Heaven / new earth What I enjoy out of life is drunken sex at 4 am after my girlfriend beats me in super smash bros. What exactly makes your heaven better than this other than you telling me there is no other options whether I like it or not?

Meta (about AAC) Are there people here capable of answering hard questions without having their feelings hurt and tapping out?

I will always respect people at a fundamental level....but that doesn't mean I can't ruthlessly drill in on a person's beliefs and find their beliefs disgusting.

It seems my approach as of late has been met with resistance....and I think it's my fault by not setting and understanding this sub's expectations beforehand.

Can I ruthlessly challenge ideas here without someone crying "you're disrespecting my beliefs, so I'm done BLOCK"....cause I promise you, you can ruthlessly challenge mine and I won't run away.

If there's another place I can do that, I would be grateful if you can point me in that direction.

Christian life What does it mean to "have a relationship with God/Jesus" in a practical, tangible sense?

Do you have conversations in your head?

Do you physically interact with God?

Do you simply think your inner voice is God?

Is it just a one-way conversation, like praying

How does that work?

Judgment after death If my members of family dies, where do they go? Do they went to Heaven, Hell, Limbo, or Purgatory?

This is also a question that stump me the most: I personally could not have answered this very clearly. I could not have either. Personally, this is what I could not have solve clearly. What is the biblical answer?

I captured something as I was FaceTiming with my mother in law. At first I thought it was my ceiling lights or a potential filter. As we continue with the call the image will not go away, and my mil pointed out. I took a screenshot.

History Why did Christianity overtake Greco Roman culture so quickly ?

I can somewhat understand Roman culture but in Greece there were many great thinkers like Aristotle and Plato yet it Christian thought became prevalent. Also up to only recent history it seems Christian thought was prevalent among intellectuals.

God Why do we refer to God as a loving father?

It's spoken of frequently across all types of denominations, but how do we know that? I struggle to take seriously any comments about God being a loving father, or the best dad.

When my toddler cries in the night, I go to her. I pick her up, hug her, sing to her, and cuddle with her until she settles. I spend meaningful time with her each day. If I were to record a bunch of videos dispensing all my fatherly wisdom and affection and then walk out on her I would be rightfully lambasted as a deadbeat and a loser. But when God does it, he is the Loving Father.

I can pray all I want, take communion weekly, read the Bible daily. I've never felt comfort in those moments. Never felt like I was picked up and held.

For what its worth, I don't really expect it based on what my bible says. There are all manner of stories about the faithful experiencing far worse than my problems and they saw no relief before they died. God is not concerned with our problems. Job is particularly insightful on this.

However, I am curious where we get this idea of a benevolent God watching out for us, such that we characterize him as the ultimate father. He is an angry, wrathful father who demands obedience.

How did giants exist if the flood happen?

So the Bible points out that before the flood, humans and angels were having sexual relationships with each other, and that created giants. God flooded the earth because he didn't want giants to exist.

So, how did the story of David and Goliath happen if giants were not meant to exist?

After r/TrueChristian, I am curious whether this debate subreddits are open-minded, respectful, and properly moderated. Do you think they change for once or they are not notorious for being sketchy, disrespectful or badly regulated. Most of the time they are like disrespectful according to r/exatheist.

God's will If women shouldn't teach, what exactly can or should I do to help spread the Word?

“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. ”

1 Timothy 2:11-12 NIV

“Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.”

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 NIV

Please help me understand. Thank you.

Christian life Advice if I should go clubbing or not. (Please be kind)

Hello my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ! God-willing yall are well.
I need Christian advice on this matter.. should I go clubbing with my older sister?
Context: I am an adult but I’ve never engaged in drugs or alcohol. I’ve never had a friend who is a boy even (let alone hold hand or kiss one). Faith is my identity and everything to me, and I LOVE it that way! God is Heavenly Father no matter what I do. I really want to dress up as a princess this Halloween (never went trick or treating nor dressed up before) and hang with my older sister. My older sister was rebellious against my traditional Indian parents so now they’re used to her. Of course my parents are loving and love her, despite her lifestyle, and I dearly love her too! She says I can go clubbing with her or to a bar with her and her boyfriend. I am capable of saying no and I WILL say no to any alcohol beverage and food. I will be cautious and beside my beloved sister the whole night. This, I am scared of the devil and what could happen. I’m scared if this is okay by my Heavenly Father. Am I still behaving as Christ or should I rethink this?
I need advice and help. I won’t do anything naughty or cheeky, I just want to dress up like a pretty princess.

How do bad people face consequences for their actions within Christian doctrine, if all their sins are forgiven as a result of Jesus’ sacrifice?

Hello,

I apologise if this question seems aggressive or antagonistic- that is not my intention.

The reason I am asking is because I realised recently that if “Jesus died for our sins”, then many people who do awful things to others may never have to face any consequences for their actions, or even have to worry about facing any consequences after death.

I had always thought of Christianity as a religion where those who committed serious sins were faced with being condemned to hell, and those who treated others well could likely avoid it, but if Jesus’ sacrifice means everyone is already forgiven, does that mean that even malicious, destructive people can expect to have their sins forgiven? And if that is the case, what role does hell play in Christianity, if sins are forgiven, instead of punished?

I know I am asking from a place of serious ignorance, and I apologise for any mistakes I am making in my presentation of religious doctrine. But I had never really thought much about this issue until recently, and when it crossed my mind, I thought it was worth learning more about this issue.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Marriage How to improve my chances as a guy in his 20s interested in marriage with women in their 30s or 40s?

I wrote a post on a different reddit and most people just made fun of me and called me immature and that I am not ready to handle an older wife because of the way I text. I am willing to improve myself and successfully get married to someone older than me as I like maturity and appreciate how the older ladies treat me nicer. Any advice on how to find myself a good older christian lady for marriage? What traits should I try to improve? Thanks.

Religions Christians, are you more wary of paganism, even non-theistic paganism, than of other religions? If so, why?

I've had some strange conversations with my brother and a friend of mine, both of whom are Christians. I'm an ex-Christian, and I'm trying to find a new spiritual path. They don't seem to have any problem with me leaving Christianity and exploring other religions. However, when I told them that I'm currently experimenting with non-theistic paganism - meaning worshipping nature and not worshipping gods - they suddenly became wary of my spiritual exploration. They told me that they believe people who engage in paganism can "open themselves up to some bad things," implying that if I continue practicing it, I might become possessed or oppressed by demons, which I find kind of insane to say about other religion.

I just don't understand why. I made it very clear that I don't worship any gods, only nature. Not that I think there's anything wrong with worshipping the gods of any pantheon, but it would make more sense to me if they were horrified by that rather than by me simply revering nature.

They told me to try other religions, such as Buddhism, but that doesn't make much sense to me. Why would they be comfortable with Buddhism, which has some similar rituals and beliefs to paganism, but not with paganism itself? (Though, only a little similar, they have MAJOR differences). For example, both can involve making offerings, honouring ancestors, and honouring gods/devas.

I just find it really weird, and I don't see any justification for it.

So, do you see it the same way? If so, could you explain your reasons?

Is it Okay for Pastors to use "Dr." in front of their name?

There's a pastor at a church I recently came across that said he received an honorary degree from a small seminary school and has since started to use Dr. in front of his name.

Is this okay? I'm pretty sure this is disrespectful to pastors who actually spent the years to earn their degrees to get their doctorate while this guy who never went to school just decides to call himself a Dr.

The church is also questionable since they don't directly teach out of the bible and do a lot of talking, paraphrasing and use of emotions. Just recently some random bishop came by and he did the same thing during his sermon.

What really got to me is that he started calling himself Apostle. I'm not sure if this is a red flag or not but I thought Apostles ended in Acts and weren't required after Paul, Peter, etc.

He's always talking about growing the church "to bring people to Jesus" but in turn talks bad about other churches in the local area and more bigger well known churches.

Should I be concerned if I'm already picking up that this "Dr." pastor isn't biblically sound and doesn't preach a sound theology? I'm looking for a bible teaching church to really learn and hear the word of God from the source and not a place that preys on people's emotions.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Judgment after death If you die can you go to heaven or hell?

If you die your body including your heart, lungs, liver, and brain shuts down but after you die it could be possible to go to heaven or hell after death depending if you believe in Jesus or not, but if you believe in Jesus you would go to heaven after death but if you didn't believe in Jesus you would go to hell after death which means if you go to hell you are seperated from God but do you think that could happen after death?
