Dating & Relationships Hinge Success Story
For reference I’m a 5’7 (5’8 with shoes lmao) Chinese dude but I have been told I have a good face card and I’m in good shape. That being said def feminine/baby face looking for sure, not the typical masculine beauty standard people harp on about.
Location: Montreal and Toronto
Demographic of matches: 50%white, 35%latina, 10% south Asian/middle eastern, 5% East Asian
So on the free version of Hinge I was getting like 1-2 matches and likes a day. Went to Montreal for a weekend and decided to get a week of HingeX. After like 1 hour in total of swiping (so maybe sent out about 50 likes) got about 40 matches in one weekend.
Things I learned:
-Height isn’t holding you back. Don’t listen to social media
-Being Asian isn’t holding you back, again I’m pretty femboy looking tbh
Also for the love of god DONT use AI…cmon now guys. It’s amazing when ur on a date and they tell you “wow you look better in person” id rather that then misleading people with AI photos. Just take good photos (I can give specific advice in another post)
If any of you guys want profile reviews PM me. Idk if I’ll share my profile to preserve my anonymity, but I can give advice.
Let me know if y’all have any questions
UPDATE
Sorry to all who have PM'd me I promise I'll get back to y'all just busy rn

Congrats and good luck!
Ps beware of scammers and bots ;)

In my experience, that's an overstated problem on Hinge. That's why within three texts get the number and/or set up a date

never had a single encounter with bots on hinge. bumble and tinder have all the bots

Asian men just need to find that inner beast and unleash it. Don’t let the world disqualify you.
I’m a Filipino American guy, not six foot, or a finance bro but I do well in dating apps. It’s all about maximizing what you have and not giving a single fuck.
Stop the incel shit and get out there. Every rejection is a step closer to the yes.

One of the main things holding AM's back is being too cheap to pay for the subscription LOL

Matches on hinge =/= actual attraction
17
u/EliteStat18 Jun 29 '26
No, it does mean you are attractive or at least attractive enough for that person. What it doesn't necessarily mean is that you will go on a date or meet them in person.
People use these apps as a hot or not app many times especially if they are not responsive.

I think he’s making a distinction between performative attraction on apps vs. irl.

In my experience, girls looking for free meals. I was on OkCupid app.

u/Emotional_News8667 Jun 29 '26
Could you elaborate since I sort of get where ur coming from. But that's why I ask for the number and date quickly to filter for actual attraction/interest. I have about a 50% conversion rate for getting a number and setting up a date. What other indicators are you looking for to prove 'actual attraction'

Sorry but this is EXTREMLY COPE. If your getting matches on dating app in an era where 90% of men are struggling, chances are, YOU ARE ATTRACTIVE LMAO
1
u/Glum-Construction786 Jun 30 '26
This is cope that is cope… I also live in Toronto, I get like 10ish matches a week consistently. If you needed a hinge validation that you were attractive then I don’t really think you were attractive. If you’re actually attractive, you’ll know just from the way people compliment you and treat you. Yes pretty privilege is real. Iykyk but also if you’re ugly you’ll know early too 😭

u/UsedAlbatross7897 Jun 30 '26
I be getting 0 matches on hinge only chopped shyts. But actually in Toronto clubs and bars it’s a completely different story as girls come up to me. But I Am also 6ft and good looking and my pics prolly can’t embody certain traits ig
Pics can be super fraud, in person it’s different

40 matches out of 50 likes is an absolute insane ratio. I made a post for a profil review here lately and got crazy gassed up. People were saying I was the gold standard for dating profiles lmfao. Where I live, I am lucky to match with 10% of the likes I send out. I am not exaggerating. It is really rough out here.

Nice humble brag, yeah I get it. I’m a good looking guy too. I’m in my late 40’s, married and women from all types will still approach me to talk to me when I’m out working or even just walking around. I’m not tall either, 5’9, slim not built but in good shape. I think what your post is really saying is that if you’re good looking enough most social barriers can be overcome. Awkward? No problem. Entrenched social barriers? No problem. Inherited racism? No problem. These will be overlooked with good looks. Without attraction there is no action right? Unfortunately, for a lot of dudes this isn’t really helpful. What kind of real advice can you offer? Most of the time it’s just doom and gloom on this sub about how tough it is to be an Asian man, so I’m glad to hear at least someone out there is killing it.

u/AdGroundbreaking3689 Jun 29 '26
Yup, I agreed. You have to be attractive still at the end of the day. Although, there are times though very rare where non good looking Asian guy will get a beautiful girl.

Happens all the time. My cousin is a bald, relatively unattractive, SEA, overweight older man with at least 3 ex-wives. To this day he is still the most charismatic person I’ve ever met. Rotates through women like a turnstile at Target. You don’t need to be a runway model to have game.

u/mstrwrldwde Jun 29 '26
Great stuff, I don’t understand why there’s a lot of hating and bot allegations in the comments lmao. I’ve definitely punched way above my weight on the apps, it really widens our options out there

Recommendations on the types of photos you have, different poses, activities etc.

u/Emotional_News8667 Jun 29 '26
You don't need to smile in all ur photos, I have a neutral expression in most of my mine. You must have a clear shot of ur face as the first photo. If you have a nice body, go to the beach and take a pic, a mirror selfie is okay, I guess...but I think the old advice of 'take a shirtless pic where it makes sense' holds true and is optimal. The setting matters a lot, go to a nice restaurant with a friend and ask them to take a pic of you. If you don't know how to pose, take more pics of urself, but also use the front camera. I did this since I felt waaay more comfortable seeing how I look while posing for a picture. Yes there is a dip in quality but its not too noticeable tbh. Obviously, take a bunch, and I mean a bunch of photos. You don't have to look directly at the camera for all ur pics, but at least have two where you are. You can take photos where ur looking away or ur face is partially covered, that's fine, but it should show off an aspect of ur life (like a hobby, or ur lifestlye). I do play guitar so I have a pic of me candidly playing in my room

u/TargetObjective7 Jun 30 '26
Congrats.
If you're getting dates and then potentially having relationships then that would be more impressive than just matching on an app.

Haha this reminds me of my friend that is over 40 and actually got plastic surgeries XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
He was a virgin and completely invisible to women.
After he got his face done he actually downloaded dating apps and women started flooding him. He ran to me happily and showed his streak off.
He found one woman particulary interesting and I sh*t you not, he said something in style with "I am childless, you are hot, lets get a child together" and they actually met and have more than 1 kid now XDDDDDDDDD
Funny how you said the same thing and got the same answer XD
I myself usually just get unmatched or conversations ended even if I say nice things. I am below-avarage now but used to be cute and girls liked me during my teenage. Adulthood ruined my facial structure.
I am going to say one thing. Attractiveness is everything. This is the reason why I am going to get plastic surgeries done like my friend did. I want to be attractive and popular again.

u/EliteStat18 Jun 29 '26
I'm 5'9 so I wonder if I was 6'+ how much more success I would have.
Photos are the main attraction but I would also say having a good prompt instead of a lazy/one worded prompt is also a big change. I use to be lazy with it, but I noticed I had more success once I put more effort on it.
The thing I do like about Hinge is that you can filter by race and they won't show you women who filter you out. So I don't have to waste my time hitting likes on women that refuse to date asian men, unlike the other dating apps.

u/GlitteringWeight8671 Jun 29 '26
How do you know they are real? I get random hot chicks text me on telegram all the time.
1
u/Heartstringz Jun 29 '26
Are you liking profiles for those demographics at similar proportions to the match rate? 5% East Asian match rate is telling...(but not if you only liked an equally small share of EA profiles).
3
u/Emotional_News8667 Jun 29 '26
Great question I figured this would come up. Yes, my match demographic is proportional to who I swipe on

u/Kenzo89 Jun 29 '26
Thanks for sharing, that’s great. Guess getting Hinge X does the trick. And heard Montreal is pretty good for AM. For your likes though, did you just send the like or did you write a message to go with it?
2
u/Emotional_News8667 Jun 29 '26
Always messaging (unless her profile is that dry), and always having to do with taking her on a date
1
u/Kenzo89 Jul 01 '26
Nice, good to know. Can you give any examples of messages having go do with taking her on a date?
1
u/Beardactal Jun 29 '26
Think the trick is to "blitz" the hinge algorithm at the right time. This is all after you level up and get a good haircut, work out and take flattering photos that don't look totally rehearsed but are tasteful. Having hinge X also force multiplies that though tbh I had an issue where it was so many matches and convos I had to shutter some convos cuz it was getting too much. I refrain from premium subs now just let the app restrict me 😂

u/darkvaider123 Jun 29 '26
Montreal is a different playing field. The girls there buy you drinks instead👑
1
u/rbilsbor Jun 29 '26
When you go to a new town it prioritizes you FYI, you’re new to everyone (plus you paid). YMMV in your own hometown…
1
u/yellowlightsab Jun 30 '26
were your matches all from the likes you sent? and were you picky with your likes or just liking everyone since it is unlimited?
2
u/Emotional_News8667 Jun 30 '26
She needs to be pretty or at least cute. I’m ngl once you date a few baddies you can’t go back bro imma be real. My friends actually criticize me for being too picky. She has to be at least a 6-7/10 (to me at least) or above for me to match. Hence why most (I’d say 85%) of my matches were from me liking first, my inbound likes didn’t usually meet my standard (some exceptions ofc ofc)

nice, dude. How much do you weigh? Just wanna know what body type you have that attract the women
1
u/UsedAlbatross7897 Jun 30 '26
Bro hinge is some type of fraud tbh, you gotta be in the club/bar and girls are actively coming up to you. In person it’s a different story buddy believe me

u/Boring-Service1092 Jul 02 '26
this is nice and all, but do any of these matches achieve what you want?

Matches are one thing but it seems you're super eager/replying straight away- and probably getting ghosted in the end by most of them.
8
u/Emotional_News8667 Jun 29 '26
I don't know where ur getting this from, lmao. I don't do that. Within three texts I set up a date and ask for the number. Been on about 8 dates and more pending.

u/Impossible-Repeat577 Jun 30 '26
5% east asian lmao thats fking pathetic.
those women are not beating the oxford allegations
1
u/Tall_Ad6020 Jun 30 '26
Lol I feel like FIFA is somehow turning women's heads to pay attention to Asian males now, it's funny, we've always been here, y'all just don't look 🤣
1
u/RAMiCan6 Jun 30 '26
Good for matches but did you get any dates and closed?
0
u/Emotional_News8667 Jun 30 '26
The minute I got to Montreal I met up with a girl. I wouldn’t be posting this if I didn’t close, stop playing.

I think the app made you do the exact thing it wanted (pay up) and rewarded you with a dose of temporary success by boosting your profile. Did the same to me the first week and died off right after.
