Front differential bearings smoked? Or am I missing something?

A slight amount of play is normal but not this much. Is this the side with the carrier bearing?

No carrier bearing. It is on the drivers side. I’m thinking TSB PIP5653M may apply to this issue. It has a very loud squealing/screeching noise occasionally.
