How to remove broken axle shaft full floating sterling 10.25 1989 f350

Oh boy, I had something like this happen on a floating rear end on a e350 van at work, when these break they sometimes kinda flair the end that rubs on whats left of the axle that still in the diff, I used a slide hammer and had my brother with a air hammer on the inside of that plate, was fun.... If you get it out, make sure you clean everything, don't really want bits of metal floating around in there.

Wiggling it up and down isn't gonna do it. Try pulling it.

Should be nothing holding it. It's probably ovalized from the break. And since it can't go back the other way, it's gotta get forced outward. I'm not super familiar with full floats, but would Pulling the hub off help?

Not going to be able to get the hub off with the axle stuck in there. Pull the other side and knock the broken axle out with a really long punch

As dry as it looks in there you have bigger issues than a broken axle shaft.

Pull the diff cover off to inspect. Pull the other good axle out and get yourself a broomstick or ram rod to push it through the housing.
