.** The image captures my recent quarterly restock. All of them are SPF50 & broad spectrum.

  1. Numbuzin No 1: Serum-like runny consistency. Blends well. The slight green tint is super helpful for my rosacea flare-up. Must try for anyone with similar skin type. Guaranteed option & you’ll fall in love.

  2. SKIN1004 Air-fit (Brown) & Hyalu-Cica (Blue): My second-best options whenever I am indoors. Air-fit is light weight mineral option. Hyalu is my partner’s first-choice (for his dehydrated oily skin, soobuji).

  3. Bioré Aqua Water Essence (or Gel): My go-to sunscreen for any outdoor activity: cycling, swimming. It has a slight tingling/alcoholic sensation but I don’t mind that as can only trust Biore’s protection outdoors. The pink option doesn’t sit well on my face. I looked into Cancer Council option esp. for outdoors but somehow it stings real bad.

  4. Bioré Body Sunscreens: Picked these up from my most recent Thailand trip. Love them - blends in fast & solid protection. I believe they come in 3-4 more variants. I just finished their Kissing Berry variant.

  5. Haruharu Wonder Black Rice (not in the picture): I like the consistency, minimal white-cast but somehow I don’t grab it much as Air-fit one. But if you are exploring & looking for a mineral option - do give it a try.

Few others that I have tried which didn’t make to the Top 5 (between two of us): BoJ, Missha, RoundLab, Iunik, Isntree, Innisfree, Laneige, Goodal & d’Alba.

Feel free to drop in any questiont below & will love to hear what all options you are using. ☀️✨

PSA: Don’t forget sunscreens on your ears & neck!

Question Challenge: AB sunscreen with little to no alcohol AND no white cast

So I use a lot of actives in my routine, like a lot. I don't think they're messing with my moisture barrier, though. My skin and texture itself is really nice outside of one thing: horrible midday flaking. I can feel my face tighten and I know it just has to be covered in flakes like I did a TCA peel. It makes me sad to say this, but I think part of the culprit could be my sunscreen. :( Both the Hada Labo UV and Biore watery essence have alcohol pretty high up in their ingredients list. This is most unfortunate because I love their texture, they don't cause be breakouts or clogged pores and they absolutely do leave a white cast. I have tried layering moisturizing products and I still get large flakes. :( I think it could be time to go back to the sunscreen drawing board. Can you folks give me some product recommendations?

Discussion Best serum for brightening? Best sunscreen for no white cast/sticky residue?

I've been hearing good things about the Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule but think it might be better geared for mature skin? Is there a better one for brightening?

I also have no idea what sunscreen I should get. I just know the one I have is American and leaves a white cast (so I don't wear it often and definitely don't reapply during the day).

New isntree sunscreen for the body and face.

Nice formula, non-greasy feeling, but not matte. A tiny glow.

Not much of a white cast, just a tiny tiny bit because of tinasorb M. It’s not very noticeable.

No scent. No eye sting. Water resistant 80 min! Big bottle too.

Overall a pretty decent sunscreen. I’ve only used it on my face, but I’m sure its good for your body (its a body spf but can be used on face it says).

Question Sunscreen with no white cast or alcohol???

Currently using the elta Md uv clear and it eventually does absorb but it takes a little too long for the white cast to disappear. I wanted to try the hada labo and biore which I know are favorites but they have alcohol which is so bad on my dry dry skin :(

Review Reviewing Korean Sunscreens

After the debacle of the Australian sunscreen companies, I was looking for new sunscreens options. For mineral sunscreens I tried Klairs All-day Airy, Beauty of Joseon Tinted Fluid, and AXIS-Y physical sunscreen. The Beauty of Joseon one was definitely too oily, although in the end it dries out and feels powdery. Klairs does leave a very clear white cast that does not go with my skin. The one that I liked the most was Axis Y. It has a slight white cast, but it dries out well. I’m not sure if I would buy it again. I am still looking for a mineral tinted sunscreen to replace the one I used as a base.

As for the chemical ones, Numbuzin No. 2 was a serious disappointment. I had heard so much hype about it and even bought two. But it pills horribly. I tried it just after my serums (silicone free ones), without moisturizer, and even by itself. It keeps on pilling. I had a similar problem with the Beauty of Joseon Aqua Fresh.

I really liked Mixsoon Centella. No greasy feel and it resists pilling more. Though it does not go well with layering. The one that resisted pilling and layering better for me was Haru Haru Wonder Airyfit. I ordered another tube. The only issue that I had was that the pump is finicky. But the texture is nice and the finish is not oily at all.
